8 OPERA TION HO W T O USE Y OUR TILLER Know ho w to operate all controls before adding fuel and oil or attempting to star t engine. ST OPPING (See Fig. 9) TINES AND DRIVE • Release drive control bar to stop mov ement. • Mov e shift lev er to “N” (neutr al) position.
9 TURNING • Release the drive control bar . • Mov e throttle control to “SLO W” position. • Place shift lev er indicator in “F” (forward) position.
10 OPERA TION TILLING HINTS CA UTION: Until you are accustomed to handling y our tiller , star t actual fi eld use with throttle in slo w position (mid-way between “F AST” and “IDLE”). • Tilling is digging into , turning over , and breaking up pack ed soil before planting.

12 MAINTENANCE GENERAL RECOMMEND A TIONS The warranty on this tiller does not co ver items that ha ve been subjected to operator ab use or negligence. T o receive full value from the w arranty , the operator must main tain tiller as instructed in this manual.

14 MUFFLER Do not operate tiller without muffl er . Do not tamper with e xhaust system. Damaged muffl ers or spark arresters could create a fi re hazard. Inspect pe ri odi cally and re place if nec es sary . If your engine is equipped with a spark arrester screen assembly , re move e v er y 50 hours f or cleaning and inspection.
15 tire_3 TILLER T O ADJUST HANDLE HEIGHT (See Fig. 22) Select handle height best suited f or your tilling conditions. Handle height will be diff erent when tiller digs into soil. • First loosen handle lock le v er . • Handle can be positioned at diff erent settings between “HIGH” and “LO W” positions.

19 ST ORA GE ENGINE OIL Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace with clean oil. (See “ENGINE” in the Maintenance section of this man ual). CYLINDER(S) • Remov e spark plug. • P our 1 ounce (29 ml) of oil through spar k plug hole into cylinder .
