4 1. PRODUCT FEA TURES 1.1 Product Introduction The WIRELESS N VR-2028 is a s torage m edia of dig ital video im age, wh ich use s hard disk drives instead of NAS de vices to s tore vid eo. This wire less stor age media provid es the u ser with t he power of rem ote control of the I nternet.

8 A -rec Indicat or: This indicator of the alarm recording m ode lights up to indicate the alarm rec ord setting is on. DISK Indicator: The indic ator sho ws the op eration s tatus of the un it’s hard-dis k dr ives. The gr een light i ndicates the hard-disk drive is stor ing or retrievin g data.

INST A LLA TION 3.1 Basic Connection Please follow the instr uctions below to connect your WIRELESS NVR-2028 to a LANCAM or a com puter and to choose a m ode f or connections. 3.1.1 Use a RS-232 cable to inst all a w ireless setting in a LA NCA M Use a RS-232 cable to c onnect a wireless LANCAM.
12 xi. P ush the Setup button to save the setup data. xii. W hen the words "W AITING" f lash on and of f at the bottom of the screen, if th e sc reen goes bla nk, you can pres s the "P ower" b utton to close the device and pr ess it again to resum e its operation.
13 3.2 Hard-Disk Driv e Installat ion The WIRELESS NVR-2 028 is equ ipped with t wo com partments of hard disk drive. T he unit us uall y comes with one h ard-dis k driv e installe d in th e com partment HD1, which is default- confi gured as a master .
14 3.3 Sy stem Information Y ou can displa y system settings inform ation as s hown on T able 3.3 A below at any time by press ing the Display button . In the playbac k m ode, the recor ded video inform ation is d ispla yed. In the live or recording m ode, th e Manual Rec ordin g inform ation is displa yed.
15 3.4 Up dating Syst em Sof tware If the s ystem software of the N VR needs to be u pgraded , please t ak e the follo wing ste ps to saf ely update it. Important : Before carrying out the follow ing p rocedures, please ensure t he SD card is w orking and the f ile of system software is intact 1.

BA SIC OPERA TIONS This section shows you how to operate and manage the NVR when it gets in the way . 4.1 Configuring Recording Settings Recording Time settings (Image R esolution and Image Qualit y Setting) Recordi ng time will var y de pendin g on the im age size, qual ity , and the capacit y of the har d-disk drives.
17 4.2 Recording Operations This section details the way to record video into hard-disk drives. Bef ore com m encing with the recor ding function, pleas e configur e the recording setting pr operly according to y our needs.
18 NOTE: Y ou can pro ceed to start the s cheduled recordin g from t he cur rent ti me if it is in the scheduled interlude as soon as setting is completed, and come out from menu to st art recording.

23 4.2.5 External ly triggered Recording By connec ting the RECORD IN of ALARM I/O on the rear panel of the NVR, y ou can activate/deactivate the rec ording func tion of a NVR. Please ref er to section 2.3 f or m ore details. NOTE: The status of reco rding operat ions wh en an alarm takes place are show n in the diagrams below .
24 4.3 Play back Operations This section sho ws you ho w to operate the fas t, slow , and sing le-pictur e pla yback f unctions, and d etails how the unit is to playbac k a file in a d ifferent operati on status. Pleas e refer to the follo wing paragrap hs specif ying the r eleva nt de tails.
25 4.3.2 Slow Forw ard/ Reverse There ar e 5 speeds available f or a slow play back : 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32. W hile play ing back recor ded video at the recorded s peed: (1) Press th e P AUSE button for the s low play bac k m ode.
26 4.4 Search Operations This section shows you how to access rec orded video. 4.4.1 Full List Search T ak e the following steps to proceed with the full-lis t search f unction. (1) Press th e Search button to enter the s earch m ode. (2) Sel ect the FULL LIST and press the Ent er button to acc ess the com plete list of recorded video.
27 4.4.3 TIME Search T ak e the following steps to proceed with the tim e-list sear ch function. (1) Press th e Search button to enter the s earch m ode. (2) Sele ct the TIM E SEA RCH and pres s the Enter button to access the tim e-s etting page. (3) Set the tim e period you w ish to sear ch for the recorded video.
28 (5) Ther e are 5 l evels of rec ording ra nge m odes to choos e from : 1 Hour , 10 M inutes, 1 Minute, 10 Seconds and 1 Second. Select the specific field of your requirem ent and press the Enter button to enter t he next level.
29 4.5 Backup Operations 4.5.1 Mobi le Rack HD Backup Operati ons There ar e three way s available to duplicate the r ecorded video fr om HD 1 ( Fixed HD) to HD 2 (Mobile Rack HD). Please tak e the following steps to proceed. (1) Set HD 2 to BACKUP first.
30 SELECT : Duplic ate a particular rec orded video from HD1 to HD2. S tay on the DISK SETT ING page. Us e the “ ^ ” and “v” buttons , and , to highli ght B ACKUP , select SEL ECT and the n press the En ter button to list all the r ecorded video.
31 4.5.2 Secure Digi t al Card (SD Card) Backup O perations The SD car d slot of the rear unit has three func tions as shown below: 1. A rchive Sing le image Clips into SD Card Please take the f ollowing steps to archive a cr itical im age in a SD card.

34 5.1 LAN CA MERA S ETTING This page allow s you can select your desired LAN Cam era, whose im ages you can save in the NVR hard disk . The login nam e and password m ust be entered cor rectly . IP / ACCOUNT : Set the des ired c hannel, entering its num ber (1 to 8) in the given spac e.

40 5.2 REC SE TTING This page allows you to set the r ecording r ate and rec ording qualit y , and e nables you to cont inue rec ording when the disk is full. MAX REC RA T E: This option is used fo r limiting the num ber of pictures recorded ever y second into a s torage disk .
41 5.3 CLOCK / TIMER / SEQ SETTING The NVR-2028 pr ovides a weekly table, consisti ng of two periods of time eac h day for scheduled recording. T his option allows y ou to set the tim e each day that the NVR will start and stop recording. CLOCK SETT ING: This entry allows users to set the system tim e.
42 5.4 A LAR M SETTING This menu allows us ers to program the conf igurat ion of alar m r ecording only when an alarm input is activated. The device will rec ord as long as the alar m input is activated. A LM OPERA TION: This option determ ines whether to activate/deactivate the alarm recor ding when it detects an alarm input.
43 5.5 COMMUNICA TION This option allo ws you to configure th e status of the RS-232 c omm unication p ort when conn ected t o an external device, a nd the wir eless com municatio ns settings . (Please r efer to the APPENDIX 2 and Network Function f or m ore details) WIRELESS: This entry allows users to set the wireless s etting.
44 CHA NNEL: Specify the bandwidth that the w ireless radio operates in. T he NVR and wireless LANCAMs ar e associated with operations in one of the frequenc y channels. NOTE: The standar d norms of channel number s and frequency ranges differ from countr y to country .
45 LA NCA M SETUP: This option is used to sel ects either RS232 or WL A N . If yo u wish t o tran sfer i nfor mati on to th e wi rele ss LANCAM via the NVR, y ou m ust selec t the LA NCAM SETUP option to c onfigure the wireless or wired (RS-232) f unction installation.

48 CO MM I D: Comm unication ID f or RS232 com m unication. Af ter the NVR receives a RS232 com mand, it c heck s if the <Dest ID> within the code is the sam e as the CO MM ID, in which case the particular com mand c an be accept.
49 5.6 DISK SETTING REFORMA T : This option allo ws you to c lear out al l the data in the hard- disk drive. Y ou will be re quired to enter the pr e-se t password before pr oceeding with clearing out the data. Enter the standard password “9999” if you don’t set y our individual password.
50 5.7 SYSTEM SETTING This page is used for ac cessing the h istory of the operation stat us, setting th e password, res uming f actor y default, and determ ining the m enu display background. OPERA TION LOG: This log shows the history of the operation status in chr onological order .
51 MENU BACKGND: There ar e 3 levels of bac kgr ound color transpar ency, y ou c an choose f rom : level 1 is totally transparent, level 3 is opaque, and level 2 is between level 1 and 3. The bac kground c olor is used in setup m enu and search f unction.
52 SD SETUP: The NVR of fers a quic k s etup method by using a SD card. If the us er wants to set up m any a number of the sam e devices with the same settings , he can save the whole settings to a SD c ard, then transf er to another NVR. SA VE: Saves the whole setting to the SD card.

54 6. 6. Secure the driver in the rack using two mounting s crews in both the side-m ounting holes. Please don’t tighten the screws too m uch, otherwise that may damage the dr iver . 7. 8. 7. Screw the rack in to the de vice, screwi ng in all the four s crews.

58 8. Index T able The f ollowing description details how the NVR-2028 m anages an index table issue. The NVR will generate a tim e index table indicating re c orded data is kept in a partic ular HDD. This allows to individually selec ting recorded data to be displayed via the alarm list searc h and full list search.
59 9. Wireless Networ k Configuration 9.1 Configure Y our NVR-2028 Network Settings Upon wir eless net work hardware con nection, you ne ed to ac tivate th e wirel ess net work f unction and configur e the proper network s ettings of the NVR.
