2 Features Single chip LSI camera signal processor Hitachi's leading edge processing technology (0.18 um, internal core 1.8V drive, and 3 m illion gates) is contained on a single newly developed ultra LSI chip. The system is compact and consumes very little power.
3 Notes to users Important safety notes Use this camera with a 12 VDC power supply. Observe that flammable objects, water or metal do not enter the camera interior. These may lead to failure or accident. Do not modify the camera or use the camera with external covers removed.
4 Cleaning A photographer’s blower or lens brush can be used for clearing dust from the lens and optical filters. Wipe dust from the case with a soft dry cloth. If soiling is severe, moisten the cloth with a solution of neutral detergent. Afterwards, wipe the cover with a dry cloth.

7 Lens selection (1) The proper lens is vital for obtaining full perfor mance from the camera. The exit pupil distance is particularly important for a 3 CCD type camera.

9 Menu Screen Operation 1. Menu Structure For settings in the camera, the MAIN and SPECIAL menus are available. 1-1 MAIN Menu S tructure Press the MENU button and MAIN MENU app ears on the screen to indicate the main menu mode. Again press the MENU button t o extinguish the menu and enter the dir ect mode.
10 1-2 SPECIAL Menu S tructure T o select the SPECI AL SET mode, press the MENU butto n for 2 seconds while holding down the U button. Thus, the SPECIAL SET menu can be displayed. T o ret urn to the DIRECT mode, press the MENU button again. The SPECIAL SET menu indicates a list of items, and each special items subsidi ary menus are available.

15 3. SUB MENU 1 1) M. BLACK : Master black level setti ng The master black level can be set in a range of - 128 to 127. Pressing the R button increases a set value to make the black level higher , and pressing the L button d ecreases a set value to make the black level lower .
16 Note : Even if the Exposure tim e is set to long er than 4 seconds with CCD MODE: FRM, when CCD MODE is changed to FLD, the exposur e time is set to 4 seconds. Even if CCD MODE is returned to FRM onc e again, origin al setting time does not return.
17 5) DNR : Digital noise reduction Select Off, Mode 1 or Mode 2. Although Mode 2 prov ides greater noise reduc tion than Mode 1, ima ge resolution in slightly red uced. 6) A WHT SPEED : Sets real- time auto white balance respons e speed. • Standard : Usual setting • Slow : Slows white balance resp onse.
18 ４ .SUB MENU 2 1) DYNA CHR OMA : Dynamic chroma ON/OFF On setting improves colo ration in bright scene components. 2) CHROMA GAIN : Level setting in chro ma signal Setting range is - 1 28 to 127. Press R and L to respectively ra ise or lower the chroma sign al level.
19 7) SHADING MODE : Auto shading setting • COLOR : Minimize vertical shadi ng in image. Use for gene ral scenes. • LUMINANCE : Equalizes vertical RGB signa l levels. Use for special optics such as microscope or inspection devices. • FLA T : Equalizes overall im age RGB signal l e vels.
20 5. ALC 1) PEAK/A VE : Set auto level control for Peak or A verage in 4 steps of 50/50, 25/75, 18/85 or 0/100. At high A verage setting, background may be difficult to see in pictur e bright components. Increasing the Peak setting may rend er spotlighted components easier to see.

LEVEL This menu screen allows you to set up a black level and gain o f R/B video sig nal. 1) ENABLE : Level control ON/OFF setting. 2) R GAIN : R gain level setting The allowabl e setting range is - 128 to 127. Pressing the R butt on increases a nu meric value to make the R vid eo signal gain higher .

27 11 . D T L Menu for setting detail para meters 1) DTL FREQUENCY : DTL amplifying frequency changeover . • LOW : The lower band frequenc y is amplified. • MID : The standard amplification is performed. • HIGH : The high band frequency is ampl ified.
28 7) Wid t h : Sets color phase range for setting Setting range is - 128 (na rrow) to 127 (wide). Since the VBS output is shown as monochrome on the monitor , a monochrome indication ca n also be us ed for an approximate setting. Press both L and R for about 2 seconds to set to 0.
29 12. DTL SUB 1) LEVEL DE P : Dependent level setting Detail amount, and noise, can be reduced in scene dark components. Setting range is -12 8 to +127. Press the R but ton to increase the value, reduce the d etail amount and expand the video si gnal level range.
30 13. Ext trigger The external trigger func tion is used with a fram e grabber to obtain an image of an object at a d esired e x p o s u r e t im e . S e t t i n g s c a n p r o v i d e i m a g e s a t v a r i o u s t i m i n g s . T h e e x p o s u r e t i m e c a n b e c o n t r o l l e d b y the external trigger pulse width.

42 How to Attain Better Images Black Balance Adjustment Adjust black balance to provide proper color tone at a da rk part of video im age. In the following cases, be sure to carry out black balan ce adjustment (AUTO BLACK). • When using the camera first after purchasing it.

45 Realtime Auto White The camera detects a white part in the image by it self, and its internal mi crocomputer automatically adjusts white balance in realtime. Use this function in case that the color temperature varies with time (e.g., from morning to day to night).
46 4. In the DIRECT mode, while holding down U button and D button for more than two seconds and press the D button or in the MENU mode, carry out AUTO SHADING. Thus, color shading in the image is corrected automatically. Notes 1) When using the camera for the first time or after replacing the lens, just be sure above instructions.
47 Long-Time Store Mode In case that illumination on the subject is insufficient, just increasing the gain of the camera may cause an increase in noise, resulting in an uncle ar image. In such a situation, it is advisable to select the long-time store mode using the external memory.

49 RC-Z3 Remote Control Panel All camera menu items can be operated remotely by connecting the RC-Z3 Remote Control Panel. Connect the panel as follows.

Press the RC-Z3 STORE button and the SCENE FILE button of the location for storing the data. Note: Use care since the data are lost if the applicat ion is changed or the power cut off without storing.
