These appliances are complete, and it is rec ommended that y ou not open the a ppliances unl ess you are in stalling an auxiliar y hard drive or m emory.

15 Booting up a nd confi guring The store f ront ap pliance is a headless e-Com merce appl iance tha t is admini stered r emotely through a Web-bas ed user inter face.
16 To assign a stat ic IP address 1. After booti ng, the appli ance displays the Set IP Address menu with blank octets. Enter an IP addr ess for the appl iance by selecting a nu mber for each zero i n each oct et: 000.000.000.000 x 2. For each z ero in each octet, use the u p button to c hange the val ue from 0 to 1, 2, 3, and so on.
17 To set a default gateway 1. After enteri ng the subnet mask, advance to t he Set D efault G ateway menu. Ent er the defaul t gatew ay by selecting a numb er for each z ero in each octet: 000.000.000.000 x 2. For each z ero in each octet, use the u p button to c hange the val ue from 0 to 1, 2, 3, and so on.

19 Running the First Boot Se tup Wizard After the M ain menu appears on the LCD, you need to connect t o the storefront applianc e interface v ia a Web brow ser and ru n the onli ne First Boot Setu p W iz ard.
20 Multi-Server Managem ent Group Operations Group Oper ations enables th e server admini strator to make c hanges, such as setting the d ate and ti m e, to multiple store f ront applianc es at the same time. This is done by selecting the appl iances f rom a lis t and co mpleting tasks l ocated in the left menu.
21 Server Management Accessing th e appliance in terface The store f ront applianc e can be config ured an d manage d remot ely thr ough a W eb- based interface, which consis ts of a ser ies of HTML pages an d navig ational links.
22 Adm inistrator lo gin name The name that will appear o n the Domain s page as the admini strator. Password/C onfirm The domain a dministra tor passwor d. (Spaces are not permitt ed.) Domain di sk quota Specifies how muc h disk space this do main is allotted o n the applia nce.
23 Changing a nd rem o v ing domains You can c hange do main settings or delete a domai n after it is cr eated. To change a domain 1. In the left menu, click Domains . 2. In the Do main na me col umn, click th e domai n you want to chang e. 3. Make any ne eded changes to t he domain set tings.
24 To add a new user 1. In the left menu, click Users . 2. Click Ad d . 3. On the Add U sers pag e, configure the us er account op tions show n in the follow ing table, th en click Add . Option Description Domain Select the dom ain where the user will reside .
25 Chang ing and remo ving users You can c hange user account se ttings or r emove a user acc ount after the account is cr eated. Ho wever, you cannot remove a user accou n t whi le that us er is logged in . To change a user ac count 1. In the left menu, click Users .
26 As a server administrator , you can config ure these s ervices ev en if your current login accoun t doesn't per mit you t o use them . For ex ample, your cur rent login account may not grant y ou access to send an d receiv e mail on t he appliance .
27 Enable R ealtime Blackhole Li st (RBL) W hen se lecte d, th is optio n trie s to ma tch th e IP addre ss of the e- mail sender ag ainst the "Real time Blackhole List" (RBL) . The RB L is a l ist of al l know n computers that sen d junk e- mail.
28 To configure FTP serv ice 1. In the left menu, click FTP : • To start FTP service, click St art next to F T P. • To stop FTP service, click Stop next to F T P. 2. Configur e FTP servi ce settings as explained in th e following table, then click Ap p l y .
29 To enable Telnet and SSH service 1. In the left menu, click Telnet/SSH : • To start Tel net or Ope nSSH service, click St art . • To stop Teln et or OpenSSH servic e, click Stop . 32 To configure an alert to notify you when CPU usage has exc eeded a threshold 1. In the left menu, click Al e r ts . 2. Next to CPU, check the E-mail alert check bo x. 3. 33 To configure an alert to notify you when temperat ures hav e exceeded a threshold 1. In the left menu, click Al e r ts . 2. Next to Tem peratures, check the E-mail alert check box.
34 Publishing Web pages Admini strators a nd end user s can aut hor and publi sh W eb co ntent to their respectiv e domains or pers onal W eb sites. Fir st, create y our Web pag es locally using any HT ML auth oring tool, and then tr ansfer the files to th e appropriate subdirect ory on the appliance.
35 Directory paths for site users For site us ers, files ar e trans f erred to your personal director y by default. The directory path is: /home/domain/<domain name>/users/<username>/web wher e <domain name> is the fully qualified do main na me, and <user name> is your l ogin name .
36 Rebooting a nd shutti ng down If you'r e experi encing consi stent problems w ith a particular W eb ser vice, rebooti ng the ap pliance may solve the pr oblem. The r eboot pr ocess can take several minutes to complet e. To reboot the appliance 1.
37 Control ke y s Use thes e keys to navig ate and selec t options from the menu system displ ayed on the LCD. The top and bottom arrow keys move throug h the listed menus and options. The right ar row ke y selects the hi ghlighted option . The left arr o w key returns y ou to the pr evious menu.
38 Main menu The Main menu is the access point for all o f the featur es avail able t h roug h the front pan el consol e. To v ie w the M ain men u, hold down any of the a rrow keys for three seconds.
39 To reset the root password 1. From the De faults menu, selec t Root passw ord... . 2. To restore the default root user passw ord, select Default . 3. Or, to gener ate a new , unique six- character passw ord, select Random . Continue sel ecting Random unti l you f ind a passw ord you l ike.
