10 Getting Started T ranspor ting the unit 䢇 Remov e the connecting cables when transpor ting the unit. 䢇 When transporting the unit, turn off the pow er of the system. 䢇 P ack the unit with cushioning material so as to av oid shock when transporting.

14 Getting Started Surveillance Using the Built-in Viewer VN-V686U comes with a built-in ActiveX JPEG Viewer and MPEG4 Viewer . JPEG images and MP EG4 images of VN-V686U can be monitored using th e computer by installing this built-in view er on the computer .
15 Alarm VN-V686U comes with a motion detection feature and dual alar m input . By motion detection or alarm input, actions such as mail delivery , mes sage transmission via TCP/UDP , alar m output, tur ning to p reset position, chan ging B&W mode can be tr iggered.
16 Connection/Installation Preparation 1 Make holes on the ceiling ● Use the provided template to make a hole ( R 80 mm) for the connection cables to thread behind the ceiling. ● If necessar y , also open a screw hole to mount the ceiling clamping brack et to the ceiling.
17 Note: ● Do not connect an AC 24 V cable to A C 100 V power supply . The camera will be damaged. If the wrong cable is connected, the internal circuit may be damaged. Do not use the camera. Bring it to your nearest JVC service center for inspection.
18 Connection/Installation Mounting the ce iling clamping bracket to the ceiling 1 Secure the ceiling clamping bracket on the ceiling ● Install such that the A D FRONT mark B of the ceiling clamping bracket f aces the front.

20 Connection/Installation Note: ● Be sure to use an AC 24 V supply that is isolated from the prima r y power supply circui t. Using a variab le v olt age pow er supp ly will cause the camera and system to malfunction or breakdown. ● The unit is to be powered by an A C 24 V power supply .
21 Note: ● If thin cables are used, the resistance of the cables will be high and a significant v oltage drop will occur when the camera is at its maximum pow er consumption (when pan, tilt and zoom operates at the same time).
22 Connection/Installation Connect the camera to a hu b or computer using a LAN cable. 䢇 When connecting to a hub Make use of a straight cab le. 䢇 When connecting to a computer Make use of a cross cab le. Note: ● Howe v er , cross cables cannot be used with some computer models.
23 Alarm input signal Connects to sensors s uch as infrared sensors, door sensors, metal sensor s and manual switches. ● T o prevent noise from entering the inter nal circuit, supply non-volt age contact signal to the alarm input signal. ● Do not supply voltage.
24 Connection/Installation ● Ensure that there is sufficient networ k bandwidth for the data volume to be sent out by VN-V686U. Do not send multicast stream that exceeds the bandwidth. If the entire bandwidth is used by the multicast stream, control of this camer a via the net work ma y f ail.
25 When only MPEG4 im ages are distributed, the maximum n umber of distributions is determined by the preset bit rate. Whe n a distribution request that exc eeds the maximum n umber of distributions is received , this request is denied.
26 Networ k Settings Setting the IP address for VN-V686U There are two methods to se t the IP address for VN-V686U as follows . (A) Assigning an IP address to VN-V686U from the DHCP server (B) Assigni.
