Dishwasher deter‐ gents contain irritant or corrosive ingr edients which can cause burn‐ ing in the nose, mouth and throat if swallowed, or inhibit br eathing.
W arning and Safety instructions 17 In an app liance with a cutlery basket (depending on model), cut‐ lery is cleaned and dried more efficiently if placed in the basket with the handles downwards. However , to avoid the risk of injury, place knives and forks etc.
Caring for the envir onment 18 Disposal of the packing mate‐ rial The packaging is designed to pr otect the applianc e from damage during transportation. The packaging mat erials used are select ed from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.

Caring for the envir onment 20 EcoF eedback consumption in‐ dicat or The Consumption function is used for c alling up information about the energy and water consumption of your dish‐ washer (see "Settings menu, Consump‐ tion").
Before using for the first time 21 Opening the door At the end of progr amm es with a drying ph ase (see "Pr ogramme chart"), the door will open automatically a little in order t o help the drying process. This function can be deactivated, if pre‐ ferred (see "Settings menu, AutoOpen").
Before using for the first time 22 Basic settings Switch the dishwasher on with the butt on. The welcome screen will appear when the dishwasher is switched on for the first time. Language The display will then change automati‐ call y to the scr een for setting the lan‐ guage.
Before using for the first time 23 Wat er hardness The display will change to the scr een f or setting the water har dness. – The dishwasher must be progr am‐ med t o the correct wat er hardness for your area. – Y our local water authority will be able t o advise you of the water har dness level in your area.
Before using for the first time 24 Before using the appliance for the first tim e, you require: – appro x. 1 kg dishwasher salt, – domestic dishwasher deter gent, – rinse aid formulated for domestic dishwashers. Every dishwasher is test ed at the fac‐ t ory .
Before using for the first time 25 Adding salt W hen filling the salt reservoir only open the door halfway to ensur e that all the salt gets into the r eservoir. P ress the butt on on the top of the salt reservoir in the dir ection of the arrow .
Before using for the first time 26 Add salt reminder F ill the salt reservoir with dishwasher salt for reactivation when Add salt appears. (If it appears during a pro‐ gramme, wait until the end of the pr o‐ gramme). Confirm with OK . The refill r eminder will go out.
Before using for the first time 27 Rinse aid Rinse aid is necessary to ensure wat er does not cling and leave marks on cr ockery during the drying phase and helps crockery dry faster aft er it has been washed. Rinse aid is poured int o the storage r es‐ ervoir and the amount set is dispensed automatically .
Before using for the first time 28 Add rinse aid only until it is visible in the opening. The rinse aid reservoir holds appr ox. 110 ml. Close the flap firmly so that it clicks int o place. Otherwise water can enter the rinse aid reservoir during a pr o‐ gramme.
L oading the dishwasher 29 Notes Remove coarse food residues fr om cr ockery . There is no need t o rinse items under runn ing water . Do not wash it ems soiled with ash, sand, wax, lubricating grease or paint in the dishwasher . Ash does not dissolve and is distributed in the wash cabinet.
L oading the dishwasher 30 Items not suitable for dishwashers: – Wooden cutlery and cr ockery or it ems with wooden parts: these may discolour and fade. The glue used in these items is not dishwasher -proof and wooden handles may come loose after being washed in a dish‐ washer .

F or safety reasons, do not oper‐ ate the dishwasher without the upper and lower baskets in place (ex cept when running the Tall items pro‐ gramme, if available).
L oading the dishwasher 32 Adjusting the upper basket In order t o gain more space for taller pieces o f crockery in the lower or upper basket, the upper basket can be adjus‐ ted on thr ee levels with 2 cm between each level. The upper basket can also be set at an angle with one side high and the other side low .

F or larger and heavier it ems such as plates, serving platters, saucepans, bowls, etc. Glasses, cups and small items such as saucers can also be placed in the lower basket.
L oading the dishwasher 34 Hinged spikes (depending on model) The spikes at the front ar e used for washin g plates, soup bowls, platt ers, desert bowls, and saucers. Both rows of spikes can be lower ed to mak e more r oom for large items, e.g. pots, pans and dishes.

L oading the dishwasher 36 Cutlery basket (depending on model) The cutlery basket can be placed any‐ wher e on the front r ows of spikes in the lower basket. T o avoid the risk of injury, knives and forks should be placed with the han‐ dles upwards in the basket.

Operation 41 Detergent O nly use deter gents formulated for domestic dishwashers. Do not use washing-up liquid. Active ingredients Modern deter gents contain various ac‐ tive ing redients, the most important of which are: – Complexing agents t o prevent calcifi‐ cation.
Operation 42 Detergent dosage F ollow the dosage recommended by the manufacturer on the packaging. Un less direct ed otherwise, use one deter gent tab or add 20 to 30 ml de‐ ter gent to compartment II, depending on the level of soiling. With very heavy soiling you can also add a small amount of deter gent to com‐ partment l.
Operation 43 Adding detergent P ress the opening catch on the de‐ ter gent dispenser . The flap will spring open. The flap is always open at the end of a pr ogramme.
Operation 44 Switching on Ma ke sure the spr ay arms can rotat e freely . Cl ose the door . Open the stopcock, if it is closed. P ress the butt on for at least 2 sec‐ onds. The progr amme selected will appear b riefly in the display and the appropri‐ ate indicator light will come on.
Operation 45 Starting the progr amme P ress the S tart or OK buttons. The progr amme will begin. The Start indicator light will come on. A progr amme should only be cancel‐ led in the first few minutes, if at all. Otherwise important progr amme stages could be omitted.
Operation 46 Energy management T o save energy, the dishwasher will switch off aut omatically 10 minutes af‐ ter the last time a button is pr essed or 10 minutes after the end of the pr o‐ gramme. P ress the butt on to switch the dishwasher back on.
Operation 47 Switching off At the end of a progr am me: The dishwasher can be switched off at any time using the b utton. Switching the dishwasher off during a pr ogramme st ops the progr amme. Switching the dishwasher off during the run- up to a delay start time (Fle xiT imer) will also stop the pr ocess.
Operation 48 Interrupting a progr amme A progr amme is interrupted as soon as the door is opened. I f the door is closed again, the pro‐ gramme will continue fr om the point it was at before the door was opened. W ater in the dishwasher may be hot.
Pr ogramme options 49 Options Y ou can select and deselect the options us ing the appropriat e buttons and the display . Switch the dishwasher on with the butt on. The S tart indicator light will flash. Selec t a progr amme. P ress the butt on for the option you want.
Pr ogramme options 50 FlexiTimer with EcoStart The FlexiTimer gives you thr ee ways of starting the progr amme by means of delaying the start. Y ou can set the start time or the finish time of a progr amme. Y ou also have the option of taking ad‐ vantage of time variable economy rat es of electricity using the EcoStart function.
Pr ogramme options 51 Start at With the Start at function, you set the exact time you want the pr ogramme t o start at. Use the arrow butt ons to set the hour and confirm with OK . The hours will be saved and the minute number b lock will be highlighted.
Pr ogramme options 52 EcoStart The EcoStart func tion allows you to take advantage of time variable economy rat es of electricity . Before you can use this option you must set up to thr ee electricity tariff time zones (see "Set‐ tings menu, EcoStart").
Pr ogramme options 53 DetergentAgent F or optimum cleaning results, the dish‐ washer aut omatically adjusts the pro‐ gramme sequence t o the type of deter‐ gent being used. Depending on the progr amme, this can mean that the run‐ ning time and energy consumption vary slightly .

Cleaning and care 59 Check your dishwasher regularly (ap‐ pro x. every 4 - 6 months). This way faults and problems can be avoided. The e xternal surfaces of the dishwasher are susceptible t o scratching. Contact with unsuitable cleaning a gents can alter or discolour the e x‐ ternal surfaces.
Cleaning and care 60 Cleaning the door front Soiling that is left too long might become impossible to r emove and could cause the ext ernal surfaces to alter or discolour . Remove any soiling immediately . Cle an the front with a clean sponge and a solution of hot water and washing-up liquid.
Cleaning and care 61 Checking the filters in the wash cabinet The filter combination in the base of the wash cabinet r etains coarse soil from the suds solution, preventing it access‐ ing the circulation syst em and re-enter‐ ing the cabinet through the spr ay arms.
Cleaning and care 62 T o clean the inside of the filter , the flap must be opened: P ress catches t ogether in the di‐ rection of the arr ows as shown, and open the filter . Rin se all the filters under running wa‐ ter . Then close the flap so that the catch engages.

Maintenance 73 Cleaning the water inlet filter A filter is incorpor ated in the screw con‐ n ection of the valve on the water inlet hose. The filter must be cleaned when dirty, otherwise insufficient water flows into the wash cabinet. T he plastic housing of the water connection contains an electrical component.
Maintenance 74 Cleaning the drain pump and non -return valve If the water has not been pumped away at the end of a p rogr amme the drain pump or the non-return valve might be blocked. They are, however , easy to clean. Disc onnect the dishwasher from the mains supply .
