1 About the Wireless LAN Connection Guide This guide explains the wireless LAN fe atures built into the COOLPIX S610c to help you enjoy my Picturetown using t he wireless LAN featur es. Read this guide thoroughly before use, and keep it where all thos e who use the camera will read it.

4 The Wireless LAN Features and my Picturetown The wireless LAN communication features buil t into the COOLPIX S610c can be used to upload pictures from the camera to the my Picturetown server over the Internet.
The Wireless LAN Features and my Picturetown 5 Picture Mail Pictures and recip ients are sele cted and uploaded to the my Picturetown serv er using the camera. E-mail notification is au tomatically sent to selected re cipi ents, allowing these family and friends to view your pic tures.
6 my Picturetown Setup Workflow Before taking advantage of m y Picturetown services using the wireless LAN features of th e COOLPIX S610c, the camera’s wireless settings must be configured and you must register with my Picturetown. These two processes are ge nerally referred to as “setup.
my Picturetown Setup Workflow 7 D The my Picturetown Utility • The my Picturetown Utility (hereafte r “Utility“) is software that can be insta lled on a computer and used to config ure the camer.
8 First Steps C onfirming W ireless LAN C onnection Requirements One of the following conditions must be met in order to use the wireless LAN connection features.
First Steps 9 Ready Information Requir ed for W ireless LAN C onnec tion Network Profile Retrieve settings for the wirele ss LAN network to which the camera will be connected. This information is necessary when sett ing up the camera’s network profile ( A 17, 28).
First Steps 10 IP address (ho me wireless LAN only) This is a unique identifier assigned to communication device s on a computer netwo rk. The IP address can be acquired automa tically with this camera.
First Steps 11 my Picturetown User Information The following information is required to register user information and the camera ( A 20, 33, 41) with my Picturetown, and to log-in to my Picturetown ( A 51) after picture upload. E-mail address You must regist er a computer e-mail addres s with my Picturetown.
First Steps 12 Picture Mail Recipients The following information is required to upload pictures using Picture Mail. See “ o Specifying Picture Mail Recipients /Recipient Groups” ( A 22) or “ c Specifying Picture Mail Recipients /Recipient Groups” ( A 34) for more information.
13 Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings W ireless Settings Using the Utility The camera’s wireless settings can be config ured from a computer using the Utility (my Picturetown Utility).
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 14 2 Enter the computer’s administrator na me and password (Macintosh onl y). Enter the computer’s admi nistrator name and password, and then click OK .
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 15 C Uninstallin g the Ut ility Windows: Select Start > All Programs > my Picturetown Utility > m y Picturetown Utility Uninstall and follow the on-screen instructio ns to complete uninstallation.

Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 17 m Configuring a Network Profile Enable co nnection o f the came ra to the In ternet via a wireless LA N access p oint. Use the Utility to apply the same networ k set tings used by the wir eless LAN network to the ca mera.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 18 4 Configure Network name (SSID) ( A 9), Authentication ( A 9), and Encryption ( A 9), and click Next . Enter the encryption key for the selec ted authentication method in the Encryption key ( A 9) field and select a Key index ( A 9) option.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 19 7 An Action completed successfully dialog will be displayed. When setting up the wireless LAN features of the came ra for the first time, choose Yes, register now and click Next . Proceed to “ n Entering my Pictureto wn User Information” ( A 20).
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 20 n Entering my Picturetown User Information Store the information requir ed for my Pictur etown user registrati on with the camera and send it to my Picturetown. This informatio n is necessary to log-in to my Picturetown after picture upload.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 21 2 Check that the information is correct and click Next . The Action completed successfully dial og, with options for finishing or performing another action, will be displayed, and the e-mail address and nicknam e will be stored in the came ra.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 22 o Specifying Picture Mail Recipients/Recipient Groups Specify recipients (aliases and e-mail addresse s) of e-mail notifi cati on sent after picture upload. Groups containing multiple recip ients can also be created.

Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 24 C Entering a Password If the camera is protected with a pass word, the pass word entry sc reen is displayed when configuring the camera’s wireless settings or uploading pi ctures using the wireless LAN features.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 25 q Finishing Wireless Settings Once the camera’s wireless settings have be en configured, finish the Utility. 1 Finish the Utility. Choose Finish wizard and click Next . 2 Disconnect the camera from the computer.

Rotate the rotary multi selector, or pr ess H , I , J , or K , to choose a charac ter or G , H , I , or J in the keyboard area.

To enter a f ixed IP address , choose Manual a nd press the k button. Specify the IP address , Subnet mask , Gateway , Primar y DNS , and Secondary DNS settings ( A 10).

Enter an e-mail address comprised of up t o 64 re cognized e-mail charact ers. E-mail addresses for only cer tain models of ce llul ar telepho nes, available in the United States, a re supported ( A 5).

This is u seful when Picture Mail is often sent to t he same group of recipients. I f individual recipients ( A 34) have not been registered, register r ecipients before creating a recipient group.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 37 Protecting Wireless LAN Information Stored in the Camera (Applying a Password/R esetting the Camera) A password ( A 12) can be applied to prevent access.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 38 Resetting the Camera Follow the instructions below to reset all wi reless LAN connection settings, including the camera’s password, stored in the camera. Use the Reset option to dele te all user information stored in the camera before transf erring it to anot her owner.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 39 Configuring a Network Profile for a Home Wirele ss LAN Using WPS The network profile for a home wireless LAN can be easily configured i f the wireless LAN access point supports WPS. WPS supports two configuration methods: Push-Button Configuration (PBC) and Personal Identification Number (PIN) method.
Configuring the Camera’s Wireless Settings 40 Configuring a Network Profile Using the PIN Method 1 Establish a cabled or wi reless connectio n between the compute r and access point, and open the acc ess point’s WPS configura tion page on the com puter.
41 Registering with my Picturetown Registration (creation of a us er account) with my Picturetown is required to take advantage of my Picturetown services.
Registering with my Pic turetown 42 3 Receive the e-mail message confir ming my Picturetown registration. An e-mail message confirming my Pi cturetown registration will be se nt to the registered e -mail address.
Registering with my Pi cturetown 43 Registering a C amera with m y Picturetown A camera must be registered with the my Picturetown server in any of the following situations: • You registered with my Pictur etown before setting up the wireless LAN feat ures of this camera (e.
44 Uploading Pictures to the my Picturetown Server Sending Picture Mail Select pictures, specify recipi ents, and s end Pic ture Ma il. When a wireless LAN access point is unava ilabl e, Picture Mail can be queued and sent at a later time. 1 Press the F button in shooting or playback mode.

Uploading Pictures to the my Picturetown Server 50 B Connecting via a Wireless LAN Be sure that you are in a locatio n where connection of the cam era to a wireless LAN is possible before attempting to upload pictures.
51 Viewing Pictures on the my Picturetown Server Use a computer’s Web browser to access http://mypicturetown.com/ , and enter the Email ID (e-mail address) and password registered with my Picturetown to display t he My Photos page. From this page, you can upload and sort pi ctures, create and share albums, and cre ate slide shows.
52 Appendix Error Messages Display Problem Solution A N Memory card is write protected. Write-protect switch is in “lock” position . Slide write-protect switch to “write” positio n. 21 of the User’s Manual q N Battery exhausted. Transfer terminated.
