1 Introduction Congratulations on pu rchasing your new Pr otron Portable DVD Player! With a large 7" screen and over two and a half hours of battery lif e, your new player allows you to watch movies on the road , in the air—anywhere.
2 Unpacking Y our New DVD Player Before using you r new portable DVD player , yo u should unpack the cont ents of the box and check to make sure everything is prese nt and undamaged. T o unpack the player: 1. Open the box. Remove the carryin g case, which holds the p layer in one po cket and the accessories in the other .

Attach the battery to the rea r of the player: Line up the four tabs o n the batte ry with the four corresponding slots on the player , drop the tabs into the slots, th en slide the battery toward the front of the display .
4 Operating the Player T ur ning the Player On and Off Once a charged ba ttery is attached to the player or the player is attached to a power outlet with t he power adapter , turn the player on and off by sliding th e POWER switch on the left side of th e player to the appropriate position.
Operating the Player 5 Inserting a Disc The receptacle for DVDs and CD s is located directly beneath the scr een. T o insert a disc: 1. Press the OPEN button to open t he recept acle. 2. Snap the disc onto the spind le in the cente r . 3. Close the recept acle cover .
6 Playing DVDs DVDs will play upon insertion. The player can perform all stand ard DVD playback and s earch functions. The On-Scree n Display The DVD OSD has two modes: The first mode (press OSD once) shows the current title, chapter , and playback time.
Playing DVDs 7 Sear ching to a Location Y ou can search to a title, chapter , or time on the curren t disc using the SEARCH button. T o search to a location: 1. Press SEARCH to bring up the Search menu. 2. Use and to select title, chapter , or time. 3.
8 Playing V ideo CDs Video CDs can contain video or st ill images such as phot os. Y ou r DVD player will play all standard Video CD formats. Upon insertion, the player will read and begin to play the CD. If there is a menu on the CD, it will appear , allowing you to navigate through the tracks stored o n the CD.
Playing Video CDs 9 Sear ching to a Location Y ou ca n search to a track o r time on the curr ent disc using th e SEARCH button . T o search to a location: 1. Press SEARCH to bring up the Search menu. 2. Use and to select track or time. 3. Enter the desired locatio n.
10 Playing Audio CDs Audio CDs will play upon insertion. Al l standard Audio CD na vigation features are avai lable. The On-Scree n Display The Audio CD OSD displays the curren t track, mute status, rep eat mode, and playback time . Controlling Playback Press once to stop the disc at the current locatio n, and twice to stop the disc completely .
Playing Audio CDs 11 2. Press A-B RPT once more to mark the end of the section. “REPEA T A–B” will display on the sc reen. The section will begin repeat ing and will continue until you pre ss A-B RPT again. Progra mming Playback Sequence The PROGRAM button brings up the Program menu, which allows you to program playback seque nce.
12 Playing Kodak Pictur e CDs Upon insertion, the player will read and b egin to play your Kodak Picture CD, displaying a slidesho w of the images on the disc. The On-Scree n Display The OSD shows the current im age number and repe at mode. Controlling Playback Press to stop slideshow playback and return to the menu.
Playing Kodak Picture CDs 13 Press and to scroll t hrough menu pag es. Use the arrow controls to select the desired image and p ress . Alternatively , enter the numb er of the desired image on the ke ypad. The selected imag e will display on the screen.
Playing Kodak Picture CDs 14 Progra mming Playback Sequence The PROGRAM bu tton brings up the Prog ram menu, which allows you to program playback seq uence. There are 16 slots availa ble. T o program playback sequence: 1. Press PROGRAM to brin g up the Program menu .
15 Playing Media on Data CDs Upon inserting a data CD, the player will display a menu showing all media files on the disc and allowing you to select files for playback. The On-Scree n Display The OSD displays the curren t file number , mute status, repea t mode, and playback time .
Playing M edia on Data CDs 16 Controlling Audio File Playback Press to pause playback. Press to resu me playback. Press once to stop CD playback at the cu rrent location, an d twice to stop the CD completely . Press to return to the previous file. Press to skip to the next file.
Playing Media on D ata CDs 17 • Window Vertically • Wipe from Edge to Cen ter •R a n d o m Controlling V ideo File Playba ck When video is playing, press to pause it. When the video is paused , press to step forward one frame at a time. Press to stop playback and re turn to the menu.

19 Using the Remote Control The remote control ca n be used to control ever y aspect of the display’ s operation and includ es more functionality th an the controls on the player itself.
Using the Remote Control 20 Zooms in on the picture When viewing a DVD or Video CD, pressing this button repeatedly cycles throu gh seve n zoom levels: ×2, ×3, ×4, ×1/2, ×1/3, ×1/4, and ×1. When viewing a data CD contai ni ng images, pressing t he button cycles throug h five zoom levels: 25%, 50%, 100%, 150%, and 200%.

Replacing the Remote Battery The remote requires a CR 2025 battery , whic h is held in a smal l enclosure at the bottom of th e remote.
23 Configuring the Player The Setup menu allows you to configure the operation of the player . Y ou ca n change video, audio, and language se ttings, control acc ess to mature programming , and configur e other general display behavior . T o use the Setup menu: 1.

Configuring the Player 25 OSD Language Changes the language of the Setup menu and th e OSD, which displays information ab out the current med ia and settings . Audio Lang Changes the language used for audio. Subtitle Lang Changes the language used for subtitles.
26 Using the Player in a V ehicle Y our port able DVD player is designed to accommod ate usage in a vehicle. A vehicle powe r adapter is includ ed to power the play er from your vehicle, an d the carrying case can b e adapted to attach the player to a seatback.

28 Connecting the Player to Other Devices Y ou ca n connect your portab le DVD player to an external disp lay for a larger picture, or to an extern al audio system for bett er sound.
Connecting the Player to Other Devices 29 T o conn ect to an analog syste m, attach the red (left) and white (right) connectors on the included au dio adapter cable to an aud io system input, and connect the o ther end of the ca ble to the AUDIO jack on the player .
30 Using the Battery Pack The battery life of the included battery pac k is more than two and a half ho urs. It attaches to the rea r of the player and may be charged sepa rately or while connected to the player .

32 T r oubleshooting Symptom Possible Cause Resolu tion Power light does not come on Power cord(s ) not securely connected Make sure the power cable from the DC power adapter is firmly inserted into the socket on the display . Make sure the power cord fr om the wall is connected securely to th e DC power adapter and wall ou tlet.
