En-12 Connections Connecting the AV Receiver Connecting the Speaker Ca bles The following illustration sh ows how to connect the speakers to each pair of terminals. ■ Push-type speaker terminals Strip 3/8" to 1/2" (10 to 12 mm) of insulation from the ends of the speaker cables, and twist the bar e wires tightly, as shown.
Connections En-13 Speaker Configuration The following table indicates the channels you should use depending on the number of speakers that you have. No matter how many speakers you use, a powered subwoofer is recommended for a really p owerful and solid bass.
Connections En-14 Speaker Connecti on Precautions Read the following before connecting your speakers: • You can connect speakers with an impedance of between 6 and 16 ohms. If you use speakers with a lowe r impedance, and use the amplif ier at high volume levels for a long period of time, the built-in am p protection circuit may be activated.
Connections En-15 Connecting AV components a • Before making any AV connections, read the manuals supplied with your AV components. • Don’t connect the power cord until you’ve completed and double-checked all AV connections. • Push plugs in all the way to make good connections (l oose connections can cause noise or malfunctions).

Advanced Operations En-39 Menu HDMI Input If you connect a video compone nt to an HDMI input, you must assign that input to an i nput selector. For example, if you connect your Blu-ray Disc/DVD player to HDMI IN 2 , you must assign “ HDMI2 ” to the “ BD/DVD ” input selector.

En-48 Controlling Other Components iPod/iPhone Playback via Onkyo Dock RI Dock With the RI Dock, you can easily play the music stored on your Apple iPod/iPhone through th e AV receiver and enjoy great sound, and watch iPod/iP hone slideshows and videos on your TV.
Controlling Other Components En-49 By pressing the REMOTE MODE button that’s been programmed with the remote control code for your Dock, you can control your iPod/iPhone in the Dock with the buttons described further in this section.
