VQT1 T03 ( ENG) 10 Preparation Charging the Battery • Use the dedicate d charger and ba ttery . • The batter y is not charg ed when the cam era is shipp ed. Charge the battery befor e use. • Charge the batter y with the ch arger indoors . • Charge the battery in a temperature be tween 10 o C to 35 o C.

Slide the r elease le ver in the direction of the arrow and open th e card/battery door . • Always use genuine Panasonic batteries (CGA-S005E).
13 (ENG ) VQT1 T03 Setting Date/Time (Clock Set) • The cl o ck is not set when the c amera is sh ipped. Press [MENU/SET]. Pr ess 3 / 4 to select the language , and press [MENU/SET]. • The [P LEASE SET THE CLOCK] message appears. (This mess age does not appear in [PLA Y BACK ] mode .
VQT1 T03 ( ENG) 14 Setting the Menu The camera comes with menus that allow you to set the sett ings for taking pictures and playing them back just as you like and menus that enable you to have more fun wit h the camera and us e it more ea sily .

17 (ENG ) VQT1 T03 Mode switching Selecting the [REC] Mode When the [ REC] mode is s elected, the camera c an be set to t he Intelligent auto mode in which the optimal settings are established in line.
VQT1 T03 ( ENG) 18 [REC] mode : ñ Basic T a king pictures usin g the automatic function ( ñ : Intelligent Au to Mode) The camera will set the most appropriate settings t o match the s ubject and the recor ding conditions so we recommend t his mode for beginners or those wh o want to leave t he settings to the c amera and take pictures easily .
19 (ENG ) VQT1 T03 When the c amera identifies the o ptimum scene, the icon of the scene concer ned is displayed in blue for 2 se conds, after wh ich its colour changes to the usual red. • [ ¦ ] is set if non e of the scenes are appli c able, and t he standard se ttings ar e set.
VQT1 T03 ( ENG) 20 [REC] mode: ³ T a king pictures with your favourite settings ( ³ : Program AE mo de) Many more menu items can be se t and you can take pictures with greater freedom than when you take pictures in the Intelligent auto mode. Aim the AF area at the subject, and t h en press the shutter button halfway .

T o make s ubjects appear even closer [maximum of 7.7 k ], do not set t he picture size to the highest se tting for each aspect ratio ( X / Y / W ).

Use of th e “ PHOTOf unSTUDIO-viewer- ” bundled software on th e CD-ROM (supplied) is a conveni ent way of d oing this.
