W hen local codes requir e complianc e with NSF 5, the heater must be sealed to the floor with a food grade silicone to prevent debris and harb orage of vermin under the heater .

16 Air intak e/vent connections 1. Combustion Air Intak e Connector (FIG. ’ s 2-5 and 2-6) - U sed to provide combustion air dir ectly to the unit from outd oors. A fitting is pr ovided on the unit for final connection. Combustion air piping must be supported per guidelines listed in the N ational Mechanical C ode, Section 305, T able 305.

(natural and LP) maximum during stand-by (static) mode and while in operating (dynamic) mode. If an in-line regulator is used, it must be a minimum of 10 feet from the Shield water heater .

42 9 Condensa te disposal Condensate drain 1. This water heater is a high efficiency appliance that produces c ondensate. 2. Slope condensate tubing do w n and awa y from the water heater into a drain or condensat e neut ralizing filter . 47 11 Oper a ting infor mation General How the w ater heater operates The Shield water heater c ombines an advanced stainless steel heat ex changer , elect ronic c ontrol module, and tank that allows fully c ondensing operation. The blo wer pulls in air and pushes flue products out of the heat exchanger and flue piping.
48 Wa ter heater temperature r e gula tion Operating temperature (t arget) The electronic contr ol module senses water temperature in the tank and regulates wat er heater ignition and firing rate to achieve a target t emperature. The target temperature can be set between 60°F and 185°F .
