8 C3412M-D (12/08) SW2 SWITCH 3: CONTROL SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY Coaxial Control Systems Although Spectra IV/S pectra IV SE dome systems can operate with coaxial control systems from many manufacturers, the system is designed for optimal performa nce with Pelco Coaxitron ® cont rol products with in the length sp ecified for coaxial cable.
C3412M-D (12/08) 9 SW2 SWITCHES 6–8: BAUD SETTINGS Pelco’ s D -type controllers are se t for 2400 baud. The d efault setting for the dome drive i s 2400 baud. If you are using a Pelco D-type controlle r , do not reset SW2 switches 1–3 or SW2 switc hes 6–8.

C3412M-D (12/08) 35 System Information The System Inf ormation me nu displa ys the dome dr ive model, sof tware ver sion, avai lable memory , DIP switch information, and other diag nostic information. System settings canno t be changed using this menu; this informa tion is for refer ence only .
36 C3412M-D (12/08) Display Setup Display setup allows you to pr ogram how labels are displayed on the moni tor . The following labels are available: PRESET LABEL: Identifies preset. ZONE LABEL: Identifies zone. ZOOM: Identifies the am ount of magnification .
C3412M-D (12/08) 37 LABEL POSITIONS Labels can be placed anywhere on the monitor . This feature allows you to customize the appearance of your monitor scree n. The following lab els are not set at fixed positions: PRESET LABE L ZONE LABEL ALARM 1 ZOOM RA TIO - XXX.
38 C3412M-D (12/08) Dome Settings CAMERA T YPE OF LIGHTING (Does not ap ply to 16X or 18X models. ) Pelco has calibrated settings tha t optimize the white balance and the p icture for several lighting conditions. Th ere are thre e settings: T1 (default): For use in outdoor applications.
C3412M-D (12/08) 39 ZOOM LIMIT Zoom limit allo ws the user t o define a limitation on the amoun t of teleph oto zoom. The settings vary dependin g on camera mo del. 16X (Models DD4TC 16 and DD4TC16-X) The defaul t setting is 32X. Cameras wit h 128X zoom (16X optical zoom an d 8X digita l zoom) can be set for 16 X, 32X, 64X, or 128X.
40 C3412M-D (12/08) ZOOM SPEED Zoom speed allo ws the user to define how f ast the dome will go from full wide zoom to the 16X, 18X, 22X, 23X, or 35X optical zoom. Avai lable zoom speed se ttings for 16X models includ e: HIGH: 1.9 s econds MEDIUM (default): 3.
C3412M-D (12/08) 41 IR CUT FILTER (Applies only to 18X, 23X, and 35X mo dels.) The 18X, 23X, and 35X camer as have two modes of operat ion: color , and black-white. Y ou can increase sensitivity in low light conditions by switching to black- white mod e (removing the IR cu t filter).
42 C3412M-D (12/08) ADVANCED CAMERA SETTINGS SHUTTER SPEED Shutter spee d is the duration of the electronic shutter . Program shutte r speed to operate automaticall y (Auto) or ma nually (Numer ic V alue). AUTO (default): The electronic shutter speed is set automatically by the amoun t of light sensed by the camera.
C3412M-D (12/08) 43 AUTO IRIS Auto iris is the lens function th at automatically opens and closes the ir is in response to chang ing light conditions. Program the a uto iris to operate au tomatically o r at a user-defined level. OFF: Auto iris is disabled, and control is always manual.
44 C3412M-D (12/08) AUTO SHARPNESS Auto sharpness enhances pictu re detail by increasing the aper ture gain of the camera and sharpening the edges i n the pict ure. There are two settings : ON (default): The ca mera automatica lly maintains a normal shar pness mode.
C3412M-D (12/08) 45 BACKLIGHT COMPENSATION (BLC) If a bright b acklight is present, t he subjects in the pict ure may appe ar dark or as a silho uette. Backlight compen sation enhances ob jects in the ce nter of th e picture. The dome uses the center of the picture to adjust the iris.
46 C3412M-D (12/08) SENSOR SCAN MODE (Applies only to 35X models.) Sensor scan mo de controls the intern al proces sing of the camera's image sensor . Th e data scanned from the image senso r at each field time is used fo r the internal ima ge control algorith ms and digita l signal pr ocessing (D SP).
C3412M-D (12/08) 47 ELECTRONIC IMAGE STABILIZATION (Applies only to 35X models.) Electronic i mage stabi lization is a f eature of the camer a that can compensate f or some forms of external in fluences. In all case s, care shoul d be taken to make sure that any dome system is mounted to a rigid location .
48 C3412M-D (12/08) IMAGE ENHANCEMENT (Applies only to 35X models.) The image en hancement feature imp roves the d efinition of objects, lines, or te xt in high contrast areas, making them appe ar sharper . There are two imag e enhancement sett ings: DEFAUL T : Image enhancement is not activated.
C3412M-D (12/08) 49 WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE (Applies only to 23X an d 35X models.) Wide dynamic ra nge (WDR) bal ances the br ightest an d darkest sections of a scene to p roduce a picture that is be tter balanced in lighting and provides more detail. Available setting s are OFF an d ON; the def ault sett ing is OFF .
50 C3412M-D (12/08) MOTION SETTINGS AUTO FLIP When the camera tilts do wnward and goes just beyo nd the vertical position , the dome rotates 180 degrees. Wh en the dome rotates (flips), the camera start s moving upward as long as you continue to hold the joyst ick in the down position.
C3412M-D (12/08) 51 PARK T IME This feature allows t he dome to begin a spe cified operation (sca n, preset, or patte rn) after a programmed time of i nactivity. Park time can be programmed fr om 1–720 minutes (1 2 hours), or set to zero, which disables th is feature.
52 C3412M-D (12/08) SCAN SPEED Scan speed is the degrees per se cond that the dome will pan when in a scan mode. Scan speed i s adjustable fr om 1 to 40 degrees per secon d through the prog ramming menu. The def ault setting is 25 degrees per sec ond.
C3412M-D (12/08) 53 LIMIT STOPS Limit stops are programmab le stops th at limit the pan r ange of th e dome. Ther e must be tw o limits, a left and a right, to de fine an area. There are two types of limit stops: MANUAL: A manual (j oystick) pan operation stops when a limit stop is reached.
54 C3412M-D (12/08) AZIMUTH ZERO Azimuth is the pan angle from zero to 359 degrees. Azimuth zero is the pan po sition you spe cify to be the zero de gree point. A zimuth zero i s normally set to magnetic north. Once set, azimuth and compass readings are base d on the set Azimuth Zero po int.
C3412M-D (12/08) 55 POWER UP POWER UP ACTION This setting defin es a specific ac tivity (scan, preset, pattern) to be perf ormed in the event the power to th e dome is cy cled. The following settings ar e available: NONE: No action. AUTO (default): The do me resume s its prior activity o r directi on before th e power outa ge.
56 C3412M-D (12/08) LINE SYNC Line sync refers to a programmab le function that allows you to synchronize all ca meras within a matrix system. Spectra IV and Spectr a IV SE dome systems aut omatically sense V-Sync input. N o line sync setup is required for Pelco c ontrol syste ms that pro vide a V-Sync signal.
C3412M-D (12/08) 57 PRESETS The model of t he back box you are using limits the number of prog rammable preset s that can be stored and retr ieved in the back box memor y . If you are usi ng an older model back bo x, you may pro gram and use up to the maximum nu mber of presets available to the dome drive.
58 C3412M-D (12/08) Note: For American Dyna mics controll ers with only 32 presets, switch SW2-1 on the dome drive to the ON position. When SW 2-1 is ON, preset 99 becomes 32 92 becomes 25 98 becomes .

ON: Motion detect ion is turned on (enabled ). Note: Motion detec tion does not work if the shutte r speed is se t at less th an 1/60 of a second.

C3412M-D (12/08) 63 PATTERNS A pattern is a memorized, repea ting series of pan, tilt , zoom, and pr eset funct ions that ca n be recalled with a command from a con troller or au tomatically by a progra mmed function (alarm, park, event, or power -up).
64 C3412M-D (12/08) ZONES A zone is a pa n area, d efined by a left and ri ght limit, on the 36 0-degree p an plane. The Spectra IV and Spectra IV SE dome systems are capable of ei ght zone s, each with a 20-c ha racter label. T o program a zone: 1. Use the joystick to position the cursor be side ZONE NUMBER.
C3412M-D (12/08) 65 WINDOW BLANKING Window blanking allows a us er to prog ram four-sided areas that ca nnot be v iewed by the operator of the dome system. A blank ed area will move with pan and tilt functions and automatically adjust in size as the lens zooms telephoto an d wide.
66 C3412M-D (12/08) 6. The bla nked area c an be progr ammed to t urn on or o ff at a spe cified zoom point. T o set the zoom point: a. Use the joystick to position the cursor be side EDIT WINDOW ZOOM, and th en press Iris Open. b. Zoom in to the point where you wan t window blanking to turn on.
C3412M-D (12/08) 67 BLANK ALL ABOVE/BLANK ALL BELOW The Blank A ll Above an d Blank All Be low options add additio nal flexib ility to s etting up pri vacy areas . These sett ings are ideal for applications where a comple te pan location needs to be blanked.
68 C3412M-D (12/08) ALARMS The Spectra IV SE dome systems have seven alarm inputs that can be programmed as high, medium, or low priority . When an alarm is receive d , an input signal to the do me triggers the user - defined action (go to pres et, run pattern, etc.
C3412M-D (12/08) 69 3. Select the alarm pr iority: a. Use the jo ystick to po sition the cu rsor bes ide ALARM PRIO RITY . b. Press Iris Open. The cursor moves to the right. c. Move the joystick up or do wn t o view the available selections. Available settings include HIGH, MEDIUM, and LO W (default).
70 C3412M-D (12/08) 5. Set the auxiliary to activate: a. Use the joystick to position the cursor be side ACTIV A TE AUX. b. Press Iris Open. The cursor moves to the right. c. Move the joystick up or down to view the followi ng available selections. NO (default): Not activated.
C3412M-D (12/08) 71 AUX Note: If a 16X or 18X model do me drive is install ed in a Spectra II I SE or Spectr a IV SE back box, the auxiliary feature is f unctional and ava ilable. If a 16X or 1 8X model is installed in a stan dard Spectra III o r Spectra IV back box, the auxil iary feature is not ava ilable.

C3412M-D (12/08) 73 ALERT Note: The Alert opt ion applies only to Pres surized Spect ra IV dome syste ms. Spectra IV systems that are not pr essurized will not display this menu item. Sensors strate gically pla ced inside t he pressurized dome system c ontinually monit or pressur e, temperature, and dew po int.
74 C3412M-D (12/08) ACK ACTION Set ACK ACTION to prog ram the frequency at which an aler t message is displayed after the ale rt condition h as been ackno wledged. T he following settings a re available : AL WA YS O N: The alert me ssage is displayed until a lert conditions ar e cleared.
C3412M-D (12/08) 75 CLEAR Use this setting to cle ar user -defined settings or ret urn the dome to fact ory default settings. The following are the available set tings: ALL ZONES: Clears all zones. T o clear a single zone, refer to Zones on page 64. ALL PRESETS: Clears all pre sets.
76 C3412M-D (12/08) PASSWORD Spectra IV and Spectra IV SE fe ature passwor d protecti on to prev ent unauth orized change s to the dome settings. An operator ca n open the System Inform ation and Display Setup me nus, but cannot access any of th e dome sett ings menus.
C3412M-D (12/08) 77 CLOCK The clock is used to program the curr ent date an d time. Th e date and time set in the Clock me nu is used to program even ts. The date and time can a lso be displayed on the monitor whe n the menus are not being accessed. T o p rogram the c lock, do th e followin g: 1.
