Guide to the appliance Miele dishwa shers are available in two versions: 1. Integrated ( “i”) dish washers “ i ” dishwashers are specially designe d for building under a co ntinuous work - top. The control panel with its acc essories is included with the “ i ” dishwash er in a separate pack age for o n-site fixi ng.

Before using for the first time Before using for the firs t time please note the following points: See the relevant chapters fo r detailed infor mation o n the poin ts below . Setting the water softener The water so ftener uni t must be set to deal with the wate r hardness level in your area.
Before using for the first time It is important to choose t he correct programme The NORMAL programme and the UNIVERSAL programmes are ideally suited to e ver yday loa ds. See the pro- gramme char t for descriptions of other programmes. When the dishwasher is run f or the first time th e programme selected will not star t for approx.
Opening and closing the doo r T o open the door Pre ss the release catch inside the door grip. If the door is opened during o peration all functions are automat ically inter- rupted.
W ater softe ner T o a void the build-up of calcium de- posits on crockery and cutler y , and in the dish washer the wate r needs to b e softene d. T o ensure a stead y supply of soft water the built-in wate r softener must be: 1. correctly set and 2.
W ater softe ner T o set the water softener W ater hard ness level of 20 -630 mg/l (1 - 35 ° d German scale): Switch the dishwasher of f. Use a screwdriver to remove the lid of the water ha rdness level select or in the wash cabine t. Check that the selector is set to set - ting 6 (factory setting ).
W ater softe ner W ater hardness level of 650-1260 mg/l (36 - 70 ° d German sc ale): Switch the dishwasher of f. T ur n the programme select or switch to the “ STOP ” positio n. Pre ss the “ Delay start ” and “ ST A RT ” buttons at the sa me time and at th e same time swit ch the dishwashe r on by pressing the “ On/Off ” -button.
W ater softe ner Filling the salt reservoir Please only use s pecial coars e grained dishwasher salt fo r reactivation, as other sa lts may contain in soluble addi- tives which can impair the fun ctioning of the sof tener . The salt reserv oir holds approx.
W ater softe ner Salt indicator When the s alt reservoir is empty the “ Salt ” indicator light comes on. The reservoir should be refilled with dis h- washer salt for reactivation.
Adding rinse aid Rinse aid is necessa ry to ensure tha t water does not cling and leave marks on crockery during the dryin g phase. Rinse aid is poured into the stora ge reservoir and the amount s et is dis - pensed auto maticall y . The rinse aid reservoir holds approx.
Add rinse aid only until it is v isible on the sur face of the filter in th e open- ing. Close the flap fir mly . The flap must au dibly engage, other - wise water could get into the rinse aid storage contain er during the pro- gramme. Mop up any split rinse aid.
Loading the dishwas her Note Load the crockery so th at wate r will come into conta ct with all sur fac es. This ensures that th ey will be properly cleaned. Do not place crocker y an d cutler y in- side other pieces w here they may be concealed. Hollow i tems e.
Loading the dishwas her Loading examples Upper basket Small, lightweigh t, delicate items s uch as cups, sau cers, glasses, d essert bowls, etc. Note fo r “ T op Sol o ” If a wash programme has been se- lected with the additional func tion “ To p Solo ” , all crocker y must be loaded into the upper basket an d cutler y tray .
Loading the dishwas her For best results cutler y should be grouped in zones, one for knive s, one for forks , one for s poons etc. Th is makes unloading mu ch easier . Larger items lik e sauce ladles, cak e slices, l ong knives and mixing spoons can be placed lengthwis e in the trouch in the centre of the tr ay .
Loading the dishwas her Flap up racks Can either be used f or a second row of cups or ra ised upwards to ma ke room for tall items . Positioning rail (standard feature depending on model) For easy sor ting and removing of croc- ker y the positi oning rail can be rested to one side.
Loading the dishwas her Adjusting the upper basket (depending on model) In order to gain more space for taller pieces of crockery in the bottom o r upper basket, the upper basket can be adjusted in three steps w ith 2 cm be- tween each ste p. Pull out the upper baske t and loosen the two locknuts on either side of the basket.
Items not suitable fo r dishwashe rs – cutler y with wooden o r hor n handles , – wooden or plastic ch opping boards, – glued items, e.g. old k nives with handles which have been glued on, – hand-made craf t items, – copper or tin items , – plastic items which a re not heat resis- tant.
Adding detergen t Only use detergent s for mulated fo r domestic dishwashers. Do not use washing up liquid. Please note Dishwasher det ergents cont ain irri- tant or corrosive ingredients. Th ey can cause bu rnin g in th e mouth and thr oat if swallowed , or inhibit br eathing.
Preventive me asures: 1. If you w ish to cont inue using the new chlorine and phosphat e-free pr o- ducts, the foll owing is recom mended: – T r y out a n environmentally friendly detergent of the same type from an- other manu facturer .
Dishwasher d etergent must be added before each pr ogramme (except PRE- W ASH). – Pour powder or liquid deter gent into the dispenser . – Dishwasher deterge nt tablets can be put at vari ous places in the wash cabinet, (follow the manufacturer ’ s advice on th e packet) .
For infor matio n: Compar tment I takes max. 25 ml, Com- part ment II max. 80 ml. There are hori- zontal ma rkers to a ssist with dispensing in compar tment II , indicat- ing the level in ml. Press the opening catch on the con- tainer fl ap. The flap will spring open.
Choosing a programme Choose your programme according to the type o f load and how dir ty it is. In most cases thi s will be the NORMAL programme or one of the UNIVERSA L programmes. NORMAL 55 ° UNIVERSAL 55 ° or 65 ° These programmes are ideally suited to ever yday lo ads, mixe d loads with va- rying degrees of soiling.

Switching on and off Switching on Close the door . Open the sto pcock (if it is clo sed). Pre ss the “ On/Off ” -switch (1 4). When the programme a nd temperat ure selector s witch (21 ) is in the “ STOP ” po- sition a dot lights u p in the display field (17).
Switching on and off Note: The “ Reactiva tion ” process is car- ried out befor e a wash pr ogramme. It lasts several minutes. During th is pr ocess only the “ Reacti- vating ” indicat or light is on. The hardness level of the inlet wat er dictates how often (after how many pro- grammes) water needs to be softened .
Switching on and off Removin g load Programme interruption A wash programme is interrupted as soon as t he door is opened. If the door is clos ed again the pro- gramme will continue f rom the position it was at when it w as interrupt ed. Wa r n i n g ! W ater in the dishwash er may be hot.
Additional o ptions Delay start (18) The star ting time of a programme can be delayed up to 9 hours and 30 minutes (in 30 minut e steps), e. g. to benefit from economy rate s of elec- tricity . Select a programme. The duratio n of the selected pro- gramme shows i n the ti me display (17) in min utes and second s.
Additional o ptions T op Solo (18) With this funct ion the majority of the water is directed only to the top an d middle spray a rms in the dishwasher . This means th at the wat er jets are aimed only at item s in the upper basket and cutler y tray (w here fitted).
Cleaning and care Cleaning the filters in the wash cabinet The dishwash er must not be used without all the filt ers in place! The filter combination in the ba se of t he wash ca binet should be regularly in- spected and clean ed if necessa ry . T urn the handle anti-cl ockwise to r e- lease the f ilters.
Cleaning and care T ur n the filt er combinatio n over and open the c oarse filte r by pullin g back on the locking dev ice. Clean the coars e filter under run ning water , using a brush if neces sar y , and press the locking device back in. Impor tant: After cleanin g make sur e that the lock- ing device is properly locked.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the spray ar ms Partic les of f ood can lo dge in th e spray arm je ts. The spray ar ms should be ins pected and cleaned regularly (approx. every 6 months). T o do this remove the spray ar ms as fol- lows. Lift up th e middle spray ar m b to en- gage the tooth-w heel mechanism.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve If water has not be en pumped aw ay at the end of a programme the drain pump or the non-retur n valve might be blocked. They are, howev er , easy t o clean. Wa tch out for glass spl inters, which co uld cause in jury .
Cleaning and care Cleaning the filter in the water inlet A filter is incorpora ted in the screw con- nection of th e valve on th e water inlet hose. The filt er must be cleane d when dirty , oth erwise insufficient water f lows into the wash cabinet. The plastic h ousing of t he wate r connection co ntains an electr ical component.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the wash cabinet In general the w ash cabinet is self- cleaning, provided that the correct amount o f dishwasher det ergent is used. If however t her are time scale or grease deposits these can be removed with a proprietary dishw asher cleane r .

The wash cycle is cancell ed before the end and the “ W ater outle t ” check light flashes – The drain hose is kinked. – The drain pump is blocke d – see “ Cleaning and care ” . – Foreign bodies are obstructing the non-return v alve - see "C leaning and care".
The “ Spray arm ” chec k light flashes – The middle spray a rm is obs tructed by crockery . Open the dishwas her door and remove the obstructio n. – The spray a re jets are blocked - see "Cleaning and care". Befor e re moving th e obstruc tion: T urn the prog ramme selector to STOP .

Special a ccessories Bottle holder (depending on model) The bottle holder (e. g. for milk or baby bottles) can be fitte d at various places in the b ottom basket. T o ac hieve good cleaning results the bottle holder should only be place d in the positions marked white – and on no account in the positions marked with an X .

Installa tion integrated “ i ” Dishwashers The “ i ” model di shwashers are spe- cially designed for building un der a continuous work top. The front can be fitte d with a base unit front to match the kit chen fur niture. By using a decor set GDU “ i ” model dishwashers can be converted into a built-under “ U ” model.
1. Fit worktop protection A stainless steel “ niro ” coverplate is supplied with th e machine to protect the underside of th e worktop agai nst steam rising from the machine. The coverplate is supplied as standa rd with "i" models. Squeeze sealant f rom the tube sup- plied b into the an gle of the “ niro ” plate.
2. Building the dishwasher into a niche Connection to water and drainage should be sited beside and n ot behind the dishwash er for accessibilit y . Con- nections are us ually made in the area under the sink. Ma ny kitc hen unit manu- facturers provide a cutout in the base of the sink base unit for th e hoses to be fed through.
The slides mak e installatio n of the dish- washer easie r and protect the floor from p ossible damage when mo ving the appliance int o and out of the re- cess. They a re also used for adjustin g the height of the rear screw feet. Adjust the he ight manually bef ore in- stallin g the dishwa sher .
Adjust th e re ar scre w feet to the re- quired height. Higher = turn cloc kwise Lower = turn anti-clo ckwise Several tur ns are needed to adjust 1 mm in height. A batter y-pow ered screw- driver could be used. Adjust the fr ont s crew feet ma nually or with a flat blade scr ewdriver .
Installa tion integrated “ i ” Dishwashers 3. Fitting the facia panel The facia panel is delivered separately in the colour ordered with the necess- ary ac cesso ries. It has to be fitt ed to the dish washer when it is being inst alled. Place the seal s upplied b in the groove round the ventilation grille c .
4. Matching the facia p anel to the dimensions of the adjacent drawer fronts The facia panel ca n be aligned with the drawer fronts of the kit chen units by ad- justing the space r bars. Using an 8 mm socket s panner tur n clockwise or an ti-clock wise until the requir ed heigh t is reached.
5. Fitting the (matching) door front The door of a kitc hen base unit (witho ut the drawer fa cia or fittings) is norma lly used for th e door fr ont. The door front is fixed to th e machine door outer panel using a f ixing bracket which has to be pre-mounted on the re ar of the doo r fron t.
Installing integr ated "i" Dishw ashers Lay the doo r front with the rear side facing upwar ds. Using a pencil draw a v ert ical line down the m iddle of the d oor to use as a guide line.
Installa tion integrated “ i ” Dishwashers Pull the dishwash er out of its recess enough to allow easy access to the side fixi ng screws fo r the door fro nt. Hang the door front into th e slits in the machine door ou ter panel, adjus t for height and se cure.
6. Adjusting the door spri ngs The door s prings are correctly adjust ed when a half opened door (approx. 45 ° opening angle) remains in that positio n when r eleased. If the door drops down, the n the door springs need to be tight ened. If, howeve r , it ris es up, then t he springs need to be released.
If one of the s crew positions is in th e cut-out area, e.g. of the built-in sink , at- tach the f ixing bracket supplied. Pull the dishwasher appr ox. 5-10 c m out of the recess. Position the fixing b racket. Push the d ishwasher back into the r e- cess, adju st and screw in to position with a (3.
8. Matching the plinth facia of a kitchen run The plinth area of the dishwashe r is nor- mally covered with a plinth run match- ing the kitchen fur niture. The height ( H ) of the plinth facia around the dishwash er depends on the plint h ret u r n ( R ) and how m uch the door front extends bel ow the dishwasher doo r ( P ).
Electrical conne ction Please follo w the inst allation inst ruc- tions carefully . This di shwasher is suppl ied read y for connect ion to an a.c. single phase supply , (23 0 - 240 V 50 Hz fo r the UK an d Australia ). It is supplied with a mains cable and mou lded plug.
Non rewireable plugs BS 1363 If this machine o r appliance is fit ted with a non-rewireable plug, the follow- ing infor mation applies: If the socke t outlets a re not suitable for the plug s upplied with th is product, it must be cut o ff and an appropriate plug fitted.
Plumbing Connection to the water inlet W ater in the dishwash er must not be used as drinking water . The dishwasher may be connected to a cold or hot water supply , max.
There must be a dis tance of at least 20 cm betwe en the floo r and the bo ttom of the “ W ate rproof ” unit housing, for eith er ver tical or hori- zontal inst allation. If the sto pcock is situat ed in the worktop, a special a ngle connect or can be ordered from the Miele Spare Parts Dept.
Drainage The machine drai nage system is fitted with a non -return v alve, whic h prevents dirt y water from flowing back into the machin e via the drain hose. The dishwashe r is supplied with ap- prox. 1.5 m of fl exible drain h ose with an inter nal diameter of 22 mm.
