Chapter 3 Entering Data on Y our Handheld 22 Y ou can display four dif fer ent keyboar ds. Using Graffiti ® 2 wr iting Y our handh eld has Graf fiti 2 help that describes the characters and writing pr ocedures for Graf fiti 2. This section contains ta bles of all t he Graff iti 2 characters.
Using Graffiti ® 2 writi ng 23 The input ar ea has two dif ferent G raff iti 2 scr eens that you can acces s from the status bar . The two Graf fiti 2 scr eens have designated a reas that r ecognize certain characters. If those characters ar e written in the wr ong area, they a re not r ecognized corr ectly and an incorr ect character is written.

Beaming da ta 29 Graffi ti 2 ShortCut s Graf fiti 2 writing comes with several predefi ned ShortCuts. Y ou can also cr eate you own shortcuts. See “ShortCuts Pr efer ences” in Chapter 21 to learn about cr eating ShortCuts. T o use a ShortCut, draw the ShortCut stroke f ollowed by the ShortCut characters.

S ending data 31 4. When the Beam Status dial og box appears, point the IR port dir e ctly at the IR port of the r eceiving devic e. For best r esults, Palm handhelds should be between 10 centimeters (appr oximately 4 inches) a nd 1 meter (appr ox imately 39 inches ) apart, and the path between the two handhelds must b e clear of obstacle s.

The Bluetooth devi ce must be discoverable and must be posi tioned within 10 meters (appr oximately 3 0 feet) of your handheld.

37 CHAPT ER 4 W orking with Applications This chapter explains how to open and switch between applic ations on your handheld, how to change application se ttings so they ar e personalized to your work methods, and how to categori ze applications so you view them in r elated gr oups.
Chapter 4 W orking with Applicat ions 38 T o o pen an applica tion on your handhe ld: 1. T ap the Home icon . 2. T ap the icon of the application that you want to open. If you have many applications i nstalled on your handheld, tap the scr oll bar to see all your applications.
Categorizing application s 39 Categorizing applications Y ou can assign an application to a category and then display a single category or all your applica tions. By default, your handhel d includes system-defined c ategories, such as All and Unfiled, and user -defined ca tegories, such as Games, Main, a nd System.
