Preparation 11 VQT0R57 Quic k Guide This is the ov er view of the procedure to record and playbac k pictures with the camera. For each operation, be s ure to refer to the correspond ing pages. 1 Charge the battery . (P12) • When the camera i s shipped, the battery is not char g ed.
Prepara tion 12 VQT0R57 Char ging the Battery with the Char ger When the camera is shipped, the battery is not charged. Charge the battery before use. 1 Attach the battery wi th attention to the direct ion of the battery . 2 Connect the A C cable. • The AC cab l e does not fit entirely into the A C input terminal.
Preparation 13 VQT0R57 About the Batt er y ∫ Batter y indication The remaining battery power app ears on the screen. [It does not appear when you use the camera along with the AC adaptor (DMW-A C5; optional).] • The battery indicat ion turns red and b l inks .

When the card access indication lights, pictures are being read or deleted, or the card is cleaned up (P81) or f or matted, do not: • tur n the camera off .

Prepara tion 18 VQT0R57 Setting Date /Time (Cloc k Set) ∫ Init ial se ttin g The clock is not set w hen the camera is shipped. When you turn the camera on, the fol lowing screen appears. • When pres sing the [MENU] button, the screen shown in step 1 appears.
Preparation 19 VQT0R57 About the Set up Menu • Set the items if necessar y . (Re f er to P20 – 22 f or each menu item.) 1 T urn the camera on. • The m enu items depend on the mode selected with the mode dial (P26). In this page, the items in n ormal picture mode [ ] are indicated.

Preparation 21 VQT0R57 [ECONOMY] The brightness of the LCD monitor is reduced, and the battery life is sa v ed by tur ning off the LCD monitor automatically while the camera is not in use in the recording mode. (Press a ny button to recover from the economy mode.
Prepara tion 22 VQT0R57 [RESET] The settings on t he [REC] or the [SE TUP] menu are reset to the initial settings. • The bir thday sett ing f or [BABY] in the scene mode (P53) is also reset when the settings in the [SETUP] menu are reset. [RO T A TE DISP .
Preparation 23 VQT0R57 About the LCD Monitor A LCD monitor (LCD) Press the [DISPLA Y ] b utton to change the display . • When t he menu screen appears, the [DISPLA Y] button is not a ctiv ated. During 9 pictures multi pla yback (P46) or play back zoom (P47), the indications on the screen can be tur ned on and off.
Prepara tion 24 VQT0R57 ∫ T o view the LCD monitor outd oors on a bright sunny day (P ower LCD function ) When you press and hold the [PWR LCD] button f or 1 second, t he power LCD function is activat ed. The LCD monitor becomes br ighter than usual and easier to see outdoors.
Preparation 25 VQT0R57 ∫ Histogram • A histogram is a graph that displa ys brightness along the horizontal axis (b lack to white) and the number of pixels at each brightness lev el on the vertical axis. • It a llo ws the camera us er to easily c heck the wa y a picture is being e xposed.

The subjects such as people become dar k when pictures are recorded in backlight. The soft ware [LUMIX Simple V iew er] (for Windo ws ® ) in the CD-R OM (supplied) allows you to load pictures recorded with the camera to a PC , pr int, or send them by e-mail easily .

Connectin g to a PC or P rinter 90 VQT0R57 ∫ Setting the date printi ng with the DPOF print in ad v ance When the printer suppor ts the date print ing by DPOF setting, we recommend setting the date pr inting with the DPOF print in advance (P76). The recording date can be printed by selecting [DPOF PICTURE] to star t printing.
