VM8013 1 INTRODUCTION Congratulations on your purchase of th e Jensen VM8013 Mobile Multimedia Receiver . It’s a go od idea to read all of the instructions befor e beginning the inst allation. W e recommend having yo ur Jensen VM8013 installed by a reputable installation shop.
VM8013 2 4. Place the radio in front of the dashboard ope ning so the wiring can be brought through the mo unting sleeve. Follow the wiring diagram carefully and make certain all con nections ar e secure and insulated with wire nuts or electrical ta pe .
VM8013 3 WIRING NOTE: The amplifier in this radio is only de signed for use with four speakers. Never combin e (bridge) outputs for use with two speak ers. Never ground negative spe a ker leads to ch ass is ground. Failure to wire exactly as shown may cause electrical da mage to the radio.
VM8013 4 F RONT P ANEL RELEASE The front panel rele ase button ( 4) releases the mechanism that holds the front panel to the chassis. Detaching the Front Panel T o det a ch the front pa nel, per form the following steps: 1. Press the po we r bu tt on (1) to turn the unit of f.
VM8013 5 REMOTE CONTROL The remote control will allow you to control the advanced functions of the VM8013. Operating Range The remote control sensor (19) is located near the bottom of the front panel, lef t of the LCD screen. The remo te control can operate within a distance of 3~5m.

VM8013 7 OPERATION Power Press the (power) button (1) to turn th e unit on. Pr ess and hold the power button again to turn the unit off. NOTE: LCD panels may tak e longer to respond when subjected to cold temperatures for an ext ended period of time. In addition, the visibility of the numbers on the LCD may decrease slightly .
VM8013 8 The unit automa tically saves your cha nges and exits the audio control menu after five secon ds of inactivity . Menu Operation Press and hold the VOL/SEL/MENU button (2) for more than two seconds to access the menu.
VM8013 9 Reset Button The RESET button is located be hind the front panel and can only be accessed with the front panel opened. Re setting the unit will erase the time and preset memories. It should on ly be activated upon in itial installation after all wiring is complete, or if there is a malfun ction of any of the switches on the unit.
VM8013 10 SATELLITE RADIO OPERATION Listeners can subscrib e to XM® Radio on the Web by visiting www .xmradio.com, or by calling (800) 967-2346. Cu stomers should have their Radio ID ready (see “Displayin g the Identification (ID) Code”). Customers can receive a limited number of free-t o-air channels without ac tivation.
VM8013 11 Category Search 1. T o access Category Search mode, press the DISP button ( 7) twice. The list of available categories appears on the screen. 2. VM8013 13 Automatic Store (AS) Press and hold the button (16) to se lect six strong stations and store them in the current band using the Auto S tore feature. After entering the stations into memory , the unit will automa tically stop at each station for five seconds, allowing yo u to pre view ea ch selection.
VM8013 14 DISC/MP3/WMA PLAYBACK Inserting and Eje cting a Disc Press the button (4) to f lip the front panel down. In sert a disc, label side up, into the disc slot (20). T o stop disc play and eject the disc, press the button to flip the front panel down and then press the eject button (21).
VM8013 15 Acceptable Medium Formats The following format s are available for the media used in this unit. The maximum number of characters used fo r file nam e, including the delimiter (".") and three-character extension, are indica ted in par enthe ses.
VM8013 16 Changing the Source If a disc is already in the disc sl ot but is not playing, press the SRC button (6) on the front p anel or remote co ntrol (14) to switch to th e DISC source. T o play files from an SD or US B that is already inserted, choose the CARD or USB source.
VM8013 17 Section Repeat (A-B) T o repeat a specified section of a tr ack, pe rform the following steps: 1. Press th e A->B button (16) on the remote control to select the starting point. The display will show “REPEA T A-”. 2. Press A->B when you reach the desir ed endin g po int .
VM8013 18 CONTROLLING Y OUR iP od The unit will automatically switch to iPod mode when an iPod is plugged into the iPod cable. T o retur n to the iPod s creen from any other source, press the SRC button on the front panel (6) or remote control (1 4) and select SOURCE >> iPod.
VM8013 19 SETUP MENU During disc play , press the SETUP button (4) on the r e mote control to access the SYSTEM SETUP menu. Use the , , or cursor buttons to c hoose between LANGUAGE, VIDEO, AUDIO, RA TING or MISC s etup options.
VM8013 20 CARE AND MAINTENANCE DVD Player The following guidelines will help you ex tend the life of your DVD player: 1. When cleaning the vehicle interior , do not g et water or cleaning fluids on the unit. 2. The DVD player will not operate pro perly in extreme hot/cold or under damp conditio ns.
