Thank you for selecting the revolutionary GOLDʼS GYM ® INCLINE TRAINER 1690. The INCLINE TRAINER 1690 offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective. For your benefit, read this manual carefully before using the incline trainer.
ASSEMBL Y T o hire an authorized service technician to assemble the incline trainer, call 1-800-445-2480. Assembly requires two persons. Set the incline trainer in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed.
7 1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. With the help of a second person, tip the incline t rainer onto its left side. Have the second person hold the incline trainer to prevent it from tipping. Attach four Base Feet (80) and four Base Foot Spacers (79) to the Base (78) with four #8 x 1" Tek Screws (2).
8 3. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the incline trainer down so that the Base (78) is flat on the floor. Attach a Wheel (77) to each side of the Base ( 78) with a 3/8" x 2 1/2" Bolt (4) and a 3/8" Nut (8) (only one side is shown).
9 5. Slide the two Handrail Covers (76) onto the lower ends of the Left and Right Handrails (69, 75). See the inset drawing. Make sure that t he curved end of each Handrail Cover is fac- ing the Upright (74). Slid e the lo wer en ds of th e Han drai ls (6 9, 75) onto the bra cket s on th e Upr ight (74).
10 8. Have a second person hold the Console (84) near the Yoke (88). Connect the Upright Wire (72), the Left and Right Pulse Wires (70, 71), and the Console Ground Wire (89) to the wires extending from the Console. See the inset drawing. The con- nectors should slide together easily and snap into place.
1 1 10 12 74 73 10. Attach the Console Cover (73) to the top of the Upright (74) with two #8 x 1/2" Screws (12). Do not overtighten the Screws. 11. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the incline trainer. If there are sheets of clear plastic on the incline trainer decals, remove the plastic.
12 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Y our incline trainer features a walking belt coated with high-performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such sub- stances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
13 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The incline trainer console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more ef- fective and enjoyable. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed and incline of the incline trainer can be changed with the touch of a button.
14 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT: If the incline trainer has been ex- p osed to cold temperatures, allow it to warm to room temperature before turning on the power. If y ou do not do this, you may damage the console displays or other electrical components.

16 HOW TO USE A 1 STEP CALORIE WORKOUT 1. Insert the key into the console. See step 1 on page 14. 2. Select a 1 step calorie workout. To select a 1 step calorie workout, press one of the 1 Step Calorie Workouts buttons until the name of the desired workout appears in the display and the light at the bottom of the desired trail lights up.
17 HOW TO USE A RANDOM WORKOUT 1. Insert the key into the console. See step 1 on page 14. 2. Select a random workout. To select a random workout, press the Random Trail button. Press one of the 1 Step Calorie Workouts buttons to select the approximate num- ber of calories you wish to burn.

19 THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps t rack of the total distance that the walking belt has moved and the total number of hours that the incline t rainer has been used. The information mode also al- lows you to select miles or kilometers to measure dis- tance, and to turn on and turn off the display demo mode.
20 HOW T O MOVE THE INCLINE TRAINER Before moving the incline trainer, insert the key into the console, raise the incline to the maximum incline level, remove the key, and unplug the power cord. 21 TROUBLESHOOTING Most incline trainer problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, a nd follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on S OLUTION: a.
22 Locate t he Reed Sw itch (49 ) and the Ma gnet (37 ) on the left s ide of the P ulley (3 8). Turn th e Pulley u ntil the Magnet i s aligne d with the Re ed Switc h. Make su re t hat the g ap betwe en the Mag net and th e Reed Switch i s about 1/ 8 in.
23 PROBLEM: The walking belt is off-center or slips when walked on SOLUTION: a. If the walking be lt is off- center , remove th e key and U NPLUG T HE POWER C ORD.

25 SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
