W arning and Safety instructions 9 The ele ctrical safety of this washing machine can only be guar an‐ teed when corr ectly earthed. It is essential that this standard safety r equirement is met. If in any doubt, please have the wiring system of the building t ested by a qualified electrician.
W arning and Safety instructions 10 The mach ine must be isolated fr om the electricity supply when cleaning and maintaining the machine and in the event of a fault.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Correct use Do not insta ll the washing machine in a room wher e there is a risk of frost. F ro zen hoses may burst or split. The reliability of the elec‐ tronic contr ol unit may be impaired at t emperatur es below freezing point.
W arning and Safety instructions 12 T ake car e when opening the drum door after using the steam function. Danger of burning due to escaping st eam and the high temper ature of the surface of the drum as well as the porthole glass. Stand back away fr om the machine and wait until the steam has dis‐ sipated.
W arning and Safety instructions 13 Colo ur run and dye removers contain sulphur compounds which can cause damage such as corrosion. Do not use these pr oducts in this machine. If deter gent comes into contact with the eyes, rinse them thor‐ oughly with lukewarm water immediat ely .

Before using for the first time 19 Removing the protective foil and stick ers Remove – the prot ective foil from the door . – any stickers from the fr ont and the lid. Please do not r emove any labels (e.g. the data plate), visible when you open the door .
Before using for the first time 20 After installing the washing machine Befor e using the machine for the first time ensure that it is corr ectly in‐ stalled and connected. See "Installa‐ tion and connection". Also check that the dr ain filters are secur ely tightened to pr event the risk of water leaks during use.
Before using for the first time 21 Setting the clock format Clock format 24 h clock 12 h clock Select the clock format you want. The clock format selected will be mark ed with a tick and the display for setting the Time of day will appear .
T winDos 22 The washing machine has an integr ated det ergent dispensing unit. The deter gent dispensing unit can be used with 1. the Miele 2 Phase System or 2.
T winDos 23 Inserting cartridges/containers K eep filled containers or car‐ tridges out of the reach of childr en. Observe the instructions for use and warning instructions given by the de‐ ter gent manufacturer . P ress the T winDos container access panel.
T winDos 24 Push the Ultr aPhase 1 cartridge into Compartment 1 until it locks into po‐ sition. Remove container 2 and push the Ultr aPhase 2 cartridge into Com‐ partment 2 until it locks into position. Keep the containers in a safe place.

T winDos 28 Running the first progr amme The T winDos system needs to be primed b efore you can use the wash‐ ing machine. T o do this you must run a wash pro‐ gramme without laundry . Open the stopcock. Make sure that the washing machine door is cl osed properly .
W ashing environmentally and economically 29 Energy and water consumption – Wat er consumption and energy us‐ age are det ermined by the size of the load. T o make the most of your machine, load the maximum dry load for the progr amme you are using.
W ashing environmentally and economically 30 EcoF eedback Y ou can view information about the en‐ er gy and water consumption of your washing machine with the ECO Feed- back sensor . The following information will appear in the display: – an estimate of the ener gy and water con sumption before the pr ogramme begins.
1. Pr epare the laundry 31 Empty all pock ets. F oreign objects (e.g. nails, coins, paper clips, etc.) can cause damage to garments and to components in the machine. Sort the laundry Sort the laundry by colour and by care label. Most garments have a t ex‐ tile care label in the collar or side seam.
2. Select a progr amme 32 Switch on the washing ma‐ chine In order for the load display t o func‐ tion correctly, the drum must be emp‐ ty before the washing machine is switched on. P ress the butt on. The interior drum lighting will come on.
3. Select progr amme settings 33 T emperature Y ou can alter the pr e-set temper ature of a wash pr ogramme. T ouch the Temperature sensor . Set the t emperatur e you want with – and + and confirm with OK . Spin speed Y ou can alter the pr e-set spin speed of a wash pr ogramme.
3. Select progr amme settings 34 Pr ogrammeManager The Pr ogrammeManager option can be used t o customise the washing progr ammes to suit your r equire‐ ments. T ouch the Prog. Manager sensor . Select the option you want. Pr ogrammeManager is switched on.
3. Select progr amme settings 35 CapDosing Y ou can use CapDosing with this wash pr ogramme. T ouch the CapDosing sensor . The types of capsules which can be used with the pr ogramme will appear in the display . Select the type of capsule you want.
4. L oad the washing machine 36 Open the door T ake hold of the door and pull it open. The load display will now appear . Load OK < 25 % The display shows the amount of laun‐ dr y loaded in the drum as a % (in 25% steps) of the maximum load permissible for the progr amme selected.
4. L oad the washing machine 37 Close the door Mak e sure that no it ems are caught between the door and the seal. Shut the door with a gentle swing. The display will ask you to enter the de‐ gr ee of soiling of the laundry . Ent er the degree of soiling with the Light or Heavy sensor and confirm with OK .
5. Add detergent 38 There ar e several options for adding de‐ t ergent. T winDos If you selected TwinDos when setting the pr ogramme, det ergent will be dis‐ pensed automatically for this wash pr o‐ gramme. The deter gent dispensed will depend on which agents have been added to the T winDos unit.
5. Add detergent 39 Clo se the lid and press it firmly shut. Clo se the deter gent dispenser draw‐ er . The capsule is opened by the act of in serting it in the deter gent dispenser drawer . The contents can run out of the capsule if you then remove it from the dr awer before it is used.
5. Add detergent 40 Detergent dispenser dr awer Add deter gent in accordance with the value in the dosage display . The percentage shown r elates to the amount of deter gent recommended by the manufacturer on the packaging.
6. Start the progr amme - the end of a programme 41 Starting the progr amme T ouch the flashing Start/St op senso r . The door will lock (the symbol will appear in the display t o show this) and the progr amme will start. The progr amme status will appear in the display .
Degree of soiling 42 If you have selected automatic dispens‐ ing or loaded the washing machine, the display will then pr ompt you to enter the degree of soiling. Degree of soiling OK Normal Heavy Light Y ou can set the degr ee of soiling with the Light or Heavy sensor .
Garment care label symbols 43 Washing The figure quot ed in the bucket is the maximum t emperatur e the garment can be washed at. The number of bars under the symbol indicates the level of agitation permitted.

Spinning 45 T o omit the final spin (Rinse hold) Select the Rinse hold option. The laun‐ dr y is not spun after the final rinse and remains in the final rinse wat er . This helps prevent cr easing if the laundry is not going to be removed from the drum immediat ely after the end of the progr amme.

Pr ogrammeManager 58 The Pr ogrammeManager option can be used t o customise the washing pr o‐ grammes t o suit your requir ements. Intensive F or hard-wearing laundry that is very heavily soiled. Cleaning efficiency is in‐ cr eased through mor e intense mechani‐ cal action and the application of more heat energy .

Options 60 Steam smoothing Steam is inject ed into the drum at the end of the wash pr ocess. Reducing the maximum load by 50% will give a bet‐ ter r esult. F or steam smoothing to work properly ther e needs to be a certain amount of residual moistur e still present in the laundry and so the final spin speed is adjusted accor dingly .

Delay start 62 With delay start you can choose when you want the pr ogramme t o start. Y ou can delay the start of the progr amme from 15 minut es up to a maximum of 24 hours, allowing you to make use of night-time economy electricity rat es, for example.

Cleaning and care 76 Cleaning the siphon tube and the channel Clean the siphon. 1. Remove the siphon from the com‐ par tment and rinse under hot running water . Clean the siphon tube at the same time. 2. Replace the siphon. Clean the fabric conditioner channel with a brush and hot water .
Cleaning and care 77 Cleaning the T winDos system The washing machine has a cleaning pr ogramme for cleaning the T winDos system containers and the hoses in‐ side the washing machine.
Cleaning and care 78 Cleaning the water inlet filter The washing machine has a filter to pr otect the water inlet valve. The acces‐ sible filter in the union at the open end of the inlet hose should be checked ev‐ ery six months or so, or more often if there ar e frequent interruptions t o the water supply .
Pr oblem solving guide 79 Minor faults in the performance of the washing machine, some of which may result fr om incorrect oper ation, can be put right without contacting the Service Depart‐ ment. The following guide may help you to find the r eason for a fault, and to correct it.

Blocked dr ain outlet If the drain outlet is block ed, a large quantity of wat er can remain in the washing machine.

Installation and connection 94 Using the spanner supplied, turn the left-h and tr ansit bar 90°, then pull the tr ansit bar out. T urn the right-hand transit bar 90°, then pull the transit bar out.
Installation and connection 95 T o avoid the risk of injury, the holes for the transit bars must be covered aft er the transit bars have been removed. Plug the holes with the plastic caps as ill ustrat ed. Secure the tr ansit bars to the back of the washing machine.
Installation and connection 96 Levelling the machine The washing machine must stand per‐ fectly level on all four feet to ensur e safe and proper oper ation. Incorrect installation may incr ease elec‐ tricity and wat er consumption and may cause the machine to move about.

This washing machine (with lid intact) can be pushed under a w orktop if ther e is space to do so. Washer -dryer stack The washing machine can be combined with a Miele tumble dr yer in a washer- dryer stack.

Installation and connection 99 The electronic unit and drainage and overflow protection – Drainage pr otection Any leak ing water is collected in the sump in the base of the machine.
Installation and connection 100 Connection to the water sup‐ ply The casing on the water inlet hose contains electrical compo‐ nents. It must not be connected in areas wher e there is the risk of water or other liquids reaching it, e.g. bath‐ rooms.
Installation and connection 101 Maintenance Only use a Miele W aterproof system hose should you need a replacement. Disconnect the machine from the elec‐ tricity supply before unscr ewing the wa‐ terpr oof system inlet hose from the stopcock.
Installation and connection 102 Connection to the dr ainage syst em The machine drains via a dr ain pump with a deliver y head of 1.8 m. The drain hose must not be kinked as this re‐ stricts drainage. The swivel elbow at the end of the hose can be turned in ei‐ ther direction, or can be detached if r e‐ quired, with a sharp twist and pull.
