1 1 Getting Star ted Install Software First Install the software from the Kodak EasyShare software CD before connecting the camera (or camera dock) to the comput er . Failure to do so may cause the software to load incorrectly . See the Start Here! gui de or Installing the Software, page 61 .

4 Chapter 1 Loading the Batteries T wo AA digital camera batteri es (non-r echargeable) are incl uded with your camera. 1 T urn off the camera. 2 On the bottom of th e camera, slide the battery door and lift to open. 3 Insert the batteries, as shown. 4 Close the batte ry door .
5 Chapter 1 Attaching the Wrist Strap 1 Thread the short loop of the wrist strap through the wrist strap post. 2 Thread the long loop through the short loop.

9 Chapter 1 Checking Camera Status The icons that appear on the camera scre en indicate the active ca mera and picture settings . See page 10 for a list of the icons. T o check the current camera set tings: ! T urn the Mode dial from the Off position.
10 Chapter 1 Camera Screen Icons These icons appear on your camera sc reen when the settings are active. *For all flash icons, see page 22 . Capture Modes (also on Mode d ial) Camera/Picture Status Sh.
11 Chapter 1 Inserting an MMC/SD Card Y our camera has 16 MB of internal memory . However , op tional SD/MMC cards provide removable, re usable storage for pictures and videos. CAUTION: The card should only be inserted as ex plained below . If inserted incorrectly , the door won’t close, and forcing it may damage the camera or card.
12 Chapter 1 Choosing Internal Memory or SD/MMC Card The camera offers two options for storing pictures and videos: Internal Memory — Store pictures an d videos in 16 MB i nternal memory . SD/MMC Card — Store pictures and videos on a card. The number of pictures or len gth of videos depend s on the size of the card.
13 Chapter 1 Checking Your Storage Setting In Still and V ideo modes , the storage location icon th at appears in the status area indicates the camera ’ s storage loca tion. T o check the location, either: ! T urn the Mode dial from the Off position, or ! In any capture mode, press .
14 Chapter 1 Important Battery Information Choose the replacement batt ery that fits your needs—and get the best performance. Kodak Battery Replacement Types/Battery Life Y our camera can use the fol lowing types of batte ries. Actual battery life may vary based on usage.

17 2 T aking Pictur es The camera is ready to take pictures whe n you turn it on—even if you are in Review , Share, or Setup. (In Video mode , the camera captures video.) Before you take a picture, make sure the storage location is set the way you want it (see page 12 ).
18 Chapter 2 Picture-Taking Modes Use this mode For: Auto General picture-taking. Automaticall y sets exposure, focus, and flash. Night Night scenes or low-light conditions. Place the camera on a flat, steady surface or use a tripod. Due to slow shutter speeds, advise peop le to stay still for a few seconds after flash fires.
19 Chapter 2 Liveview—Framing with the Camera Screen When you turn on Liveview , the camera screen displays a live image of what the lens sees. Use the camera sc reen to frame your subject. IMPORT ANT : Livevie w significantly r educes battery life.
20 Chapter 2 Quickview—Reviewing the Picture Just Taken After you take a picture, the camera scre en displays a Quickview of that picture for approximately 5 seco nds. While the picture is displayed, you can: ! Review it: If you take no action , the picture is saved.
21 Chapter 2 Using the Optical Zoom Use Optical Zoom to get up to 3X clos er to your subject. Optical zoom is effective when the lens is no closer th an 19.7 in. (50 cm) to the subject. When you turn on the camera, the lens extends to the Wide Angle position.
22 Chapter 2 Using the Flash Use the flash when you take pictures at night, indoors, or outdoors in hea vy shadows. You can change the flash setti ng in any Stil l mode; the default flash setting is restored when you exit the mode or turn off the camera.
23 Chapter 2 Flash Settings in Each Mode For the best possible pictur es, flash settings are pre- set for each capture mode. * In these modes, when yo u change to Red-eye, i t remains until you change it.
24 Chapter 2 Changing Picture- Taking Options Use the Capture menus to ch ange picture-taking options. If you are in Review , Share, or Setup modes you must return to Capture mo de before you can access the Capture me nus. To Return to Capture from Another Mode T o return to Capture from: ! 27 Chapter 2 Putting Yourself in the Picture The Self Timer creates a 10-second de lay between the time you press the Shutter button and the time the picture is take n. 1 In any Still mode, press t he Menu button. 2 Press to highlight the Self Timer icon , then press the OK button.
28 Chapter 2 Setting Exposure Compensation Use Exposure Compensation to control how much light enters t he camera. This setting is useful for taking pictures in high-contrast scenes, or for retaking pictures when you are not sa ti sfied with the bright ness.

30 Chapter 2 Taking a Burst Series of Pictures Burst lets you to take up to 3 pictures in quick su ccession (approxi mately 3 frames per second). Burst is ideal for capturing sporting events or objects in motion. Self Timer is disabled when you use Burst.

34 Chapter 2 Setting the Orientation Sensor If you rotate the camera to ta ke a picture (for example, a portrait shot), the Orientation Sensor reorients the picture so that it is displayed correct side up. The Orientation Sensor is turned on as th e de fault.
35 3 Ta k i n g V i d e o s Use Video mode to take videos and to customize vide o- taking settings. Before you take a video, make sure your picture storage location is se t the way you want it (see page 12 ). NOTE: Flash is not available in Vi deo mo de.
36 Chapter 3 Quickview—Reviewing the Video Just Taken After you take a video, t he camera proce sses it, then displays the first frame of the video for approximately 5 seconds. While the frame is displayed, you can: ! Play it: Press the OK button. Press the OK button again to pause the vide o.

41 4 Reviewing Pictur es and Videos Press the Review button to view and work with your pictures and videos. T o save battery power , place your camera in the optional Kodak EasySha re camera dock 6000 or Kodak EasyShare pr inter dock 6000 to review picture s and videos (see page 67 ).

48 Chapter 4 Running a Continuous Slide Show Loop When you turn on Lo op , the slide show is continuously repeated. 1 On the Slide Show menu, press to highlight Loop, then press the OK button.
49 Chapter 4 Copying Pictures and Videos Y ou can copy pictures and videos from a card to internal memor y or from internal memory to a card. Before you copy , make sure that: ! A card is inserted in the camera. ! The camera’ s picture storage lo cation is se t to the locati on from which you are copying.
50 Chapter 4 Displaying Video Date T o display the capture date and time (only durin g video playback o n the camera): 1 Press the Review button, then press the Menu button. 2 Press to high light V ideo Date Di splay , then press the OK button. 3 Highlight an option, then press the OK button.
51 5 Sharing Pictur es and Videos The Share button lets you “tag” your pictures and videos. When they are transferred to your co mputer , you can share: When Can I Tag My Pi ctures and Videos? Press the Share button to tag pictures and videos: ! Any time (the last picture taken and the Share menu are displayed).
52 Chapter 5 Tagging Pictures for Printing 1 Press the Share button. Press to locate a picture. 2 Press to highlight Print , then press the OK button.* 3 Press to select the number of copie s (0-99). Zero removes the tag for that picture. The Print icon appears in the status area.

68 Chapter 9 Installing the Custom Camera Insert A universal insert is pre-instal led in the came ra dock. It allows all Kodak EasyShare CX/D X6000 se ries and LS600 serie s cameras to use the came ra dock. A custom insert is included with your came ra.
69 Chapter 9 Connecting the Camera Dock 6000 After the Kodak EasyShare software is loaded (see page 6 1 ), connect the camera dock to your computer an d to a power outlet.
70 Chapter 9 Installing the Rechargeable Battery Y ou received non-rechargeable batter ies with your came ra. T o take full advantage of your camera dock 6000, replace t he batteries wit h the Kodak EasyShare Ni-MH rechargeabl e battery pa ck that is packaged with the camera dock.
71 Chapter 9 Docking the Camera T o charge the battery or to transfer pictures and videos from the camera to the computer: 1 Flip down the camera dock foot. The camera dock now sits at the proper angle for viewing th e camera screen. 2 T urn off the camera.

77 10 T roubleshooting When you have questions ab out your camera or camera dock 6000 , start here. Additional technical informa tion is a vailable in the Re adMe file located on the Kodak EasyShare software CD . For updates to T roubles hooting information, see www .
78 Chapter 10 Shutter button does not work. Camera is not turned on. Turn on the ca mera ( page 6 ). The camer a is processing a pict ure; the ready light (near the viewfinder) is blinking re d. Wait until the ready light stops blinking red before attempting to take another picture.
79 Chapter 10 In Review mode, you do not see a pictu re (or the expected picture) on the camera screen. The camera ma y not be accessing the correct storage location. Check the picture storage location setting ( page 12 ). Picture is too dark. Flash is not on.
80 Chapter 10 In Review mode, a blue screen is displayed instead of a picture. The picture has no thumbnail or an unrecognized thumbnail. Transfer the picture to the computer ( page 65 ), or delete th e picture ( page 43 ). Picture is not clear. The lens is dirty.
81 Chapter 10 Camera/Computer Communications Problem Cause Solution The computer cannot communicate with th e camer a. (For communication problems wi th a camera dock 6000, see page 75 .) There is a problem with the configuration of the USB port on the computer.
82 Chapter 10 SD/MMC Cards and Internal Memory Cannot transfer pictures. (The Add New Hardware Wizard cannot locate d rivers.) Software is not installed. Disconnect USB cable . (If using camera dock, di sconnect cabl e and remove camera from dock). Inst all EasyShare software ( page 61 ).
83 Chapter 10 Camera Screen Messages Memory card full Storage is full. Transfer pi ctures and videos to the computer, then delete them from the camera. The maximum number of files or folders is reached (or other directory concern). Transfer pictures and videos to the computer , then format the card or internal memory ( page 60 ).
84 Chapter 10 Internal memory requires formatting The camera internal memory is corrupted. Format the internal memory ( page 60 ). Caution: Formatting erases all pictures and videos, including protected files. (Formatting internal memory also erases email addresses and album names.
85 Chapter 10 Memory card is protected (Reset switch on memory card) Switch on card is in write-protect position. Reset the switc h as shown on camera screen. Memory card is locked (Insert new memory card) The card is write-protected. To take a picture, insert a new card or change storage location to internal memory ( page 12 ).
86 Chapter 10 Date and time have been reset This is the first time you turned on the camera; or the battery ha s been removed for an extended period of time; or the battery is exhausted. Reset the clock ( page 8 ). High camera temperature. (Camera will be turned off.
87 Chapter 10 Unrecognized file format The camera cannot read the picture format. Transfer the unreadable picture to the computer ( page 65 ), or de lete the picture ( page 43 ). No address book on camera (Connect with computer to import address book) Address book has not been copied to the camera from the computer.
88 Chapter 10 Camera Ready Light Status Status Cause Solution Ready light does not turn on and the camera does not work. Camera is not turned on. Turn on the camera ( page 6 ). Battery is exhausted. Recharge the battery ( page 72 ) or install a n ew one ( page 4 ).
89 Chapter 10 Ready light blinks amber. Flash is not charged. Wait. Resume picture taking when the light stops blinking and turns gree n. Auto exposure or auto focus are not locked. Release the Shutter button and recompose the picture. Ready light blinks red.
