5 1. Getting Starte d Congratulations on choosing the Ar gox Xellent Serie s (X -Series) industrial barcode prin ter. This user’s manual describing the Xellent Series prin ter models, wi ll help you get to know your new printer.

13 Loading Ribbon Note: Thermal Transfer printing requires medi a to print with appropriate ribbon. Th is sectio n can be re ferred to, for X-Series to use transfer the rmal printing. The sa mple steps below are based on ribbon w ound ink-side in as an example .

17 Switching Ribbon Wound Ink-side in or Ink -side out The printer i s produced to suit flexible appl ications, no matter wi th ribbon wound ink-side in (manufactu ring defaul t), or with ribbon wound ink-side ou t. The steps to sw itch for ribbon wound ink-side out are listed as follow s: 1 .
18 2. After the adjustmen t abov e, ribbon wound ink-side out can be used. Then instal l the ribbon : 3. If ribbon wou nd ink-side in is in use, p ull and m ove the SHAFT RIBBON ADJ to “Inside” .
19 Loading Media The X-Series printe rs offer three di fferent loading modes : standard, peel-of f, or with a cu tter. S tandard mode allow s you to collect ea ch label free ly. P eel -off mode peel s backing material aw ay from the l abel as it prints.
20 Standard Mode Lo a d i n g M e d ia 1. Insert the media roll into the medi a supply spindle and move the media guide to the inside. (Figure 1) 1 Media Guide Media Supply Spindle.

51 Resetting to Factor y Defaul t Settings To reset the pri nter to fa ctory default se ttings: 1. Turn off the printe r. 2. Press and hold the CANC EL button and turn on the printer. 3. When “RESE T …” is displ ayed on the LCD and the REA DY indicator blinks , release the CAN CEL button.

Computer Conne ctions This printer co mes wi th USB interface, a standard Centroni cs parallel inter face, and a nine -pin Electronics Indu stries Association (EIA) RS -232 serial da ta interface. 73 Printer Mainte nance Vertical strea ks in the printout usually ind icate a dirty or faul ty print head. (Refer to the following examples.) Clea n the print head . If the problem persists , replace the print head. For unstable ribbon roll rotation, chec k the label p ath and make sure the head latch is securely closed.
74 Cleaning the Print Head To keep the Pri nt Head remain in the best condi tions and efficiency and to extend dura tion for use , regular clea ning action is needed . Note: Turn off the printe r before cleaning. Clean the print head as foll ows: 1. Turn off the printe r.
75 It’s strongly recommended to wear hand glov es during cl ea ning progress. Do not touch print head surface by bare hands or with any hard equipment.
76 5. Advanced Installation and Adjustment This chapter desc ribes inst allation and adjustment procedu re for X series industrial printers. It’ s recommended to be carried ou t by technicians, in order to keep overal l printing perfo rmance.

Left Hand Side Enh ancement If the phenomena as show n in Fig. 3 been ob served, please tur n the Fine Adjus tment Knob counte r-clockwise slightl y then try printing again to justi fy th e prin ting quality i mprovement as shown in Fig.4. Repeat the sa me process until the prin ting quality is well balanced on bo th ends of the label .

82 Ribbon Tension Adjustment Both ribbon suppl y spindle and ribbon pickup spin dle are equipped with control knobs to adj ust ribbon tension . The c ontrol knobs can rotate to b oth directions . Rotate the control knob c lockwise to increase r ibbon tension; rotate it counter-clockwise to reduce ribbon tension.

84 Printing Wrinkl e During printin g, ribbon may wrinkle and cause ab normal printing quality . The following describe s how to solv e ribbon wri nkle accordingly .

95 Dispenser Installati on Install a dispenser into the printer as follows: 1. Turn off the printe r. 2. Remove the top cov er on both left and ri ght sides.
96 4. Con nect the Peeler sens or to main board JP15 socket o f X-1000VL, X-2000V , X-2000V Zip / JP12 socket o f X-3200, X-3200Z, X-320 0E, X-3200ZE , X-2300E, and X- 2300ZE . Secure the di spenser board on to printer case . 5. Insert the le ft side o f dispense r bracket and secur e the th ree screws to the TPH module.
