19 1. Be fore Use There are 2 ways to operate the rear di al, ro tating left or right, and deciding by pressing. Rotatin g: Selection of items or setting of values is performed during the various settings. Pressing: Operations that are the same as [MENU/SET] button , such as determine settings, etc.

21 2 . Prep arations before Record ing Att achi ng the Lens Hood In bright sunlight or backlight, the lens hood will minimize lens flare and ghosting. The lens hood cut s off excess lighting and improves the picture quality . • Do not hold the le ns hood in a way that twis t s or bends it.

4. Recor ding Modes 80 Recor ding Mode : When [iHandheld Night Shot] is set to [ON] and [ ] is detected while taking handheld night shots, pictures of the night scenery will be taken at a high burst speed and composed into a single picture.
81 4. Recor ding Modes Recor ding Mode : When [iHDR] is set to [ON] and there is, for example, strong contrast between the background and t he subject, multiple still pict ures are recor ded with differing exposures and combined to create a single still picture rich in gradation.

Recor ding Modes 84 T aking Pi ctures with Y our Favorite Set tings (Program AE Mod e) Recor ding Mode : The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and the aperture value according to the brightness of the subject. Y ou can t ake pictures with greater freedom by changing various s ettings in the [Rec] menu.
85 4. Recor ding Modes In Program AE Mode, you can change the pres et aperture value and shutter speed without changing the exposure. This is called Program Shif t.
