1-1 1 BASIC SCANNER OPERATIONS This chapter describes basic scanner operations. This chapter explains operations using the screens of W i ndows XP . Depending on your OS, your PC's scre en shots and the operation may be dif ferent from this manual.

For example, if the document contains black text in green frames, you can set the scanner to get only the text and eliminate the green frames.

3-5 3.2 Cleaning the Pad 3 DAILY CARE 3.2 Cleaning the Pad 1. Remove documents from the stacker. Pu ll up the lever on the right front of the Upper transpor t and then raise it. 2. Pull the ADF release lever toward you and lift up the ADF upper sheet guide.
3-6 3.2 Cleaning the Pad 3. Press down on the upper part of the Gu ide plate with your fingers at the two positions shown and then rotate the plate toward you to remove it.
3-7 3.2 Cleaning the Pad 3 DAILY CARE 4. Wipe the translucent rubber part of the Pad ASSY using a lint free cloth moistened with cleaner F1. 5. Install the guide plate in the reverse order of the removal. You should push it down then rotate back, so the installati on can be done smoothly.
