8 COOKTOP USE Ceramic Glass The surface cooking a rea will glow red when an element i s on. It will cycl e on and off, at all setti ngs, to mainta in the sel ected heat level . Wiping off the c ooktop bef ore and after each u se will hel p keep it free from stains and provide th e most even hea ting.
9 Home Canning When canning for l ong periods, al ter nate the us e of surface cooking areas, elements or su rface bur ners betw een batches. This allows ti me for the most recently u sed areas to cool. ■ Center the canne r on the grate or largest surface cooki ng area or element.
10 Simme r Featur e The Simmer feature is an adjustable h eat setting for more precise simmering. It is the right front (and le ft rear on some mode ls) surface cookin g areas or elements. 13 Ti m e r The Timer coun ts down the set time. On mod els with elec tronic oven control Sty le 1, the timer can b e set in minutes an d seconds or hou rs and m inu tes. NOTE : The Ti mer does not start or stop the oven. 1. Press TIMER SET/ST ART . On models wit h electronic oven control St yle 1, press again to switch from MIN/SEC and HR/MIN.

15 OVEN U SE Odors and smoke are normal when the oven is u sed the first few times, or when it is heavi l y soile d. IMPORT AN T : The health of s ome birds is extremely s ensitive t o the f umes given off. Expo sur e to the fum es ma y resul t in death to certain birds.

17 Broiling uses direct radiant heat to cook food. Use MAXI/ECONO (on some models ) for broili ng regular-sized and smal ler cu ts of meat, poultr y and fish. Broil MAXI uses both top el ements for maximum brow ning coverage of foods. Broil ECONO uses the inner element for browning coverage of a smaller area.
18 ■ Choose cookie sheets without sides and r oasting pans with lower sides t o allow air to move freely around the food. ■ T est baked goods for doneness a few mi nutes before the minimum cooking t ime with an alt ernat ive method such as a toothpick.
19 2. Press ST ART . “ Lo °” will app ear on the oven displ ay if the actual oven temperatu re is under 170 ° F (77 ° C). When the oven te mperature reaches 170 ° F (77 ° C), the oven displa y will show the actu al oven te mperature until t he set point is reach ed.
20 Convection B roil (on some models) During convect ion broiling, th e broil elements will cycle on and off in interv als to maintain oven temp erature, whil e the fan c onstant ly circulates the ho t air .
21 T emperature Change The oven temperat ure can be changed when th e oven(s) are in the Sa bbath M ode. No tones will soun d and the d i splay will not change. The heatin g elements wi ll not tur n on or off for a random time, anyw her e from 1 6 to 24 seconds.
22 RANGE CARE Self-Cleaning Cycle IMPORT AN T : The health of s ome birds is extremely s ensitive t o the fumes give n off during the S elf-Cleanin g cycle. Ex posure to the fume s may result in de ath to cert ain birds. Alw ays move bi rds to another closed an d well ventila ted room.
23 T o Delay Start S elf-Clean: Befo re delay st arting Self -Clean, make s ure the cl ock is set t o the correct time of day . See “ Cl ock/Timer Display ” section. Also, make sure the door is cl osed complet ely or it will not lock an d the cycle will not begin .
24 COOKTOP CONTROLS Do not u se steel wool, a brasive cl eansers or ov en cle aner . Do no t soak knob s. When replacing knobs, make sure knobs are in the Off position.
25 To R e m o v e : 1. Open the oven door . Insert door r emov al pins, in cluded with your ran ge, into both hinge ha ngers. Do n ot remove the pi ns while the door is removed from the range. 2. Carefully close the door until i t rests against th e door removal pins.
