The zoom picture m ay be pre-chosen am ong bot tom lock, bottom zoom, m arker zoom and discriminat ion, from the SYSTEM SETTI NG menu.

OPER A TIONA L OVERVIEW 1-20 1.15 A-Scope Displa y The A-scope picture displa ys echoes at each transm ission with amplit udes and colors proportional to t heir intensities on the right one-fourth of the screen. This feat ure is useful for close observation of small fish and f ish near the bottom.

OPERA TIONAL OVER VIEW 1-21 1.16 Suppressing Interferen ce Interference f rom other acoustic equipm ent operating nearby or other elect ronic equipm ent on your boat m ay show itself on the display as shown in the f igure below . Y ou m ay suppress these t ypes of interference with the noise lim iter .

2. MENU OPERA TION 2-4 MARKER SELECT Chooses the m arker f unction, VRM or WHITE MARKER. VRM: Measures depth t o an echo. W HITE M ARKER: Display a specific echo color in white. This f eature is useful for discrim inating bot tom fish f rom the bottom.
2. MENU OPERA TION 2-5 SCROLL TIME T urns the display scroll t im e on or of f. Scroll t ime, shown at the bottom left corner of the displa y , shows the am ount of time a scan line stays on the screen as it passes from one side of the screen to the other .

BO TT OM ALARM W hen your ship com es in the area of t he chosen depth, beeps sound and the indication “BTM” flashes at the top right corner to draw your attention.

2. MENU OPERA TION 2-9 STC (H igh and Low Fr equencies) Adjusts STC level for the high and lo w f requencies, and is usef ul for suppressing surface noise. The setting range is 0 (OFF ) to 10. “10” suppresses nois e which is up to 5 m distance from the f ace of the transducer .

ALPHANUMERIC The alphanum eric display provides position in latitude and longitude, course, speed, depth, t em perature, and range, bearing and cross-track error to the destination waypoint.

4. INTE RPRETI NG T HE DISPLA Y 4-3 The nature of the bottom is known from the intensity and length of the bottom tail. Generally , when obser ving the bottom nature, the lower sounding f requency is used, the pulsel ength is set t o long, and the gain setting is not disturbed.
