VM8012 1 INTRODUCTION Congratulations on your purchase of th e Jensen VM8012 Mobile Multimedia Receiver . It’s a go od idea to read all of the instructions befor e beginning the inst allation. W e recommend having yo ur Jensen VM8012 installed by a reputable installation shop.
VM8012 2 4. Place the radio in front of the dashboard ope ning so the wiring can be brought through the mo unting sleeve. Follow the wiring diagram carefully and make certain all con nections ar e secure and insulated with wire nuts or electrical ta pe.
VM8012 3 R (Red) L (White) (Y ellow) (Y ellow) IMPORT ANT! The pink parking wire MUST be connected to the switched side of the parking break circuit (the part that becomes grounded when the brake is applied).
VM8012 4 F RONT P ANEL RELEASE The front panel rele ase button ( 4) releases the mechanism that holds the front panel to the chassis. Detaching the Front Panel T o det a ch the front pa nel, perform the following step s: 1. Press the po wer button (2) to turn the unit off.
VM8012 5 REMOTE CONTROL The remote control will allow you to co ntrol the advanc ed functions of the VM8012. 1. ZOOM (DVD, VCD only) 2. TITLE (DVD only) 3. Power On/Of f 4. SETUP: Access DVD Setup 5. Menu Navigation 6. ENTER 7. PROG: Enter Programme d Playback mode.
VM8012 6 OPERATION Power Press the (power) button (2) to turn th e unit on. Press and hold the power button again to turn the unit off. NOTE: LCD panels may tak e longer to respond when subjected to cold temperatures for an ext ended period of time. In addition, the visibility of the numbers on the LCD may decrease slightly .
VM8012 7 BEEP The beep tone feature allo ws the selection of an audible beep tone to be heard each time the menu is accessed. “O N” is the default setting. T urn the rotary encoder to select “OFF”. 12 / 24 MODE This option allows selection of a 12 hour or 24 hour clock format.
VM8012 8 T UNER OPERATION Select a Band Press the BAND button (3) to change between th ree FM and two AM bands. Each band stores up to six preset st ations. Tuning Manual Tuning Press the TUNE/TRACK >>| or |< < buttons (17) to move the radio frequency num ber up or down one step.
VM8012 9 DISC/MP3/WMA PLAYBACK Insert and Eject Disc Press the button (4) to f lip the front panel down. In sert a disc, label side up, into the disc slot (18). T o stop disc play and eject the disc, press the button to flip the front panel down and then press the eject button (1).
VM8012 10 GOTO Direct Track Access Use the GOTO function to access a track directly . 1. Press th e GOTO button on the remote c ontrol. The track number will become highlighted . 2. Use the number keys on the remote contr o l to enter the track number directly .
VM8012 11 SYSTEM SETUP MENU During disc play , press the SETUP button on the remo te control to access the SYSTEM SETUP menu. Use the , , or cursor buttons to choose between SYSTEM, LANGUAGE, or VIDEO setup options. VM8012 13 USB/SD OPERATION Notes on MP3/WMA Play MP3 and WMA (Windows Media Audio) music files are digital au dio files that are compressed to a llow more files on a single CD. This unit can play MP3/WMA dir ectly from files contained on a CD-R/RW or an SD card, USB Device using the buttons on the receiver (or remote contro l) as described below .
VM8012 14 MP3 Playing Order When selected for play , files and fold ers (Folder Search, File Search or Folder Select) are accessed in the orde r in which they were written to the media. As a result, the order in which they are ex pected to be played may not match the or der in which they are actu ally played.
VM8012 15 File Playback When a disc or device (SD, USB) contain ing individual music, video and/or photo files is inserted, the following screen appears: The category , folder or file list is displayed on screen with the name of the file/folder being played di splayed on top.
