This machine is built f or the greatest efficiency and rapid mowing primarily of large areas. Controls in one place and a hydrostatic transmission regulated b y steering controls also contr ib ute to the machine’ s performance.

Ne v er drive o ver f oreign objects. • Only use the machine in da ylight or in other well-lit conditions. K eep the machine a saf e distance from holes or other irregularities in the ground.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS English- 9 Driving on Slopes Driving on slopes is one of the operations where the risk is greatest that the driver will lose control or the machine will tip ov er , which can result in serious injur y or death. All slopes require e xtra caution.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS English- 11 Maintenance • Stop the engine. Pre v ent the engine from star ting by remo ving the spar k plug cables from the spark plugs or by removing the ignition ke y before making any adjustments or perf orming maintenance. • Ne v er fill the fuel tank indoors.

CONTROLS English- 15 Contr ols This operator’ s manual describes the Husqvarna Zero T ur n Rider . The r ider is fitted with a Briggs and Stratton or K ohler f our- stroke engine de veloping 15-18 horse po wer . T ransmission from the engine is made via two belt-driven h ydraulic gears one for each driv e wheel.
CONTROLS 16 -English 1. Motion Control Le vers The machine’ s speed and direction are continuously variab le using the two steering controls. The steering controls can be moved f orward or bac kward about a neutral position. Fur ther more, there is a neutral position, which is loc ked if the steering controls are mov ed outward.
CONTROLS English- 17 2. Seat adjustment knobs The seat can be adjusted lengthwa ys. When making adjustments, loosen the f our knobs under the seat pan, after which the seat can be mov ed backward or f orward. Do not f orget to tighten the knobs. 3. Fuses The fuses are located in the right front cor ner of the engine compar tment.
CONTROLS 18 -English 4. By pass linkages When pushing or pulling the mower , be sure to engage the IZT (Integraded Zeroturn T ransaxle) b ypass linkages. The IZT bypass linkages are located on the rear of the frame, below the rear engine guard. • Raise the deck into the highest cutting position.
CONTROLS English- 19 5. Refueling The machine has one fuel tank, just behind the seat. The tank take 3 gallons (11.4 liters). The engine will run on a minimum of 85-octane unleaded gasoline (no oil mix). Environmentally adapted alkylate gasoline can be used beneficially .
CONTROLS 20 -English 7. Ignition Switch The ignition ke y is placed on the dr iv er’ s panel and is used to star t and stop the engine. 8. Choke Control The choke mode is used f or cold star ts in order to provide the engine with a richer fuel mixture.
CONTROLS English- 21 10. Hour Meter The hour meter displa ys the total operating time. It will flash CHG OIL (Change Oil) at 50 hour inter v als. The flash duration is one hour bef ore and one hour after the inter v al. The CHG OIL icon will come on and shut off automatically .
CONTROLS 22 -English 12. Cutting height pedal The deck cutting height is obtained b y pressing the f oot pedal f orward to lift the deck. T o lower the dec k, you apply pressure to the top side of the f oot pedal and allow it to pivot while allo wing the lift ar m to rotate to the rear of the unit.
OPERATION English- 23 Operation Read “Saf ety Instructions” on page 7 and f ollowing pages , if y ou are unf amiliar with the machine. T raining Zero turn mowers are f ar more manue verab le than typical r iding mow ers due to their unique steering capabilities.
OPERATION 24 -English Before Starting • Read the sections Saf ety Instructions and Controls bef ore star ting the machine. • P erform the daily maintenance before star ting (see Maintenance Schedule in the Maintenance section). • Check that there is sufficient fuel in the fuel tank.
OPERATION English- 25 4. Disengage the mower b lades by depressing the blade s witch. 5. Mov e the steer ing controls outward to the lock ed (outer) neutral position. 6. Mov e the throttle to the middle position. 7. If the engine is cold, the throttle control should be pushed f orward to its chok e position.
OPERATION 26 -English 8. Press in and turn the ignition key to the star t position. 9. When the engine star ts, immediately release the ignition ke y back to the run position. 10. Set the desired engine speed with the throttle. Allow the engine to run at a moderate speed, ”half throttle”, f or 3-5 minutes bef ore loading it too heavily .
OPERATION English- 27 T o star t an engine with a weak battery If your battery is too weak to star t the engine, it should be recharged. (See “Batter y” on page 33).
OPERATION 28 -English Running 1. Release the parking brake b y moving the le v er downw ard. Y our mower is equipped with an operator presence system. When the engine is running, any attempt by the oper ator to leav e the seat without first setting the parking brake will shut off the engine .
OPERATION English- 29 T urning on the spot can be achiev ed by moving one control bac kward (behind the neutral position) and carefully moving the other steering control forw ard from its neutral position.
OPERATION 30 -English Mowing Tips • Obser v e and flag rocks and other fix ed objects to av oid collisions. • Begin with a high cutting height and reduce it until the desired mowing result is attained. The av erage lawn should be cut to 2 1/2" (64 mm) during the cool season and over 3" (76 mm) during the hot months.
OPERATION English- 31 Stopping the Engine Allow the engine to idle a minute in order to attain normal operating temperature before stopping it, if it has been worked hard. Av oid idling the engine f or longer periods, as there is a risk of the spar k plugs f ouling.

MAINTENANCE English- 33 Maintenance Maintenance Schedule The f ollowing is a list of maintenance procedures that m ust be perf ormed on the machine. For those points not described in this manual, visit an authorized ser vice workshop .
MAINTENANCE 34 -English 1) First change after 5-8 hours. When operating with a hea vy load or at high ambient temperatures, replace ev ery 50 hours. 2) In dusty conditions, cleaning and replacement are required more often. 3) For daily use, the machine should be lubricated twice weekly .
MAINTENANCE English- 35 Battery Y our mower is equipped with a maintenance free batter y and does not need servicing. Howe ver , periodic charging of the batter y with an automotive type batter y charger will e xtend its life . • K eep batter y and ter minals clean.
MAINTENANCE 36 -English Ignition System The engine is equipped with an electronic ignition system. Only the spark plug requires maintenance. F or recommended spark plug, see T echnical Data. 1. Remov e the ignition cable boot and clean around the spark plug.
MAINTENANCE English- 37 Checking the Saf ety System The machine is equipped with a saf ety system that pre v ents star ting or driving under the f ollowing conditions . The engine can only be star ted when: 1. The mower dec k is disengaged. 2. The steering controls are in the outer , lock ed neutral position.
MAINTENANCE 38 -English Checking the Engine's Cooling Air Intake Check that the engine’ s cooling air intake is free from leav es, grass , and dir t. If the cooling air intake is clogged, engine cooling deteriorates, which can lead to engine damage.
MAINTENANCE English- 39 Replacing the Air Filter If the engine seems weak or runs unev enly , the air filter ma y be clogged. If run with a dir ty air filter , the spark plug can become fouled. F or this reason, it is impor tant to replace the air filter regularly (see the heading Maintenance Schedule f or the proper ser vice interval).
MAINTENANCE 40 -English If the element is to be re-used, tap it against a fix ed surf ace to remov e dust. 4. Check the air cleaner base . Make sure it is secured and not bent or damaged. Also check the air filter co v er f or damage or improper fit.
MAINTENANCE English- 41 Replacing the Fuel Filter Replace the line-mounted fuel filter e v er y 100 hours (once per season) or more regularly if it is clogged. Replace the filter as f ollows: 1. Mov e the hose clamps awa y from the filter . Use flat-nosed pliers.
MAINTENANCE 42 -English Checking the V -belts Deck belt V -belts are not adjustable. Replace belts if they begin to slip from wear . Deck belt remo val • P ar k on a le vel surf ace.
MAINTENANCE English- 43 Deck belt installation NO TE: F or ease in installing the dec k belt, ref er to the routing decal on bottom of seat. • Wrap the dec k belt around the electric clutch pulley that is located on the engine shaft. • Route the belt f orward betw een the EZT (E-Series Zerotur n T ransaxles) and up onto the deck.
MAINTENANCE 44 -English EZT belt T o replace EZT (E-Series Zeroturn T ransaxle) belt P ar k the mow er on a le v el surf ace. Engage the parking brake .
MAINTENANCE English- 45 Checking the Blades In order to attain the best mowing eff ect, it is impor tant that the blades are w ell shar pened and not damaged. Bent or crac ked b lades or blades with large nicks should be replaced. Check the b lade mounts.
MAINTENANCE 46 -English • Install new or re-sharpened blade with stamped "GRASS SIDE" f acing tow ards ground/gr ass (down) or “THIS SIDE UP” f acing deck and cutter housing. • Install and tighten blade bolt securely . T orque blade bolt to 27-35 ft/lb (35-45 Nm).
MAINTENANCE English- 47 T o level deck Adjust the deck while the mo wer is on a le vel surf ace. Make sure the tires are inflated to the correct pressure. See “T echnical Data” on page 62. If tires are under or ov er inflated, you can not properly adjust your dec k.
MAINTENANCE 48 -English Front-to-bac k adjustment T o obtain the best cutting perf ormance, the deck should be adjusted so the front tip of the blades are appro ximately 1/8" (3.2 mm) to 1/4" (6.5 mm) lower than the rear tip . If the front tip is higher , this will create a poor quality of cut.
MAINTENANCE English- 49 T o adjust anti-scalp rollers Only some 42” deck hav e anti-scalp rollers. Anti-scalp rollers are properly adjusted when they are just slightly off of the g round when the deck is at the desired cutting height in the operating position.
MAINTENANCE 50 -English Cleaning and W ashing Regular cleaning and washing, especially under the mower dec k, will increase the machine’ s lifespan. Make it a habit to clean the machine directly after use (after it is cooled), bef ore the dir t sticks .
LUBRICATION English- 51 Lubrication Lubrication Schedule General Remov e the ignition key to pre vent unintentional mo v ements during lubr ication. When lubricating with an oil can, it must be filled with engine oil. When lubricating with grease, unless otherwise stated, use a high gr ade molybdenum disulfide grease .
LUBRICATION 52 -English Lubricating the Cables If possible , grease both ends of the cab les and move the controls to end stop positions when lubricating. Refit the rubber cov ers on the cab les after lubrication. Cables with sheaths will bind if the y are not lubricated regular ly .
LUBRICATION English- 53 1. Place the machine on a flat surf ace. 2. Remov e the yellow cap and fit a hose to the drain v alv e. 3. Place a container under the engine where the hose from the oil drain v alv e e xits. 4. Remov e the dipstick and open the drain valv e by turning and pulling out the black slee v e.
LUBRICATION 54 -English Checking the oil le vel Check the oil le vel in the engine when the machine is standing le v el and the engine is stopped. Remov e the dipstick, wipe it clean, and then replace it. The dipstick should be scre wed into place. T ake the dipstic k out again and read the oil le v el.
LUBRICATION English- 55 2. Engine oil (Kohler) Changing the engine oil The engine oil should be changed f or the first time after 5-8 hours of operation. Thereafter , it should be changed e v er y 50 hours . 1. Place the machine on a flat surf ace. 2.
LUBRICATION 56 -English Checking the oil le vel Check the oil le vel in the engine when the machine is standing le v el and the engine is stopped. Pull up the dipstick, wipe it clean and then replace it. The dipstick m ust be fully pushed down. T ake the dipstic k out again and read the oil lev el.
TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE English- 57 T roub le Shooting Guide Problem Cause The engine will not start. • The blade switch is engaged. • The steering controls are not locked in the neutral position. • The driver is not sitting in the driver’s seat.

STORAGE 60 -English Storage Winter Storage At the end of the mowing season, the machine should be readied f or storage (or if it will not be in use f or longer than 30 da ys). Fuel allowed to stand f or long periods of time (30 days or more) can leav e sticky residues that can f oul the carburetor and disrupt engine function.
