1-1 1 System Overview This chapter will serve as a brief int rod uction to the RMX 1000 system and its major functions an d features. The following chapters provide detailed description about the installation of RMX 1000 system, as well as how to hold, manage, monitor conferences and m aintain the device.

3-1 3 Basic Operation This chapter introduces the Web UI components of the RMX 1000 and common operations, and how to start a si mple conference. The goal of this chapter is to provide a quick guide on how to start a conference with minimal effort.
Chapter 3 – B asic Operati on 3-2 RMX 1000 can support a maximum o f 20 users simul taneously connected to Web UI. The table below shows the operation ab i lities of u sers at diff erent levels when accessing the Web interface of the RMX 1000.
Polycom RMX 1000 User Guide 3-3 Pane Layout Conference List The Conferences list pane shows all the conference s running on the current device and their r elevant informat ion, includ ing status, ID, start tim e and end time. Here you can create, delete, and lock confe rences, as well as view conference details.

For more information about System Alert s , see System Alerts . • H.323/SIP Link Status This indication bar shows in real time the endpoints connected wi th the system and relevant information.

Chapter 3 – B asic Operati on 3-6 Starting a Conference There are several ways to start a conference with the RMX 1000: • Create an instant conference throug h the conference list pane of Web interface. • Directly start a conference using a video endpoint’s remote control.

Polycom RMX 1000 User Guide 3-11 Connecting to a Conference – Dialing Methods To connect an endpoint to an ongoing c onference or meeting room, you can use one of the dialing methods below: • Dial the IP address of the RMX 1000 system through the remote control to connect the RMX 1000.

4-1 4 Conference Profiles A conference profile is used to pre-defi ne the basic parameters for conference scheduling, such as the bandwidth, encryption, and vi deo quality.

Click the Mes sage Overla y tab on the New Profile interfa ce to set the message overlay parameters.

5-1 5 R ecording Link The RMX 1000 supports the recording link function. It can work with the RSS 2000 to record conference content. After the recording setup is co mpleted, when the conference starts, the RMX 1000 will fi rst call the participants in the participant list, and then call the configured RSS 2000 to record the conference.

6-1 6 Meeting R ooms A Meeting Room is a con ference saved on the MCU in passive mo de, without using any system resources. A Meeting Room is automatically activ ated when the first participant dials into it. Once acti vated, a Meeting Room functions as any ongoing conference .

Chapter 6 – Meeting Rooms 6-4 To edit or delete a p a rticipant th at is added t o the list, se lect it, and then click the Edit or Remove button. A user can al so click multiple part icipants to be deleted one by one while pressing down the Ctrl key, or select adjacent ones while pressing down the Shift key.
7-1 7 R eservations Multiple types of confer ence reservation s can be implement ed using RMX 1000. You can reserve a con f erence for one time or convene routine conferences on a daily, we ekly, or monthly basis as ne eded. The system reserves resources for conferences, so the conference ca n be automatically started at the preset time.

In add ition, the conference list will show that the conference is ongoing.
8-1 8 Address Book You can use the address book provided by the RMX 1000 to store participant information, such as the IP add ress and network com munication protocol of the participant’s endpoint. The addres s book enab les you to conveniently and easily ad d participant s to a confere nce.

FECC T oken can only be allocated to one particip ant at one time. If no partip ant uses th e FECC function, this icon is not displayed.

10-1 10 Users and Connections Users who are defined in t he Web interface can log in to the Web management interface to complete authorized operations. The RMX supports three user connection leve ls: • Chairperson • Operator • Administrator A Chairperson can only manage ongoin g conferences and particip ants.

12-1 12 IVR Service RMX 1000 provides a conf erence Interactive Voice Response (IVR) function which allows conference participants to use an endpoint input devi ce (such as a remote control) to interact with the conference following the voice and onscreen operation prompts used in the conference.

To record audio messages , use any so und recording u tility available in your computer or record them p rofessionally in a recording st udio.
