5 Chapter 1 Turning the Camera On and Off 1 Slid e the O n/Off sw itch to th e O n posi tion. The ready l ight b links gre en while the camera performs a self-ch eck, then glo w s steady g reen w h en the cam era is ready to ta ke pictures. 2 T o turn off th e ca mera , slide the O n/Off switc h to the Off pos ition.
6 Chapter 1 Se lect in g a La ngua ge Y ou c an display menus and screen messages in differen t languages. The Language screen is au tomatically displ ayed the first time you turn on the camera. If this is the f irst t i me the c amera has b een turned on, go to step 4.
7 Chapter 1 Setting the C lock The Date & T i me screen appears the f irst time you t urn on the camera o r i f the batt ery is removed for an exten ded time . If this is th e first tim e the c amera h as been turned o n, go to s tep 4. T o se t the date a nd t ime aft er that: 1 In C apture or Review mode, press the Menu butt on.
8 Chapter 1 Checking Camera Status T o check the current c amera se ttings p ush the do wn arrow i n Capt ure mode or the flash b utton a ny time : Cam era Statu s Icons Battery Status If no battery icon appears on the LCD, the battery is fully charged.
9 Chapter 1 Inserting an MMC/SD Card Optiona l MMC/SD cards p r o vide removable, reusable storage for pictures. CAU TION: The card ca n only be inserted on e way; forcing it may dam age the camera o r c ard. Do not inse rt or re move a card when the green ready light is blinking; it may damage yo ur pictures, card, or camera .
10 Chapter 1 Choosing Internal M em ory or MM C/ SD Card The camera offers two option s for sto r ing pi ctures: Internal Memor y — store up to 23 pi ctures (at Be st qual ity) in the 16 MB in tern a l mem ory . MMC/SD Card — st ore as many pictu res as you like, storage ca pacity depen ds on the size of the card.
11 Chapter 1 Camera Modes The camera has four modes: Capture, Revi ew , Share, and Setup. Y o u c an always tell which mode the camera i s in: Capt ure — the LCD i s bla nk, no image is di spla yed. If you pre ss the down arrow , the sta tus bar a nd mode i con are displa yed.

14 Chapter 2 Liveview — Using the LCD to Frame You r Subj ec t When you tu r n on Liveview , the LC D displays a live image of what the lens sees. Look at the LCD to frame your pict ure. 1 Make sure the camera is in Cap ture mode ( on t he LCD ). 2 Press the OK butt on to turn on Li ve vi ew .
15 Chapter 2 Quic kview — Reviewing the Picture Just Taken After you t ake a picture , the LCD displ ays a Qui ckview of th at pict ure for 5 seconds. Whi le the pictu re is displaye d, you can : m Review It. If you take no act ion, the pict ure is saved.
16 Chapter 2 Using the Flash Use the fl ash when you ta ke picture s outdoors in hea vy shadow s , at night, o r in doors. Flash is eff ective at the d ist ances of 1 .6 to 7.9 feet ( 0.5 to 2.4 m). Press the bu tton repeated ly to scroll thro ugh the fl ash optio ns.

18 Chapter 2 Taking Close-up Pictures The Close-up setting he lps you gain sharpn ess an d detail at cl ose range. The Close- Up focus dista nce is 7. 9 to 11.8 i n. (200 to 3 00 mm). T o turn on C lose - u p: 1 Make sure the camera is in Cap ture mode.
19 Chapter 2 Changin g Pictur e-Taking Options Use the Capt ure menus to change pict ure-taki ng optio ns. If you are in Review , Share, or Setup modes you must return to Capture mode before you can access the C apture menus.

But remember , you can press the Shutt er button and take a pic ture anyti me, no matt er what mode the camera is in ! NOTE: Reviewing pictures on the LCD qu ickly dep letes battery power .

34 Chapter 4 Taggin g Pictur es for Printing 1 Locate a pictu re, then press the Share butt on. 2 Highli ght Print and press th e OK button. 3 Press to select t he number of copi es (0-99). Zero removes the tag for that picture. The Prin t icon appears with the picture.
35 Chapter 4 Taggin g Pictures for Email ing First, u s e K ODAK EASYSH ARE Softwa re to creat e an email address book on your computer , then copy up to 32 email addresses to the camera ’ s intern al memory . See the KODAK EA SYSHARE So ftware Help for details .
