Using the optical driv e Inserting an optical disc T o inser t an optical disc: 1. While your system is on, press the eject button to open the tray . 2. Place the disc on the optical drive with the label side outward if the desktop is positioned vertically and the label side up if the desktop is positioned horizontally .
W ired connection Use an RJ-45 cable to connect your computer t o a DSL/cable modem or a local area network (LAN). Connecting via a DSL/cable modem T o connect via a DSL/cable modem: 1. S et up your DSL/cable modem. Refer to the documentation that came with y our DSL/cable modem.
RJ-45 cable LAN Connecting via a local area network (LAN) T o connect via a LAN: 1. Connec t one end of an RJ-45 cable to the LAN (RJ-45) port on the rear panel of your computer and the other end to your LAN. 2. Turn on your comput er . 3. Configure the necessary I nternet connection settings.
Configuring a dynamic IP/PPP oE network connection T o configure a dynamic IP/PPPoE netw ork connection: 1. From the Start screen, click Desktop to launch the Desktop mode. 2. Fr om the Window s ® taskbar , right-click the network icon and click Open Network and Sharing Cent er .
6. Click Obtain an IP address automatically and click OK . Continue to the next steps if you are using PPP oE connection. 8. Select Connect to the Internet and click Nex t . 7. R eturn to the Network and Sharing Cent er and then click Set up a new connection or network .
9. Select Broadband (PPPoE) and click Nex t . 10. En ter your User name and, P assword, and Connection name. Click Connect . 11. Click Close to finish the configuration. 12. Click the network icon in the taskbar and click the connection you just created.
