- 7 - Preface This is an HD/SD multi-f or mat camera that adopts 14-bit analog to digital conv ersion and digital video signal processing, with a compact and lightweight 2/3˝ 3CCD system off er ing high reliability and av ailability of multiple functions.
- 8 - Features The camera features high reliability thr ough adoption of 14-bit analog to digital con version and digital video signal processing. Compatible with multiple f ormats • The f ormat can be switched between 1080i, 720p , and 480i.
- 9 - Special notes on operation T ur n power off bef ore connecting or disconnecting cables . Connection or disconnection of any studio cab le or other cable to an y unit of equipment must be performed while power is off .
- 10 - Precautions f or use DON’TS Do not attempt to disassemble the camer a or other units. In order to pre vent electric shoc k, do not remov e screws or cov ers. There are no user-ser viceable parts inside. Do not abuse the camer a. A void striking, shaking, etc.
- 11 - DOS Ref er any servicing to qualified ser vice personnel. Handle the camera with care. Protect the precision made lens by placing the lens cap ov er when the camera is not in use. If the lens is not installed, protect the surf ace of the prism by placing the body cap into the lens mount hole.
- 12 - Precautions f or installation Concerning the installation location of the camera Ensure that the installation location is strong enough to bear at least five times the total w eight of the camera, lens, and cables (appro x.
- 13 - Concerning the mounting screws and dr op-prevention wire Attach the drop-pre vention wire as a w ay to pre vent the camera from dropping. When the unit is to be mounted onto a P anasonic pan-tilt head, use the mounting screws and drop-pre vention wire that are supplied with the pan-tilt head.
- 14 - P ar ts to be pro vided by the customer for installation Provide the f ollowing par ts when the unit is to be mounted onto a surf ace other than a pan-tilt head. When the unit is to be mounted onto a P anasonic pan-tilt head, use the mounting screws and drop-pre vention wire that are supplied with the pan-tilt head.

- 19 - Mounting Lens mounting Use the 2/3˝ ba yonet type lens (such as the A W -LZ17MD9AG and AK-LZ20M85G), av ailable as an optional accessor y . Use the A W -LZ17MD9AG lens when using the camera mounted on the pan-tilt head A W -PH360. Lenses other than the A W -LZ17MD9AG cannot be used.

- 23 - 3. When mounting the camera onto a pan-tilt head (A W -PH400), do not use the anchor ing rubber piece supplied with the pan-tilt head. If this rubber piece is used, the camera’ s ventilation holes will be bloc ked, causing the temperature inside the camera to rise and possibly resulting in a malfunction.

- 49 - Use mode setting Use Mode Setting The camera has f our use modes, and various functions f or four use modes hav e been preset. Functions can be set as best suited to each use mode. Halogen mode Suited to indoor shooting, such as at weddings, parties, lecture meetings, e vents, etc.
- 50 - Use mode setting Selecting 1. T ur n the camera on while keeping the MENU s witch depressed. The use mode setting menu appears on the monitor screen. 2. The cursor mov es each time the UP/ABB switch or the DO WN/BAR s witch is pressed. Mov e the cursor to the desired use mode.
- 51 - Operating pr ocedure 1 T urn on the po wer of the camera and other units. 2 Adjust the lighting of the subject to the appropriate le vel. 3 Select the operating mode. Once the mode has been selected, it need not be selected again when the camera is going to be used under the same conditions.
- 52 - Adjustment Flange back adjustment (For zoom lens) This is f or adjusting the zoom lens f ocus over the entire f ocusing range from the TELE end to the WIDE end. 1. Fully open the iris by shooting a dark object. 2. Aim the camera at any object o ver 6.
- 53 - White balance adjustment Automatic white balance contr ol (A WB: A WB A/A WB B) When “A WB A” or “A WB B” has been selected as the white balance setting on the Color Set sub menu (pages 62, 70), two sets of color temperature conditions can be preset (stored in the memor y): one set f or A and another set f or B.
- 54 - White balance ma y not be correctly set if the lighting of the object is too weak. Since the camera has a b uilt-in memor y , the set white balance will remain in the memor y e ven if power is turned off . Therefore , it is not necessar y to reset the white balance if the color temperature of those objects remains unchanged.
- 55 - Blac k balance adjustment Close the lens. If the motor dr iv e lens is controlled from the camera, the lens is automatically closed when the blac k balance is adjusted. The R/B pedestal adjustment of painting setting will be automatically reset to ±0 after setting the blac k balance.
- 56 - T otal pedestal level adjustment (Use an oscilloscope or a wa vef or m monitor for this adjustment.) This step is to adjust the blac k lev els (pedestal lev els) of two or more cameras to be the same . Please contact your dealer f or the adjustment.
- 57 - Adjustment Genloc k adjustment Phase adjustments must be perf or med with the camera menu when e xter nal synchronizing signals are supplied to the system in cases where multiple cameras are used or peripheral devices are connected. Please contact your dealer f or the adjustment.
- 58 - • When adjusting the phase of SD signals Obser v e the wav eforms of the external synchronizing input signal (blac k burst signal) and video output signal on a two-channel oscilloscope. Then match the horizontal phase of both signals by adjusting them with the horizontal phase control of the camera menu.

Adjust the color phase of the camera to the basic color tone such as program output signal (split color bar output signal) from the color special eff ect generator .
