English- 16 CONTROLS Contr ols This operator’ s manual describes the Husqv ar na Zero T ur n Rider . The rider is fitted with a Kaw asaki four-strok e V -T win engine de v eloping 25 horse pow er . T ransmission from the engine is made via two belt-driven h ydrostat transaxles, which in turn drive a h ydraulic motor for each driv e wheel.
English- 17 CONTROLS 1. Motion Control Le vers The machine’ s speed and direction are continuously v ar iable using the two steering controls. The steering controls can be mov ed f orward or bac kward about a neutral position. Fur ther more, there is a neutral position, which is lock ed if the steer ing controls are mov ed outward.
English- 18 CONTROLS 2. Hour Meter The hour meter displa ys the total operating time. It will flash CHG OIL (Change Oil) at 50 hour inter vals . The flash duration is one hour bef ore and one hour after the inter val. The CHG OIL icon will come on and shut off automatically .
English- 19 CONTROLS 5. Blade switch In order to engage the mow er deck, pull the knob out; the mower b lades are disengaged when the knob is depressed. 6. Ignition Switch The ignition ke y is placed on the dr iver’ s panel and is used to star t and stop the engine.
English- 20 CONTROLS 8. Seat Locking De vice Under the rear par t of the seat is a locking de vice that locks the seat into its f olded position. The seat has a linked fixture at the front edge and can be f olded f orward when the locking de vice is pushed.
English- 21 CONTROLS 10. Fuel Shut Off V alve The fuel shut off v alve is located at the right rear of the seat. The valv e has three positions; right tank, left tank and center is the off position. 11. Seat Adjustment Lever The seat can be adjusted lengthwa ys.
English- 22 CONTROLS 13. Throttle Control The throttle control regulates the engine speed and thereby the r ate of rotation of the blades , assuming the blade s witch is pulled out, see Engaging the Mow er Deck. In order to increase or decrease the engine speed, the control is mov ed downward or upward respectiv ely .
English- 23 CONTROLS Cutting height pedal On some models there is a deck assist lift pedal to aid in the lifting of the deck. Pump release valves Pump release v alves are located at the pumps. They are used to release the system so the machine ma y be mov ed by hand when not running.
English- 24 OPERATION Operation Read "Saf ety Instructions" section and follo wing pages, if y ou are unfamiliar with the machine . T raining Zero turn mowers are f ar more maneuv erab le than typical riding mowers due to their unique steering capabilities.
English- 25 OPERATION Before Starting • Read the sections "Saf ety Instructions" and "Controls" bef ore star ting the machine. • P erform the daily maintenance bef ore star tin"g (see Maintenance Schedule in the Maintenance" section).
English- 26 OPERATION 4. Disengage the mow er blades b y depressing the blade s witch. 5. Mov e the steer ing controls outward to the lock ed (outer) neutral position.
English- 27 OPERATION 7. If the engine is cold, the choke control should be pulled out to its e xtents. 8. Open the fuel v alve f or the selected fuel tank.
English- 28 OPERATION 10. When the engine star ts, immediately release the ignition ke y back to the run position. 11. Press the choke control in g radually when the engine has star ted.
English- 29 OPERATION T o star t an engine with a weak battery If your battery is too weak to star t the engine, it should be recharged. (See "Batter y" in the "Maintenance" section).
English- 30 OPERATION Running 1. Release the parking brake b y moving the le v er f orward. Y our mower is equipped with an operator presence system. When the engine is running, any attempt by the oper ator to leav e the seat without first setting the park brake will shut off the engine .
English- 31 OPERATION In order , for e xample, to turn r ight while moving f orward, mov e the r ight control tow ards the neutral position. The rotation of the right wheel is reduced and the machine turns to the r ight.
English- 32 OPERATION Mowing Tips • Obser ve and flag roc ks and other fixed objects to av oid collisions. • Begin with a high cutting height and reduce it until the desired mowing result is attained. The av erage lawn should be cut to 2 1/2" (64 mm) during the cool season and ov er 3" (76 mm) during the hot months.
English- 33 OPERATION Stopping the Engine Allow the engine to idle a min ute in order to attain normal operating temperature bef ore stopping it, if it has been worked hard. Av oid idling the engine f or longer periods, as there is a risk of the spar k plugs f ouling.
English- 34 OPERATION Moving b y Hand In order f or the machine to be mov ed with the engine turned off, the pump release v alv es on both h ydraulic pumps must be opened 1/4-1/2 turn.
English- 35 MAINTENANCE Maintenance Maintenance Schedule The f ollowing is a list of maintenance procedures that m ust be perf ormed on the machine. F or those points not described in this manual, visit an authorized ser vice workshop.
English- 36 MAINTENANCE 1) First change after 8 hours. When oper ating with a heavy load or at high ambient temperatures , replace e very 50 hours. 2) In dusty conditions, cleaning and replacement are required more often. 3) For daily use, the machine should be lubricated twice weekly .
English- 37 MAINTENANCE Battery Y our mower is equipped with a maintenance free batter y and does not need ser vicing. How e v er , periodic charging of the batter y with an automotiv e type batter y charger will e xtend its lif e. • K eep batter y and ter minals clean.

English- 39 MAINTENANCE Checking the Saf ety System The machine is equipped with a saf ety system that pre v ents star ting or dr iving under the f ollowing conditions . The engine can only be star ted when: 1. The mow er deck is disengaged. 2. The steering controls are in the outer , lock ed neutral position.

English- 41 MAINTENANCE Checking the Engine's Cooling Air Intake Check that the engine’ s cooling air intake is free from leav es, grass , and dir t. If the cooling air intake is clogged, engine cooling deteriorates, which can lead to engine damage.
English- 42 MAINTENANCE Cyclon air filter maintenance If the engine seems weak or runs une venly , the air filter ma y be clogged. If running with a dir ty air filter , the spar k plugs can become f ouled.
English- 43 MAINTENANCE Filter replacement 1. Remov e the end cover . 2. Remov e the main filter (outer filter) by pulling it out by hand. 3. Remov e the inner filter by pulling it out by hand. 4. Clean inside of the filter housing. Wipe dr y only .
English- 44 MAINTENANCE Replacing the Fuel Filter Replace the line-mounted fuel filter e v er y 100 hours (once per season) or more often if it becomes clogged. Replace the filter as f ollows: 1. Mov e the hose clamps awa y from the filter . Use flat-nosed pliers.
English- 45 MAINTENANCE Checking Tire Pressures All f our tires should hav e a pressure of 15 psi / 103 kP a / 1 bar . Checking the P arking Brake Visually check that no damage is f ound on the le v er , links, or s witch belonging to the parking brake .
English- 46 MAINTENANCE Pump belt Check belt e very 100 hours for e xcessive wear . T o replace belt. Relie v e tension on the deck belt and remov e deck belt from clutch. See “Deck belt” in “Maintenance Section”. Loosen bolt on the clutch tie down and rotate out of the wa y .

English- 48 MAINTENANCE Adjusting the Mower Dec k Leveling 1. P osition the mower on a le vel, pref erably concrete, surf ace. 2. Check the pressure in all f our tires. See “T echnical Data”. 3. Raise the mow er on lengths of 2" x 4" placed edgewise under the cutting dec k from front to rear (see diagram).
English- 49 MAINTENANCE T o adjust anti-scalp rollers Anti-scalp rollers are properly adjusted when they are just slightly off of the g round when the deck is at the desired cutting height in the operating position. Anti-scalp rollers then keep the dec k in the proper position to help pre v ent scalping in most terrain conditions .
English- 50 MAINTENANCE Cleaning and Washing Regular cleaning and washing, especially under the mow er deck, will increase the machine’ s lifespan. Make it a habit to clean the machine directly after use (after it is cooled), bef ore the dir t sticks.
English- 51 LUBRICATION Lubrication Lubrication Schedule General Remov e the ignition key to pre vent unintentional mo v ements during lubr ication. When lubricating with an oil can, it must be filled with engine oil. When lubricating with grease, unless otherwise stated, use a high gr ade molybdenum disulfide grease .
English- 52 LUBRICATION Lubricating the Cables If possible , grease both ends of the cables and mov e the controls to end stop positions when lubr icating. Refit the rubber cov ers on the cables after lubrication. Cables with sheaths will bind if they are not lubricated regular ly .
English- 53 LUBRICATION 3. Engine Oil Changing the Engine Oil The engine oil shall be changed f or the first time after 8 hours of operation. Thereafter , it should be changed e v er y 100 hours. 1. Place the machine on a flat surf ace. 2. Place a container under the engine drain plug.
English- 54 LUBRICATION The oil le v el shall lie between the markings on the dipstick. If the lev el is approaching the ”ADD” mar k, top up the oil to the ”FULL ” mark on the dipstick. Ne v er fill abov e the ”FULL ” mar k. The oil is filled through the hole f or the dipstick.
English- 55 LUBRICATION 6. Front Wheel Bearings Lubricate with a grease gun, one zerk f or each set of wheel bearings, until the grease is f orced out. Use only good quality molybdenum disulphide grease . Grease from well-kno wn brand names (petrochemical companies, etc.

English- 58 LUBRICATION 14. Changing the Oil Filter 1. Drain the engine oil in accordance with the work description under the heading Engine Oil/Change Engine Oil. 2. Remov e the oil filter . If necessar y , use a filter remov er . 3. Wipe new , clean engine oil onto the seal f or the new filter .
English- 59 TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE T roub le Shooting Guide Problem Cause The engine will not start. • The blade switch is engaged. • The steering controls are not locked in the neutral position. • The driver is not sitting in the driver’s seat.

English- 61 STORAGE Storage Winter Storage At the end of the mowing season, the machine should be readied f or storage (or if it will not be in use f or longer than 30 da ys). Fuel allow ed to stand f or long periods of time (30 days or more) can leav e sticky residues that can plug the carburetor and disrupt engine function.
