12 Displa ying a computer sour ce image Remove the lens cap. To g g l e t h e Po w e r switch on the side of the pr ojector to the On position. The LED fla shes gr een a nd the fa ns start t o run. When the lamp comes on, the start up s creen displays and the LED is steady gr een.

14 Using the pr ojector with Windo ws 98 for the first time The first time you connect a computer running W i ndows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes t he pr ojector as “new har dwar e” and th e Add Ne w H a rd wa re W iz ard ap p e ar s .

16 Connecting a video de vice Y o u can connect video devices such as VCRs, DVD players, camcorders, digital cameras, video g ame conso les, HDTV r eceive rs, and TV tuners to t he proj ector . Ther e is also an audio in put via the r ed an d white A/ V connec- tors .

18 VESA connection If your video devic e has a 15-pin VGA output, plug one end of th e included computer cable into the VGA connector on yo ur video sour ce. Th is connec- tor may be lab eled “ T o Mon itor” on the v ideo sour ce. Plug the computer cable i nto the Computer In co nnect or on the pr ojector .

20 Adjust the z oom and fo cus. If the image is not sq uare, a djust th e keystone us ing the b uttons on the key- pad. Pr ess the top Key s t o n e butt on to reduce the upper part of the i mage, and press the b ottom Ke y s t o n e butt on to r educe th e lowe r par t.
21 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The projector automati cally display s a black screen after n o activ e source is detected for 3 0 minutes. Th is black s creen helps pr eserv e the life of the pr o- jector . The image return s when an active source is det ected or a keypad but- ton is press ed.

33 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected properly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize the i mage using t he onscr een menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the men us, see page 35. • Adjus t the Ke ysto ne, C ontra st, or Bri ght ness in the Pict ure menu (page 36).

38 Advanced menu Sharpness : (video sources only) changes the clarity of the edges of a video image. Select a sharpne ss sett ing. Color S pace : Thi s option appl ies to comp uter and componen t video sour ces. It al lows yo u to select a colo r s pace th at h as bee n spec ifically tuned for the input si gnal.

42 Maintenance Cleaning th e Lens 1 Apply a non -abrasiv e camer a lens cleaner to a soft, dr y cloth . • A void using an excessiv e amoun t of cleaner , and don’t apply the cleaner dir ectly to the lens. Abrasiv e cleaners, solven ts or other harsh chemic als might sc ratch the len s.

44 Cleaning the Lamp Ho using Screens In dirty or dusty envir onment s, the two dust filter s creens in the lamp h ous- ing can become clogged, causing high temperatures and prematur e lamp failur e. Routin e maint enance to rem ove dus t from the scr eens lowers the lamp operating temperature and pr olongs lamp life.
