5 PRECAUTIONS NOTES ON HANDLING: • When shipping the DVD player , always use the original shipping carton and packing materials. For maximum protection, repack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory . • Do not use volatile liquids, such as insect spray , near the DVD player .
6 PRECAUTIONS (CONTINUED) TO OBT AIN A CLEAR PICTURE: The DVD player is a high technology , precision device. If the optical pick-up lens and disc drive parts are dirty or worn down, the picture quality becomes poor .
AC CONNECTION Insert the small end of the AC adapter into the DC IN jack (located on the side of the unit) and connect the other end to a wall outlet having 120V AC, 60 Hz. AC Adapter , DC 9V Z NOTES: • Use the enclosed AC adapter for this product only .
CHARGING THE BA TTERY P ACK “Low Battery” will appear on the screen when the battery is low and needs recharging. The battery can be charged while attached to the unit as follows: With the Battery Pack attached, insert the small end of the AC adapter into the DC IN jack on the side of the unit.

The Setup Menu lets you customize the DVD player by allowing you to select various language preferences, set video/audio settings, adjust what type of television screen you have and more. Use the following instructions to navigate and change the options as described on the upcoming pages.
19 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) Select the desired language (ENGLISH, FRENCH, SP ANISH) for the On-Screen display to display text. Note that the DVD must have the language included in order to display it. 1 Select the language the Subtitle (OSD) will be in (ENGLISH, FRENCH, SP ANISH, AUTO, OFF).
20 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) 4:3/PS: Pan Scan. Select when the unit is connected to a conventional TV . Video material formatted in the Pan Scan style is played back in that style (the left and right edges are cut off). 4:3/LB: Letter Box. Select when the unit is connected to a normal TV .
21 SETUP MENU (CONTINUED) Press the ENTER button to reset the functions of the player to the original factory settings. 1 RESET SETUP MENU: Press the SETUP button to enter the menu, select RESET using the Navigation ( √ , ® ) buttons, then press the ENTER button to select it.
22 BASIC OPERA TION IMPORT ANT : When “ ” appears while pressing a button, this means that the corresponding function cannot be performed either on the disc inserted, or in the selected mode. Press the MUTE button once to mute the sound; the Mute indicator will appear on the screen.
23 BASIC OPERA TION (CONTINUED) While playing a DVD, press the OSD button to cycle as follows: 1st p ress: T itle elapsed and remaining time 2nd press: T itle elapsed and remaining time and the various DVD settings. 3rd press: Display off 1 2 1 While playing a CD, press the OSD button to turn the display on or off.
24 DVD OPERA TION Press the POWER button on the main unit to turn on the unit. 2 1 1 Press the OPEN button to open the disc tray , “OPEN” will appear on the screen. Insert a disc with the label side facing up on the disc tray . 2 1 2 PLA YBACK OF A DVD IMPORT ANT NOTES: • After plugging in, the unit will be in the Power Off mode.
25 DVD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Close the disc tray . Aft er lo adi ng , t he menu screen of the DVD should appear . Use the Navigation ( √ , ® , π , † ) buttons 1 to select the desired option and press the ENTER button 2 to select it. Adjust the volume as described on page 23.
26 DVD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the Skip ( n ) button 1 to advance the DVD to the beginning of the next chapter . Press the Skip ( o ) button 2 to move the DVD to the beginning of the current or previous chapters.
27 DVD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the SEARCH button 1 on ce . Press the Navigation ( √ , ® ) buttons 2 to select “-- :--:--” after TIME, then use the Number buttons 3 to select the desired time (Hour/Minutes/Seconds). Press the EN TER button 4 and playback will start.
28 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) During playback, press the SEARCH button 1 twice; the bookmark menu will appear on the screen. Use the Nav igat ion ( π , † ) buttons 2 to select a blank bookmark box, then when the desired scene appears, press the ENTER button 3 to bookmark it.
29 DVD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) While in the Playback mode, press the REPEA T button once; “REPEA T OFF” will appear on the screen. Press the REPEA T button a second time; “REPEA T CHAPTER” will appear on the screen and the currently playing Chapter will repeat continuously .
30 DVD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the AUDIO button repeatedly to change the audio language. This feature is not available on all discs. 1 Press the SUBTITLE button repeatedly to select a subtitle language, and to turn the subtitle menu on/off. This feature is not available on all discs.
31 DVD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the ZOOM button 1 once during Normal, Slow or Still playback modes, and the unit will zoom in one level. Repeatedly press to select zoom-in levels 2-4. Press yet again to resume normal view . Use the Navigation ( √ , ® , π , † ) buttons 2 to move the image on the TV screen.
32 DVD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) While in the Stop mode, press the PROG. button; the Program menu will appear on the TV screen. 1 Select the first title to be played back using the Number buttons 1 to input two digits. After inputting the title, press the Navigation ( ® ) button 2 to advance the cursor to the chapter .

34 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the Skip ( n ) button 1 to advance to the beginning of the next file. Press the Skip ( o ) button 2 to move to the beginning of the previous file.
35 OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Press the SEARCH button 1 twice. Press the Navigation ( √ , ® ) buttons 2 to select “--:--:--” after TIME, then use the Number buttons 3 to select the desired time (Hour/Minutes/Seconds) within the disc. Press the ENTER button 4 and playback will start.
36 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) During playback, press the Number buttons corresponding to the track number to select your desired track, and the unit will playback the desired track automatically . NOTE: T o enter a track number larger than 9, press the 10+ button, followed by the Number button (0- 9).
37 CD OPERA TION (CONTINUED) While in the Stop mode, press the PROG. button; the Program menu will appear on the TV screen. 1 Select the first track to be played back using the Number buttons to input two digits. NOTE: If you incorrectly enter a track, press the CLEAR button to clear it.
38 PICTURE CD OPERA TION Press the POWER button to turn on the unit; the Power indicator will light. 2 1 1 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray , “OPEN” will appear on the screen. Insert a disc with the label side facing up on the disc tray .
Check the following before requesting service: 39 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE SYMPTOM GENERAL No power . Power on, but unit not functioning properly . No picture. No sound. Playback picture rolls. The playback picture is poor . The Search feature is not working.
40 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE (CONTINUED) SYMPTOM D VD The unit does not start playback. Some functions do not operate as s tated. Selected language is not being shown in the subtitles, or spoken. Subtitles are not working properly . Angle cannot be changed.
Caring for Discs • Treat the disc carefully . Handle the disc only by its edges. Never allow your fingers to come in contact with the shiny , unprinted side of the disc. • Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the disc label. • Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free, dry cloth.
