6 ASSEMBL Y CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were ov er infl ated at the f actor y f or shipping pur poses. Correct tire pressure is impor tant f or best cutting performance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown on tires. CHECK DECK LEVELNESS F or best cutting results, mower housing should be properly le veled.

10 OPERA TION T O ADJUST MO WER CUT TING HEIGHT (See Fig. 8) The po si tion of the at tach ment lift le ver (A) de ter mines the cut ting height. • Put attachment lift lev er in desired cutting height slot. The cutting height range is ap prox i mate ly 1" to 4".

12 CA UTION: Alcohol b lended fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can attract moisture which leads to sep a ra tion and for ma tion of acids during storage. Acidic gas can dama g e the fuel system of an engine while in storage. T o av oid engine problems, the fuel system should be emptied before stor age of 30 days or longer .

16 MAINTENANCE V- B E LT S Check V -belts f or deter ioration and wear after 100 hours of operation and replace if necessary . The belts are not ad just able . Re place belts if they begin to slip from w ear . TRANSAXLE COOLING The transmission f an and cooling fi ns should be kept clean to assure proper cooling.
17 MAINTENANCE MUFFLER Inspect and replace corroded muffl er and spark arrester (if equipped) as it could create a fi re hazard and/or dam- age. SP ARK PLUGS Replace spark plugs at the beginning of each mowing season or after e very 100 hours of operation, whichev er occurs fi rst.
18 T O INST ALL MO WER (See Figs. 18-22) Be sure tractor is on le vel surf ace and engage park ing brak e. • Lower attachment lift le ver to it's lo west position. CA UTION: Lift le ver is spring loaded. Have a tight grip on lift le ver , lower it slowl y and engage in lowest position.
19 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS • T urn steer ing wheel to position wheels straight f or- war d. • A TT A CH FRONT LINK (E) - Work from left side of trac- tor . Inser t rod end of link assembly through front hole in tractor front suspension brac ket (F) and secure with retainer spring (G) through hole in link located behind the brac ket.

NO TE: As desired, you can raise the lo w side of mower or low er the high side.
21 02548 B B NO TE: Each full tur n of the adjustment nut will change mower height about 1/8". • Recheck measurements, adjust if necessary until front tip of blade is 1/8" to 1/2" lo wer than the rear tip . • Hold adjustment nut in position with wrench and tighten jam nut securely against adjustment nut.
