4 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Congratulations for selecting the new Healthrider ® R850X exercise cycle. Cycling is one of the most effective exercises for increasing cardiovascular fit- ness, building endurance, and toning the entire body .
5 ASSEMBL Y Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the exercise cycle in a cleared area and remove the pack- ing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. In addition to the included allen wrenches, assembly requires a phillips screwdriver , a n adjustable wrench , and a rubber mallet .
6 3 2 1 74 39 47 47 52 52 3. Slide the Console Collar (6) up onto the Upright (2). Make sure that the Console Collar is oriented exactly as shown, with the decal on the indicated side . While another person holds the Upright (2) in the posi- tion shown, connect the Upper Wire Harness (39) to the Lower Wire Harness (74).
7 7. Attach the Seat (14) to the Seat Frame (13) with four 1/4” x 19mm Screws (59) and four M6 W ashers (56). 59 56 14 13 7 6. Attach the front of the Seat Frame (13) to the Seat Carriage (12) with two M8 x 40mm Carriage Bolts (57) and two M8 Nylon Jamnuts (82).
8 10. Make sure that all parts of the exercise cycle are properly tightened. Note: Some hardware may be left over after assembly is completed. T o protect the floor or carpet from damage, place a mat under the exercise cycle. 9. Identify the Left Pedal (16), which is marked with an “L.
9 HOW TO OPERA TE THE EXERCISE CYCLE HOW TO MOVE AND LEVEL THE EXERCISE CYCLE Stand in back of the exercise cycle, and lift the exer- cise cycle until it can be moved on the front wheels. Carefully move the exercise cycle to the desired loca- tion and then lower it.
10 FEA TURES OF THE CONSOLE The advanced console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more enjoyable and effective. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the resistance of the exercise cycle can be adjusted with the touch of a button.
11 CONSOLE DESCRIPTION Refer to the drawing on page 10. Note: If there is a thin sheet of clear plastic on the face of the con- sole, remove it. A. Program profiles—These profiles show how the resistance of the exercise cycle and the target pace will change during Smart programs and Heart Rate programs.
12 T urn on the console. Note: The console requires four “D” batteries (not included). If you have not installed batteries, refer to step 5 on page 7 and install batteries. T o turn on the console, press the On/Reset button or begin pedaling. Select the manual mode.
13 T urn on the console. Refer to step 1 on page 12. Select one of the eight Smart programs. Each time the console is turned on, the manual mode will be selected. T o select a Smart program, press the Program but- ton repeatedly until the number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 appears in the upper right corner of the dis- play .
14 Each Heart Rate program helps you to keep your heart rate near a certain percentage of your maximum heart rate during your workout. (Y our maximum heart rate is estimated by subtracting your age from 220. For example, if you are 25 years old, your maximum heart rate is 195.
15 right pace indicator changes, increase or decrease your pace so that the same number of bars appear in both pace indicators. If your pace is slower than the current pace setting, the increase arrow will also appear in the display; if your pace is faster than the pace setting, the decrease arrow will appear .
16 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR PORT ABLE STEREO Note: If your stereo has an RCA-type AUDIO OUT jack, see instruction A below. If your stereo has a 1/8” LINE OUT jack, see instruction B.
17 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR COMPUTER Note: If your computer has a 1/8” LINE OUT jack, see instruction A. If your computer has only a PHONES jack, see instruction B. A. Plug one end of a 1/8” to 1/8” stereo audio cable (available at electronics stores) into the jack beneath the console.
18 T o use iFIT .com CD’s or videocassettes, the exercise cycle must be connected to your portable CD player , portable stereo, home stereo, c omputer with CD play- er , or VCR. See HOW TO CONNECT YOUR CD PLA YER, VCR, OR COMPUTER on page 15. Note: T o purchase iFIT .
19 HOW TO USE PROGRAMS DIRECTL Y FROM OUR WEB SITE Our Web site at www .iFIT .com allows you to play iFIT .com audio and video programs directly from the internet. T o use programs from our Web site, the exer- cise cycle must be connected to your home computer .
20 Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the exercise cycle regularly . T o clean the exercise cycle, use a soft, damp cloth. Keep liquids away from the console and keep the console out of direct sunlight to prevent damage to the console.
21 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. Remember that proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results.
