Getting started 2 Loading the batteries T wo AA non-rechargeable start er batterie s are included with your camera. F or information on approved battery types and exte nding battery life , see page 3 . 1 Mak e sure the Mode dial is set to Off (s ee page 4 ).
Getting started 3 Important battery information Battery safety and handling ■ Do not allow batteries to touch metal ob jects , including coins . Otherwise , a battery may short circui t, discharge energy , become hot, or leak.

Getting started 5 Selecting a language Selecting a language, first time T he Language scre en is displa yed the first time you turn on the camera. ■ Press to highlight a language , then press the OK button. The Set Date & Time screen is disp layed in the current language (see Setting the date & time, first time ).

Getting started 7 Storing pictures and videos on an SD/MMC card Y our camera has 16 MB of internal memory . Y ou can purchas e optional SD/MMC cards for remov able , reus able image stor age for pictures and videos . Purchase this and other accessories at a dealer of K odak products.
8 2 T aking pictures and videos T he camer a is ready to tak e pictures or video s when you turn it on—even i f you are in Review , Share , or Setup . Taking a picture 1 T urn the Mode dial to the St ill mode you want to use: 2 Use the viewfinder or camera screen to frame y our subject.

T aking pictures and videos 12 Putting yourself in the picture or video T he Self T imer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutter button and the time t he picture or video is tak en. 1 T urn the Mode dial to any Still mode for pictures , or to Video for videos , then press the Menu button.
T aking p ictures and vide os 13 5 Place the cam era on a flat surface or use a tripod. 6 Compose the scene . Press the Shutter button, then move so that you are in the scene . The Self Timer ligh t blinks slowly for 8 seconds (th en quickly for 2 seconds ) before the picture is taken.
T aking pictures and videos 14 Third—transfer to your computer When you tr ansfer the tagged pictures and vid eos to your computer , the K odak EasyShare software opens and cate gorizes your pictures and videos in the appropriate album folder . See the Kodak EasyShare softw are Help for details .
T aking p ictures and vide os 15 Date Stamp (Still modes) Imprint the date on pictures. This setting remains until you change it. Turn the Date Stamp on or off, or change the date stamp format. Video Date Display (Video mode) Display capture date and time before the video starts.
16 3 Reviewing pictures and videos Press the Review button to view and wo rk with your pictures and videos . T o save battery power , place your came r a in a compatib le K odak EasyShare camera dock or K odak EasyShare printe r dock (sold separately) to review pictures and videos .

Before you copy , m ake sure that: ■ A card is inserted in the camer a. ■ T he camera’ s image storage loca tion is set to the location from which you are copying.
22 4 Installing the softwar e Minimum system requirements NO TE: Mac OS 8.6 and 9.x do not s upport the Share button functions . Mac OS X is recommended for full functionality . Install the software CAUTION: Install K odak EasyShare softwar e before connecting the camera or optional camera dock to the computer .
Installing the software 23 3 Load the software: Windows OS-based computer— if the i nstall window does not appear , choose Run from the Start me nu and type d:setup.exe where d is the drive letter that contains the CD . Mac OS X— double-click the CD icon on the desktop , then click the Ins tall icon.

T roubleshooting 30 In Review mode, a blue or black screen is displayed instead of a picture. File format is unreco gnized. Transfer the picture to the computer ( page 27 ). Shutter button does not work. Camera is not turned on. Turn on the camera ( page 4 ).
T roubleshooting 31 Picture is too dark or underexposed. Flash is not on. Turn on the flash ( page 10 ). Subject is too far away for the flash to be effectiv e. Move so there is no more than 7.9 ft (2.4 m) between the camera and the subject. Subject is in front of a bright light (backlit).

T roubleshooting 34 Memory card is unusable (Insert new memory card) Card is slow, corrupted, or unreadable. Insert a new card ( page 7 ) or format the card ( page 15 ). Caution: Formatting a card dele tes all pictures and videos, including protected files.
