4 IMPOR T ANT SAFETY INFORMA TION W ARNING The unit’ s rear panel should never be opened b y any one other than a qualified ser viceperson. There are man y high voltage parts inside the unit, and touc hing them is dang erous.
5 Installation • When the cop yboard is mounted on a stand, be sure to lock the casters. • When mounting on a wall, be sure to check first that the w all surface is strong enough to support the total weight of the main unit and mount fittings ov er a long period of time (including dur ing ear thquakes).

8 Installation and Assembly Instructions To the Customer Specialized techniques are required in the w all mounting of the Copyboard. Please do not attempt any installation work unless y ou ha ve the techniques .
9 Read This Befor e Installing W ARNINGS • Be sure to install and assemble the cop yboard as instructed in this manual. Improper installation or assemb ly could lead to injur y . • At least two people should hold the cop yboard when installing and removing it.
10 Installing on a W all Par ts included in the cop yboard package: W all mount bar (1 pc), upper brack ets (2 pcs), Marker tra y (1 pc, with 2 side cov ers) and M4 x 8 marker tra y installation screw.
11 1 2 1 2 3 [Reference] Method of installation f or different wall materials Select the type of installation best suited for the w all material. If the wall is not strong enough, mount the cop yboard to columns or studs.
12 (4) Mount the 2 upper and 2 lower brac kets included with the cop yboard using M4 x 12 screws. • Both of the left and right upper brack ets are installed in the same orientation.
13 Installing on a Stand The optional stand kit f or both ver tical and horizontal installation (Model M-5-T , order code 44-562) is required to install the cop yboard on a stand.

16 (3) Mount the upper and lo wer brackets using M4 x 12 screws. • The left and right upper brack ets are different. Be sure to mount them on the proper side. (4) Hook the left and right upper brac k- ets of the Copyboar d onto the up- per crossbar and fasten the lo wer brac k-ets using the fixing knobs and hexa gon cap nuts.

21 Handling CF Memory Cards •W e recommend backing up data stored in the b uilt-in memor y or on CF memor y cards onto other recording media periodically to secure the data in case of damage or loss. • Note that PLUS will accept no responsibility whatsoe ver f or loss or damage of stored data.
22 Operating the Copyboar d 1 2 3 MEMO RY POWER CLEAR POSITION FEED /STOP POWER CLEAR POSITION These operations are required when storing the dra wings on the copyboard’ s sheet in the memory and when moving the sheet surface using the buttons.
23 ME MO POWER FEED /STOP MEMORY POWER CLEAR POSITION FEED /STOP Saving the Image on the Sheet Images dra wn on the sheet can be stored either in the built-in memor y or on a CF memor y card. This is a blac k and white copyboard. Images dra wn in color are stored in blac k and white.

25 POWER FEED /STOP CLEAR POSITION P O W E R C L E A R POSITION Clearing the built-in Memory Use this procedure to c lear all the image files in the built-in memory . Note: The procedure described below clears all the image files in the b uilt-in memor y .
26 Storing Image Files on a Computer The following describes the procedure for storing image files stored in the built-in memory or on a CF memory card onto a computer’ s hard disc and for er asing the files from the computer’ s hard disc.
27 M E M O R Y P O W E R C L E A R PO S ITIO N F E E D /S T O P To store image files from a CF memory card, insert the CF memory card into the copyboar d’ s card slot. There is no need to do this to store image files from the built-in memor y . Open “My Computer” of the computer .
28 Deleting files If the built-in memory or CF memor y card gets full, some im- age files must be deleted. (The built-in memory can be cleared completely using the CLEAR button on the cop yboard’ s control panel.) (1) Select the drive f or the built-in memor y or the CF memory card (steps to abov e).
29 “Remov e hardware” icon (example) Note: • Do not remov e the CF memor y card while files are be- ing stored (while the MEMOR Y indicator is blinking slowly). Doing so will damage the data. • The USB drive ma y not be disconnected proper ly , for e xample if the computer is in the process of chec king the status of peripherals.
30 Using a PC Car d Adapter or Memor y Card Reader/Writer (USB type) Prepare the optional or commercially a vailable memory card reader/writer or PC card adapter (for CF memory cards). 䡵 Using a PC car d adapter Insert the CF memor y card into the PC car d adapter .
31 䡵 Using a memory car d reader/writer (USB type) Insert the CF memor y card into the CF memory car d slot on the memory card reader/writer . Connect the memory card reader/writer to the computer’ s USB port. Open “My Computer” of the computer .
32 Tr oubleshooting Check the f ollowing before asking f or repairs. Symptom Po w er does not turn on when POWER b utton pressed Writing on the sheet does not erase with the eraser .

34 Quick Calibration The procedure described below is used to adjust (calibrate) f or optimum scanning condition of the sheet surf ace. P erform this quick calibr ation procedure after replacing the fluorescent lamp or if dar k lines appear in the horizontal direction when the cop yboard is mounted on the wall.
35 Softwar e Guide This guide cov ers the installation and star ting procedure for the software contained on the CD-ROM supplied with the Copyboard. See the software Help information for details about using the software.
36 Befor e Using the Softwar e Software Contents and Overview The supplied CD-ROM contains the software and man uals descr ibed below . See the Help information of the various software progr ams for inf or mation about how to use the software .
37 Windows 98SE Personal Computer and USB Connections Driver Setup (Windo ws 98SE) Note: • Do not connect the Copyboar d with the personal computer until Step . • When using Windows Me, 2000, or XP , driver setup is not required. Mak e a USB connection with the Copyboard.
38 Open the Device Manager screen and chec k the installation. 햲 Right click [My Computer], then clic k on [Proper ties] of the menu to open the [System Proper ties] screen. 햳 Click the tab of the De vice Manager to switch to the [De- vice Manager] screen.
39 Windows Me / 2000/ XP Personal Computer and USB Connections Setup of the driver is not required when USB connections are made betw een Windows Me / 2000 / XP personal computers and the Cop yboard. When the Cop yboard is first connected to the personal computer , the driver is installed automatically .
40 Disconnecting of the Copyboar d Please perform the f ollowing procedure when disconnecting the Cop yboard dur ing Windows operation. Note: The remov al icon or displayed message will diff er depending on the v ersion of Windo ws. Should this be the case, please perf or m the remov al operation using the same procedure.
41 M-5 Setup Utility The M-5’ s operating configuration can be changed using the M-5 setup utility . Contents: Image file format, image file time stamp , auto power off time, fluorescent lamp w ar m.
42 Electr onic User's Manual The User's Manual stored on the CD-R OM is in the PDF format. [Acrobat Reader] should first be installed if not already installed in the personal computer environment. 44 Deleting the Softwar e If the installed software is no longer needed, please perf or m the uninstall operation. Select [Start] → [Setting] → [Control P anel]. The Control P anel screen will be display ed. Double clic k "Add/Remove Pr ograms or Applica- tions" (which will differ depending on the OS).
