11 1 Preparing and using for the first time Precondition: The bean container has been filled. T Inser t the mains plug into a pow er socket. Q T Press the On/Off button to switch the IMPRESS A on. SPRACHE DE appears on the display .
12 1 Preparing and using for the first time E Y ou can interrupt rinsing of the filter at any time . T o do this, turn the switch clockwise. T urn the switch anticlockwise to continue rinsing the filter . E The water ma y be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to health and does not affect the taste.

The most impor tant requirement for frothing milk is a milk temper ature of 4–8 °C. W e would therefore rec om- mend using a milk cooler or a vac u um milk container .
16 2 Preparation 2 Prepar ation E Y ou can stop the machine at any time while a spec ialit y coffee , steam or hot wa ter is being prep ared. Just press the Ro tar y Switc h (for a specialit y coffee) or return the swit ch to it s origi- nal position (for steam and hot w ater).
17 2 Preparation When you prepare two drinks at once , the amount of water selected for the single product is used for each cup. The preparation of two espressi and two coffees follows this same model. Example : Proceed as follo ws to pr epare t wo espressi.

22 3 Daily operation 3 Daily oper ation Daily maintenance of the mac hine and hygiene when handling milk, coffee and w ater are key to a perfect coffee result in the cup ev er y time. Y ou should therefore change the w ater daily . T Place a receptacle under the coffee spout.

26 4 Permanent settings in programming mode The harder the wat er is, the more frequently the IMPRESSA needs to be descaled. It is therefore important to set the water hardness accur ately . The wat er hardness can be adjusted on a continuous scale between 1° dH and 30° dH.

30 5 Maintenance E This chapter applies to the professional fine f oam frother and the fine foam frother . T o ensure that the fine foam frother alw ays works properly , you must rinse it with wat er after every milk preparation. Y our IMPRESS A will not prompt you to rinse the fine foam frother .
31 5 Maintenance Precondition: ESPRESSO is displa yed (example). T Remov e the milk pipe from the milk container or car ton. T Pour 250 ml of fresh water int o a receptacle and add one capful of Cappuccino Cleaner . T Immerse the milk pipe in the receptacle.
32 5 Maintenance T Dismantle the fine foam frother into its individual par ts. T Rinse all the part s of the fine foam frother thoroughly under running wat er . If there are severely dried-on milk residues, firstly immerse the individual par t s in JURA Cappuccino Cleaner and then rinse them thoroughly .
33 5 Maintenance Y our IMPRESS A no longer has to be descaled if you are using the CLARIS Blue filter cartridge. If you did not activa te the filter cartridge the first time you used the machine , you can do this now as follo ws. E Perform the ‘inser ting the filter’ operation without an y inter - ruptions.
