Adj u s t the dr i ver’ s se at- b ac k to a comf ort able, upr ight posit ion, lea ving ample spa ce bet ween your chest and the airbag cover in the center of t h e steering w heel . Passengers w ith adjust able seat- back s should also adj ust t heir sea t- back t o a comf ort able, upright posit ion.
A d jus t the dri ver’s head restrain t so th e cen ter of the ba c k of yo u r h ead rest s against t he center of t he restraint. R eclining a sea t-ba ck so t hat t he shoulder par t of t he belt no longer rest s against the occupant’s chest reduc es t he prot ect ive c apabilit y of the belt .
Posit ion th e lap pa rt of t he belt as low a s possible acr oss your hips, t hen pull up on t he shoulder par t of t he belt so t he lap pa rt f its snugly. T his le ts y our st rong pelv ic bones tak e the f or c e of a cra s h an d red uc e s t he chance of int erna l injuries.
Th i s c o u l d c a u s e very s erio us inj uri es in a crash. If a seat belt does n ot seem to work proper ly, it ma y not prot ect t he occupant in a crash. Using a seat belt t hat is not wor king proper ly can res ult in se rious injur y or dea th.
If you a re pre gnant , the be st wa y t o prot ect your self a nd your unbor n child w hen driv ing or riding in a vehi cle is t o always wear a seat b el t, and keep t h e lap part of the belt as low a s possible acr oss t he hips.
Carryin g hard o r sh arp object s on y our lap, or driv ing wit h a pipe o r other sharp object in your mout h, ca n result in inj uries if your f ront air bag inf lat es.

CONT INUED T he passe nger’s a dvanced f ront airbag system has weig ht sensors under t he sea t. A lt hough Honda does not e ncourage ca rrying a n inf a nt or sma ll child in f ront , if t he sens.
If you ever h ave a mod erate to severe side impact, sensors w i ll detect ra p id acceleration and si gnal t he cont rol unit t o insta ntly inf lat e either the d river’s or the p asseng er’s si de airbag . Only one air bag w ill deploy during a side impa ct.
Y our v ehicle ha s a side air bag cut of f system designed primarily t o p rotect a c hild riding in th e f ront pa ssenger’ s seat . A lth ough Honda does not encour age childre n to r ide in f r ont, if t he posit ion sensors det ect a child ha s lea ned into t he side air bag’s deployme nt pa th, t he a irbag w ill shut o ff.
If t he impact is on the passenge r’s side, t he passe nger’s side curt ain airb ag will inf late even i f t h ere are no occupant s on t hat s ide of t he vehicle. T o get t he bes t pr otec tion f rom t he side cur ta in airba gs, occupant s shoul d wear their seat belts and sit upright a nd well ba ck in t heir se at s.

Be aware that ob jec ts p l aced on t h e f r ont se at ca n cause t he indica tor t o come on . If no w eight is det ect ed on t he f r ont seat, t h e ai rbag wi ll b e autom atical ly shut of f .
Even if your airb ags do not i nf l ate, yo ur deal er should inspec t t he driv er’s sea t posit ion sensor , the f ront passenge r’s weight s ensors, t he f ront sea t belt tensioners, a n d all seat be lts a nd the ir anchor s worn during a cr ash t o make s ure t hey ar e opera ting proper ly.
− − − Child ren d epend on adults to protect them. However, desp ite their best int entions, m any adult s do not know how t o prote ct child passengers. If you h ave child ren, o r ever need to driv e wit h a c hild in your v ehicle, be sure t o rea d this sect ion.

− Many parents say they pref er t o put an inf ant or a sma ll child in t he f r ont passenge r seat s o they ca n wat ch t he child, or beca use t he child r equires at t ention.
− If they do, they could be ver y ser iously injur ed in a crash. If you are no t wearing a sea t be lt in a cr ash, y ou could be thrown f orward an d crush t h e child aga inst t he dashboa rd or a seat-b ack. If you are weari ng a sea t be lt, t he child c an be t orn f rom you r arm s and be s eri o us ly hurt or killed.
W hen proper ly inst alled, a r ear- f a ci ng chil d seat ma y p revent t he driv er or a f ront pa ssenger f rom mo vi ng their seat as f ar back as recomm ended , o r f rom l ocki ng t hei r seat-b ack in the d esi red pos iti on .
In any of t hese situat ions, we st rongly rec ommend tha t you inst all t he child sea t dire ctly behind t he f ront passenger’s seat, move the seat as f ar f orward as n eed ed , and leave it unoccupied. O r, you may wish t o get a s maller r ear -f a cing child sea t.
In sea ting pos itions a nd vehic les not equipped w ith L A T CH , a L A T CH- compat ible c hild seat c an be inst alle d using a sea t be lt. What ever type of seat you cho ose, t o prov ide proper.
A child seat secur ed with a seat belt should be inst alled a s f ir mly as possi ble. However, it does no t need t o be ‘‘roc k solid.’’ Some side-t o-side moveme nt ca n be expe cted a nd should not reduc e the child se at ’s ef f ectiveness.
T o inst all a L A T CH -compat ible child seat : Plac e the child se at on t he ve hicle se at, th en attach th e sea t to the lo wer an cho rs acco rdi ng t o the child sea t mak er’s inst ruct ions. Some L A T CH- compat ible seat s have a rig id -t y pe con ne ctor as shown a bove.
Ot her L A T CH -compat ible sea ts ha ve a f lex ible-t ype connect or a s show n abo ve. What ever type you have, f oll ow th e ch i l d se at mak e r’ s in stru cti on s f or adj usting or t ightening t he f it .
When not using the L A T CH syst em, all chi ld seats must be secured t o the ve hicle wit h t he lap pa rt of a lap/ shoulder belt . Wi th the ch i l d se at in the de si re d sea ting posit ion, r o.
A f t er conf ir ming tha t t he belt is locke d, grab the shoulder pa rt of the belt near the buckle, and pul l up to rem ove any s lac k f ro m t he lap pa rt of t he belt . R emembe r, if th e lap par t of th e be l t is no t ti gh t, t he child sea t will not be secur e.
T ig hten the s trap acc ord i ng t o the seat ma ker’s inst ruct ions. I f the teth e r str ap is too l o n g an d cannot be t ighte ned f ir mly, f ind a rou te whe re the strap can be t ightened secur ely. Lif t the an ch o r co ver , the n attac h th e tethe r s trap ho ok to the anc ho r, makin g sure the s trap is not tw isted.
T o det ermine if a lap/shoulde r belt proper ly f its a c hild, hav e th e child put on the seat be lt, t hen ask yourself : Does th e child sit a ll the wa y back agai ns t the seat? Do t he child.
Does t he shoulder belt cross b etw e en the ch i l d ’ s ne c k and ar m ? Is t he lap pa rt of t he belt as low a s possible, t ouching t he child’s th i g h s ? W ill the child be a ble t o sta.
Of c ourse, childr en va ry w idely. A nd while age may be one indic at or of when a chi ld can saf ely r i de i n f ron t, t here a re ot her import ant f act ors you should conside r. Physica lly, a child must be lar ge enough f or t he lap/shoulde r belt t o proper ly f it ( see pa ges and ).
Dev ices int ended t o improv e a c hild’s comf ort or repos ition t he shoulde r par t of a sea t belt can make t he belt less ef f ective a nd increa se the chance of se rious injur y in a cr ash. T his c ould result in serious neck injuries during a crash.

T his show s the t emperat ure of t he engine’ s coolant . During norma l opera tion, t he rea ding should be in t he middle of t he ga uge. In sev ere driv ing conditions, suc h as v ery hot we athe r or a long per iod of uphill driv ing, the rea ding may r each near the red mark.

P u s h the le ve r u p to lo ck the st eering w heel in t hat pos ition. Make sure you have secure l y locked t he st eerin g wheel in pl ace by t rying t o move it up, dow n, in, and out. Push t he lever under t he st eering column all the wa y down.
Protect t he keys f rom d irect sunlight , high t empera tur e, and high humidit y. D on o td r o p t h e k e y s o rs e th e a v y object s on t hem. K eep the keys away f rom liq uid s. If they get wet , dry them immediat ely w ith a sof t clot h. T hese keys co ntain electroni c ci rcui t s t h at are ac tivated by the immobilizer syst em.
If the syst em r ep eat ed ly do es no t rec ognize t he coding of y our key , contact your dealer. Do no t attem pt to al ter thi s sy s te m o r ad d oth er d ev i ces to it. El ec tri cal problems could re sult t hat ma y mak e your vehi cle i no perable.

T he c hildproof door locks ar e designed t o prev ent childre n seat ed in t he rea r f rom a ccident ally ope ning t he rea r doors . Each rea r door has a lock le ver ne ar t he edge . Wit h t he lev er in t he L OCK posit ion, t he door cannot be opened f rom t he inside rega rdless of t he posit ion of t he lock t ab.
