11 Basic Operations Introduction The Rotary Multi Selector The rotary multi selector is made up of the rotating ring and the d button. When selecting menus or pictures, you can either press the rotating ring up, down, left, or right, or rotate it.

14 First Steps First Steps Inserting the Battery The camera uses a Rechargeable Li-io n Battery EN-EL8 (supplied). Charge the battery before first use or when the battery is running low ( c 16) . 1 Open the battery-chamber/memor y card slot cover. 2 Insert the batte ry.
15 Inserting the Battery First Steps Removing the Battery Turn the camera off befo re removing the battery. To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/ memory card slot cover a nd slide the battery latch in the direction shown 1 . The battery can then be removed by hand 2 .
16 First Steps Charging the Battery Insert the battery and charge it with the AC Adapter EH-64 (supplie d) before first use or when the battery is running low. 1 Connect the power ca ble and AC adapter 1 . 2 Turn of f the ca mera. If the power-on l amp (green) is lit, press the power switch to turn of f the camera.

25 Step 2 Frame a Picture Basic Photography and Playback: Auto Mode j Digital Zoom Unlike optical zoom, data from the camera’s imag e se nsor are processed digitally with digit al zoom. Details visible at maximum optical zo om are simply enlarged, produci ng a slightly “grainy” image.
