INTRODUCT ION 1.1. General Introduction VP - 794 is a very flexible image sc alers developed specifically for driving large s creen displays such as Projectors and LED videowal ls in multiple screen application s fr om video or graphics sources.
Sy stem control is via a m enu system either on screen or through the inbuilt TCP/IP W eb server or via the built in L CD panel and jog dial . The OSD (On Screen Display ) is scaled to fit the chosen window .

2.2.8. Display Output Three output c onnectors are provided which are useable simultaneously, provided that the input signal is not HDCP encry pted. W hen the input signal has HDCP encr y ption, the DVI- D output connector will carry a sim ilarly HDCP encry pted signal, the V G A and 3G-SDI connectors will be di s abled.
The following output modes can be set up: (HFP/VFP: horiz ontal and vertical fr ont porch, HBP/VBP: horizontal and vertical fr ont porch, HS/VS: horizon tal and vertical sy nc, HT ot/VTot: horizon tal.

3.1. 3. Web Browser The factory default is DHCP. The Network Settings menu allows to conf igure the VP - 794 TCP/IP address. Under Address T ype a static or DHCP leased address can be chosen. The static address and Netm ask needs to be entered manually .
3.4. Software Operation Once the address has been entered the W eb browser starts to load pages from the VP - 794 mirroring the m enu sy s tem of the unit. All m enu item s are shown as their respective buttons, sliders and list boxes and can be accessed and altered wi th the PC mouse or corre sponding navigati onal k ey pres ses.
Menu items can be lists, sliders or alpha numeric fields. A list item can be activated by moving the mouse pointe r over the list item and clicking the left mouse button. The list com es up and an item can be selected by moving the mouse pointer to the desired value (ON or OFF) and clicking the left mouse button again.
A page for file uploads is provide d. Test patterns can be created on a PC and uploaded to the VP - 794 unit. Also, an alpha map can be loade d to VP - 794 . Details are outlined i n section 4. VP - 794 set-ups can be back ed up to a PC an d restored later through W eb browser uploads.
3.5. Introduction The front panel has keys and a jog wheel for OSD and local LCD menu navigation and direct k eys for input channel sel ection. W hen applying power to the unit it starts up. T his is indicated by the green O N LED flashing. O nce the unit is operational , the ON LED is perm anently on.
The back panel f eatures all input and output connectors, c omm unication ports and the power supply connector. 1 – SD , HD -SDI , 3G -SDI input 2 – Composite Video 1 (RCA) and S-Video inp ut 3 .
3.6. Main M enu The m ain m enu lists the input channel select item, 6 s ub m enus, and a m enu item f or autom atic s etup of VGA m odes . The 6 sub menus are Output, Color, Geom etry, Multiple Unit, Enhancement and Sy stem . On each m enu page an Exit m enu item is available to leave the menu or subm enu.
Set to LCD/Plasma if you want only scaler functions and do not need the warp functions to be shown in the menu system. In this mode also the Flicker Filter becom es available.
For all other modes 48Hz, 50Hz and 60Hz refresh rate is availabl e. 3. 8.5. I/O Lock Availab le settings: Off, Source, Genlock, Auto If I/O Lock is switched OFF the output is run with a fixed r efresh rate determ ined by the f rame rate setting.
It is recom m ended to use a setting between 0 and 16 and not m ore than 20. For most LED videowall s the optim um setting for Black Crush is between 8 and 20. For particularly noisy sub ject m aterial 24 can be used but detail loss m ay occur in dark areas.
3.9 . Color This is an INPUT channel m enu containing adjustments associated with setting up inputs to the unit. 3.9 .1 . Black-Level Offset Settings: 0 IRE, 7.5 IRE Used t o select 7.5 IRE black level set -up adjustm ent. Should alway s be set to 7.5 IRE f or HDMI video and NTSC video inputs and shoul d usually be OFF for PAL analog v ideo inputs.
3.10 . Geometry This m enu contains adju stm ents ass ociated with setting up position , aspect ratio and scale of the input signal.. 3.10 .1 . Horizontal and Vertical Position Settings: in steps of 1 pixel or line Change the position al value s to matc h the display boarders.
3.10 .4. Picture Format Settings: Standard, Full Screen, Cr op, A namo rph ic Picture Form at allows a user to select the displayed aspect ratio where the signal input is different to the display panel’s natural aspect ratio.
3.11 . PiP VP - 794 can be rebooted in a s ingle unit conf iguration in the Sy stem Menu. T hen the multiple unit m enu is replaced by a PiP m enu. It contains adjustm ents assoc iated with setting up source, position and size of a picture in picture video i mage.
3.12 . Multiple Un it VP - 794 when operated it’s Projector or LED modes and in the default ‘ multiple unit ’ conf iguration (not PIP) it has a Multipl e Unit m enu.

Horizontal Pos and Vertical Pos Settings: 0 to 3 i ndicating co-ordinates 0,0, to 3.3 for the m aximum m atrix size of 16 W ith Auto zoo m turned ON this provides the VP - 794 unit inform ation of which w indow porti on of the total image it is assigned to and has to process (cut out and resiz e).
3.12 .6. Black-Level Uplift In LED mo de: T his should be set to z ero In Projection mode: This enables the user to provide a black level uplift to com pensate for the additional light leakage f rom multiple projectors in overlap regions. The black level uplift can be set for the 9 possible region s of the image.
3.13 .4. Flicker Filter Note: T his feature and the corresponding sliders are only avai lable when VP - 794 is operated in LED or LCD and Plasma mode to be set under Output/Display Type/Di splay . Also, t his feature is only available when the Display M ode is set to Low Laten cy .
For 3GSDI y ou can choose between L evelA and L evel B ty pe input modes. SD I audio input is routed to the HDMI and 3 GSDI output connector by default. VP - 794 can also be set to monitor audio on the SPDIF connector. SDI Audio on t he HDMI and 3GSDI connector and SPDIF connector are mutually exclusive.
3.14 .5. Menu Settings Th is m enu provides items to change the m enu position and m enu display time, i.e. the tim e after which the OSD is switched OFF again with no user interaction. OSD Messages can be activated and deactivated. The m enu language can be altered and the keypad can be lock ed.
REMOT E CONTRO L WEB SERVER 4.1. Introduction VP - 794 features a W eb server which connects to a PC W eb browser via TCP/IP. The menu system of VP - 794 is m irrored into the W eb browser and all menu items can be access ed and c ontrolled through th e keyboard or mouse of the PC.
4. 5. File Upload A page for file uploads is provide d. Test patterns can be created and stored on the PC. Four such custom test patterns can be uploa ded to and stored by the VP - 794 unit. Each of the test patterns in the four slots can be deleted and replaced by another test pattern.
FIRMW A RE UPDATE 5.1. Introduction VP - 794 has a USB port which allows a PC connection.
