Prepara tion 12 VQT0S4 6 Charging the Battery with the Charger When the camera is shipped, the battery is not charged. Charge the batter y before use. 1 Attach the battery with atte ntion to the direct ion of the battery . 2 Connect the AC C able. • The AC Cable does not fit entirely into the A C input terminal.

When you turn the camera on, the f ollowing screen appears. • T ake the lens cap off before setting the date and time. • Press the [MENU] button, the screen shown in step 1 appears.

Subjects such as people become dark when pictures are recorded in the backlight. If you press e , [ 0 ] (compensating backlight ON indication) appears and th e backlight compensation function is activated.

Recording p ictures (basic) 45 VQT0 S46 T aking Pictures using A uto Brac ket In this mode, 3 pictures are automatically recorded by each press of the shutter button according to the compensation range of the exposure. Y ou can select the desired exposure among the 3 types of pictures .

T he flash will be weaker than normal if you choose to use it. • Y ou can also enter your baby’ s age so t hat it appears when y ou are showing the picture later .

Recording pictures (a dvanced) 67 VQT0 S46 This mode allows you to take a picture in locations such as skiing resor ts and locations near sn owy mountains. The ex posure and t he white balance are adjusted to make t he white colour of the snow stand out.

Fix the camera f ir mly and then press the shutter button fully .

Y ou can select 4 types of quality (compression rate) acc ording to the usage of the picture. • Whe n the qua lity is se t to [TI FF] or [R AW], a JPEG picture with the quality equal to the Standard [ H ] is created at the same time.

Y ou can take a picture with audio . • Whe n you set [ AUDIO RE C.] to [ ON], [ I ] appears on the screen. • When y ou star t recording by f ocusing on the subject and pres sing the shutter butt on, the audio recording will be automatically stopped in 5 seconds.

Recording pictur es (advanced) 76 VQT0S4 6 For setting, see page 69. This mode allows you to compose a picture more easily by alw ays f ocusing on the subject. When the AF mode is set to 1-area- focusing, 1-area-f oc using (high s peed) or spot-focusing, the time required f or focusing when pressing the shutter button halfwa y will be reduced.

Locking the e xposure is useful if there is e xtreme contrast in the shot and you cannot get t he best exposure.
