3 EN Introduction Thank you for purchasing the OMRON M3 Intellisense Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor . The OMRON M3 Intellisense is a fully automatic blood pressure monitor , ope rating on the oscillometric principle. It measures your blood pressure an d pulse rate simply and quickly .

9 2.Preparation EN Battery Life & Replacement If the battery low symbol ( ) appears on the display , replace all four batteries a t the same time. - When the battery low symbol ( ) start s to blink, you will still be able to use the unit for a short while.

13 2.Preparation EN 2.3 Adjusting the Settings Modes Y ou can modify th e options fo r the variou s settings of your unit. This is done by pressin g the SET button to select a setting, then pres sing the MEM ORY button to sele ct the option s for that setting.

16 3.Using the Unit 3.2 Applying the Arm Cuff Be sure to wrap the arm cuff co rrectly so that you get accurate results. Measureme nts can be taken in light c lothing. Ho wever , please remove thick clothes, such as sweaters, before taking a reading. 1.
17 3.Using the Unit EN 3. Position the arm correctly . T aking measurements on the right arm Apply the cuf f so that the air tube is at the side of your elbow . • Be careful not to rest your arm o n the air tu be, or otherwise restrict the flow of air to the cuff.
18 3.Using the Unit 3.3 T aking a Reading 1. Press the O/I ST ART button to turn on t he unit. Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor and place your arm on a table so that the cuff will be at the same level as your heart. Keep still and do not talk during measurement.
19 3.Using the Unit EN 2. Check the measurement results. The unit automatically stores blood pressure and pulse rate into it s memory . Refer to “3.5 Using the Memory F unction”. The buzzer will sound when measurement is co mpleted. Notes: • Self-dia gnosis of measured re sults and tre atment are dangerous.
20 3.Using the Unit • Y our blood pressure monitor includes an irregular he artbeat feat ure. Irregu lar heartbea ts can influence the re sults of the measur ement. The irregular hear tbeat algorithm automatically determines if the meas urement is usable or needs to be repe ated.
21 3.Using the Unit EN What is Arrhythmia ? A heartbeat is stimula ted by el ectrical signals that cause the heart to contract. Arrhythmia is a condition where the he artbeat rhythm is abnormal due to flaws in the bio- electrical system that drives the heartbeat.
22 3.Using the Unit 3.4 Instructions for special conditions If your systolic pressure is known to be more than 220 mmHg, press and hold the O/I ST ART b utton until the arm cuf f inflates 30 to 40 mmHg higher than your suspected systolic pr essure. 1.
23 3.Using the Unit EN 3.5 Using the Memory Function This unit has a memory capab le of storing 42 sets of read ings. Every time you complete the me asurement, the unit automatically stores the blood pr essure and pulse rate. If there are three readin gs within 10 minutes of the last reading, the average of th e three readings is displayed.
24 3.Using the Unit 2. Press the MEMORY bu tton again, while the average values screen is displayed. The result from the most recent measurement is displa yed. The date and time of each measurement is displa yed alternately with the me asurement values.
25 3.Using the Unit EN T o Delete All the V alu es Stored in Memory Y ou cannot d elete individual stored readin gs, all the readings in the unit will be deleted. 1. T o delete stored readings, first press the MEMORY button. Then while holding it down, press the O/I ST ART button simultaneously for about 2-3 seconds.

31 6.Maintenance a nd Storage EN 6. Maintenance and S torage Maintenance T o protect your unit from damage, please observe the following: • Do not subject the main unit and cuff to extreme temperatures, humidity , moisture or direct sunlight. • Do not fold the cuff or tubing tightly .
32 6.Maintenance and Storage Calibration and Service • The accuracy of this blood pressu re monitor has been carefully tested and is designe d for a long service life. • It is generally recommend ed to have the unit inspected every two years to ensure correct functioning and accur acy .
33 6.Maintenance a nd Storage EN Storage Keep the unit in it s storage case when not in use. 1. Unplug the air tube from th e air jack. 2. Gently fold the air tube into t he arm cuff. Note: Do not bend the air tube excessively . 3. Place the arm cuf f and main unit in the storage case.
