English – 5 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Steps bef ore using a ne w power cutter • Please read the operator’ s manual carefully . • Check the cutting b lade’ s mounting, see the chapter ”Assembly”. • Star t the engine and check the idling setting, see instructions under the heading Maintenance.

10 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Mov e the blade slo wly forw ards and backwards to achie v e a small contact area between the b lade and the mater ial to be cut. This reduces the temperature of the blade and ensures eff ective cutting. • F eed down the machine in line with the blade .
English – 11 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Pinching/r otation If the cut is pressed together this can lead to jamming. The machine can be pulled down suddenly with a v er y pow erful jerk. 12 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Ensure the blade it not cr acked or damaged in an y other wa y . T est the abrasiv e disc by hanging it on y our finger and tapping it lightly with a screwdriv er or the like. If the disc does not produce a resonant, ringing sound it is damaged.
English – 13 ASSEMBL Y Chec king the drive axle and flange washers Check that the threads on the driv e shaft are undamaged. Check that the contact surf aces on the blade and the flange washers are undamaged, of the correct dimension, clean, and that they run properly on the drive axle.
14 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a two-strok e engine and must alwa ys been run using a mixture of gasoline and two-strok e engine oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
English – 15 FUEL HANDLING Disconnection function f or OilGuard Machines fitted with OilGuard hav e a built-in system f or identifying incorrect fuel mixtures. Once the machine is running, a detector reads the fuel quality which takes about ten seconds.
16 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Starting and stopping Starting a cold engine Ignition: Slide the ignition s witch to the left. Choke: Pull the choke control fully out. Start throttle lock: Press in the throttle trigger lock, throttle control and then the star t throttle lock (A).
English – 17 MAINTENANCE T ensioning the drive belt • When the machine is equipped with a friction retarder , a scraping sound can be heard from the bearing housing when the blade is turned by hand. This is quite nor mal. Please contact an accredited Husqvarna workshop if you hav e any questions .
18 – English MAINTENANCE Adjusting the idle speed Adjust the idle speed using the T scre w . When an adjustment is necessar y , first tur n the scre w clockwise until the b lade star ts to rotate. Now turn the screw anti-clockwise until the blade stops rotating.
English – 19 MAINTENANCE Starter Changing a br oken or worn starter cord • Loosen the screws that hold the starter against the crankcase and remov e the star ter . • Pull the cord out about 30 cm and lift it into the cut-out in the peripher y of the star ter pulley .
20 – English MAINTENANCE • Remov e the recoil spring by turning the star ter over and loosen the hooks, with the help of a scre wdriver . The hooks hold the return spr ing assembly on the starter . • Lubricate the recoil spr ing with light oil. Fit the pulley and tension the recoil spring.
