5 Chapter 1 Turning the Camera On and Off 1 Slide th e On/Off switch t o the O n posi tion. The ready light blinks green while the camera performs a self-check, then glows steady green when the cam era is ready to take pictures. 2 T o turn o ff the c amera, sl ide the O n/Off switch to the Off positi on.
6 Chapter 1 Select in g a Lang uage Y ou can display menus and screen messages in different languag es. The Language screen is automatical ly displayed the first time you turn on the camera. If this is the first time the camera has been turned on, go to step 4.
7 Chapter 1 Setting the Clock The Date & Time screen appears the first time you turn on the camera or if the batter y is removed for an exte nded time. If this is the fi rst tim e the came ra has been turned on, go to step 4. T o set the date and time afte r that: 1 In Capture or Revi ew mode, press the Menu butto n.
8 Chapter 1 Checking Camera Status T o check the current camera settings, press t he down arrow in Capture mode or the flash button any time : Camera Status Icons Battery Status If no battery icon appears on the LCD, the battery is fully charged. *A blin king batter y ico n means the b atter y is to o weak to power th e cam era.
9 Chapter 1 Inserting an SD/MMC Card Optional SD/MMC cards provide removable, reusable storage for pictures. CAUTION: The card can only be inse rted one way; forcing it may damage the camera or card. Do not inse rt or re move a car d when the green ready light is blinking; it may damage your pic tures, card, or camera.
10 Chapter 1 Choosing Internal Memory or SD/MMC Card The camera offers two options for storing pictures: Internal Memory — store up t o 14 pictures ( at Best quali ty) in the 16 MB inter nal m emor y . SD/MMC Card — store as man y pictures as you like, depending o n the size o f the c ar d.
11 Chapter 1 Camera Modes The camera has four modes: Capture, Review , Share, and Setup. Y ou can always tell which mode the camera is in: Capt ure — the LCD i s bla nk, no im age is displa yed. Press the down arrow to display the status bar and mode icon.

16 Chapter 2 Liveview — Using the LCD to Frame Your Subject When you turn on Livevie w , the LC D displays a live image of wh at the lens sees. Look at the LCD to frame your picture. 1 Make sure the camera is in Capture mode ( on the LCD). 2 Press the OK bu tton to turn on Livevi ew .
17 Chapter 2 Quickview — Reviewing the Picture Just Taken After you take a pic ture, the LCD displ ays a Quickview of that pi cture for 5 seconds. While the picture is displaye d, you can: ! Review It. If you take no act ion, the picture is saved. ! Delete it.
18 Chapter 2 Using the Fl ash Use the flash when you ta ke picture s outdoors in hea vy shadows, at night, or indoors. Flash is effective at the dist ances of 1 .6 to 9.8 f eet (0. 5 to 3 m). Press the button repeatedly to scroll through th e flash optio ns.

20 Chapter 2 Changing Pictur e-Taking Options Use the Capture menus to change picture-taki ng options. If you are in Review , Share, or Setup modes you must return to Capture mode before you can access the Capt ure menus.
21 Chapter 2 Taking C lose-up Pi ctures The Close-up setting helps you gain sharpness and det ail at close range. The Close-Up focus distance is 5. 9 to 19.7 in. (150 to 5 00 mm). T o t urn on Close-u p: 1 In Ca pture mo de, pres s the Menu button. 2 Highlight Close-up , then press the OK butto n.

23 Chapter 2 Setting Exposure Com pensation Use E xposure C ompensa tion to contro l how muc h ligh t is allo wed int o the camera. The exposure range is +2 to -2 in 1/2-step increments.
24 Chapter 2 Setting Pictur e Quality Use the Qualit y setting to select a picture resolution : 1 In Capture mode, press the Menu butt on. 2 Highlig ht Qualit y , then pr ess the OK button. The active Qua lity setting appears in t h e top left corner .

26 Chapter 2 Setting the O rientation S ensor If you rotate the camera to take a picture (for example, a portrait shot ), the Orientation Sensor rotates the picture so it is displayed correct side up during Quick view and R evi ew . The Orie ntation Sensor is turne d on as the defau lt.
27 3 Reviewing P ictur es — Rev iew Mode Use Review mode to view and work with the pictures that are stored in internal memory or on a card. NOTE: Review ing pictures on the LCD quickly depletes bat tery power . An optiona l AC adapter i s available (see p age 87 ).

34 Chapter 3 Copying Pictures Y ou can cop y pictures from a card to internal memory , or from internal memory to a card. Before you cop y make sure that: ! A card is inserted in the camera. ! The camera ’ s pict ure storage locat ion is set t o the location from which you are copying.

38 Chapter 4 Tagging Pictures for Printing 1 Locate a picture, then press the Share button. 2 Highlight Pr int and press the OK button. 3 Press to select the number of copies (0-99) . Zero removes the tag for that picture. The Print icon appears with the picture.
39 Chapter 4 Tagging Pictur es for Emailing First, use Kodak EasySh are software to create an emai l address book on your computer , then copy up to 32 email addresses to the camera ’ s internal memory . See Kodak EasyShare software Help for details.
40 Chapter 4 Tagging Pictures as F avorites 1 Locate a picture, then press the Share button. 2 Highlight Favorite , then press the OK button. The Favori te icon appears with the picture. 3 T o remove the tag, press the OK button again. 4 Press the Share button to return to Ca pture mode.
41 5 Customizing Camer a Settings — Setup Mode Use Setup mode to c ustomize your camera settings. Y ou can access Setup mode two ways: in the Capture menu screen and the Revi ew menu screen.

The camera dock is also a rapid battery charger for the included Kodak EasySha re Ni-MH rechargeable batt ery pack, and supplies power to the c amera.
54 Chapter 8 Installing the Camera Insert Kodak EasyShare digital cameras are packag ed with a custom camera insert, which is use d to perfectly fit the camera to the came ra dock. 1 Place the front tabs on the cust om insert into the slots in the camera dock cavity .
55 Chapter 8 Connecting the Camera Dock After the Kodak EasyShare sof tware is loaded (see p age 49 ), conne ct the camera dock to your computer and to an external pow er source.

62 Chapter 9 Camera does not turn off . Alkaline b atteries w ere installed in the camera. DO NOT USE ALKALI NE BATTERIE S. Turn off the power s witch, remove the alkaline ba tterie s, and replace with a n approved battery typ e ( page 12 ). If th e p owe r sw itch is on when you replace the batteries, the camera may not turn back on.
63 Chapter 9 Part of the picture is miss ing. Something was blocki ng the lens when the picture was taken. Keep hands, fingers, or other objects away from the lens whe n ta king pic ture s. Your eye or the picture was not centered correctly in the viewfinder.
64 Chapter 9 Camera freezes up when a card is inserted or removed. Camera detects an error when the ca rd was inserted or removed. Turn the camera off, then back on. Make sure the camera is turned off before inserting or removing a card. Pict ure is too ligh t.
65 Chapter 9 Picture is not clear. The lens is dirty. Clean the lens ( pag e 84 ). Subject too close when ta king pi cture. Move so there is at least 11 .8 in (0 .3 m) betwe en the camera and the subject; or turn on Clo se-up ( page 21 ). Camera may be in Close - up ( page 2 1 ) and the subject is to o far away for pr oper foc us.
66 Chapter 9 Camera /Computer Communic ations Camera Commu nications Probl e m Cause Solution The comput er cannot communicate w ith the camera. There is a problem with the co nfigurati on of t he USB port on your computer. See the following file on the Kodak EasyShare soft ware CD: US B.
