13 Manual Overview This manual provides the important information you need to make full use of your new Navigation Sys- tem. The beginning sections outline the Navigation System and describe its basic operation. The later sections describe the details of the navigation functions.
14 Terminology Before moving on, take a few minutes to read the following information about the conventions used in this manual. Familiarity with these conventions will help you greatly as you learn how to use your new equipment. • Buttons on your Remote Control or display are referred to as: e.
15 Map Discs for Navigation Sys- tem Configuration of data recorded on discs The map for this navigation system is supplied on two discs: one for the west and the other for the east. Please set the disc to use according to your destination or current location.

17 Chapter 1 Basic Operation Chapter 1 Basic Operation Flow from Startup to Termina- tion • If the program is not installed, see page 55 and install the program. At first, please confirm the positions of the follow- ing features using the navigation’s “Hardware Manual” or display’s “Operation Manual”.
18 Chapter 1 Basic Operation Basic Navigation The most frequently used function is the Address Search, in which the address is specified and the destination searched. This section describes how to use the Address Search and the basics of using the Navigation System.
19 Chapter 1 Basic Operation 5 Input the house number and touch “OK”. Touch the characters you wish to input. : The input text is deleted letter by letter from the end of the text. Continuing to press deletes all of the text. “Back” : Returns you to previous screen.

To enable these func- tions, you must stop in a safe place and put on the parking brake before setting your route.
28 Chapter 2 Setting a Route to Your Destination 6 Input the name of the POI. If the list does not automatically appear when the name of the POI has been entered, try touching “ OK ”. “City” : First, touch to specify the destination town or area.

39 Chapter 3 Editing the Navigation Utilities 1. Name The name can be used as a command for voice operation. 2. Address The address is registered when the search was made for the first time. (Not editable.) 3. Phone number You can search by registered telephone number.
40 Chapter 3 Editing the Navigation Utilities Deleting Address Book or Destination History Information Items registered in the Address Book or Destination History can be deleted. All entries of the data in the Address Book or Destination History can be deleted at once.

55 Appendix Appendix Installing the Program The program is installed to the Navigation Sys- tem using the application disc. This is not necessary if your dealer already performed the installation. When installing the program, you carry out the following operations.

59 Appendix Touch Panel Operation When Using NAVI Source When the system is combined with the Pioneer AV Head Unit or AV System Display, if you use the built-in DVD player to play a DVD-Video or CD when using the NAVI Source, the operation but- tons are displayed on the screen and a few lim- ited operations can be performed.

Check the installation position of the navigation unit of your Navigation System and the setting of the Instal- lation direction lever ( ➞ “Installation Manual”). Indication of the position of your vehicle is misaligned after a U-turn or reversing.

65 Appendix Route Setting Information Route search specifications Your Navigation System sets a route to your desti- nation by applying certain built-in rules to the map data. This section provides some useful information about how a route is set. • When a route is calculated, the route and voice guidance for the route is automati- cally set.
66 Appendix set by voice operation, only one route is calcu- lated. • Route setting is limited to the range of the disc in use. • The destination is too far, there may be instances where the route cannot be set. (If you want to set a long-distance route going across several areas, set way points along the way.
67 Appendix Types of the Road Stored in the Disc There are three types of roads in the map of this disc. Turn by Turn Routable Roads contain full attribute data and can be used for full Route Guidance. Pioneer Navigation will display full route guidance, including turn-by-turn voice directions and arrow icons.
68 Appendix Glossary This glossary explains some of the terms used in the manual. 3D Hybrid sensor The built-in sensor which enables the system to estimate your vehicle’s position. A learning function increases its accuracy and two sets of learning data can be stored in memory.
