8 INST ALL MULCHER PLA TE (See Figs. 4B) • Install two latch hooks to mulcher plate using screw , washer , lock washer , and weld nut as sho wn. NO TE: Pre-assemble weld nut to latch hook b y in ser t ing weld nut from the top with hook pointing do wn.

11 OPERA TION The operation of any tractor can result in f oreign objects thro wn into the ey es, which can result in severe e ye dam age . Always wear saf ety glass es or eye shields while operating your tractor or per fo rm ing any adjustments or repair s.
12 OPERA TION T O OPERA TE ON HILLS W ARNING: Do not drive up or down hills with slopes greater than 15° and do not drive across an y slope . • Choose the slo west speed bef ore star ting up or down hills. • Av oid stopping or changing speed on hills.
13 OPERA TION T O ST AR T ENGINE (See Fig. 5) When star ting the engine for the fi rst time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take e xtra cranking time to mo ve fuel from the tank to the engine. • Be sure freewheel control is in the transmission en gaged position.

15 MULCHING MO WING TIPS IMPORT ANT: FOR BEST PERFORMANCE, KEEP MOWER HOUSING FREE OF BUIL T -UP GRASS AND TRASH. CLEAN AFTER EA CH USE. • The spe cial mulch ing blade will recut the gr ass clip- pings many times and reduce them in siz e so that as they f all onto the lawn the y will disperse into the grass and not be noticed.

18 MAINTENANCE V- B E LT S Check V -belts f or deterioration and wear after 100 hours of operation and replace if necessary . The belts are not ad just able . Re place belts if they begin to slip from w ear . TRANSAXLE COOLING The transmission f an and cooling fi ns should be kept clean to assure proper cooling.
19 MAINTENANCE MUFFLER Inspect and replace corroded muffl er and spark arrester (if equipped) as it could create a fi re hazard and/or dam- age. SP ARK PLUGS Replace spark plugs at the beginning of each mowing season or after e very 100 hours of operation, whiche v er occurs fi rst.

Check adjustment as described below bef ore loosening cable . If adjustment is necessar y , proceed as follows: • With engine not running, mov e throttle control lev er to f ast position.
26 ST ORA GE Immediately prepare your tr actor f or storage at the end of the season or if the tractor will not be used f or 30 days or more. W ARNING: Never store the trac tor with gas o line in the tank inside a building where fumes may reac h an open fl ame or spark.
