4 -EN PRECAUTIONS T emperature Be sure the temperature inside the vehicle is between +45°C (+113°F) and 0°C (+32°F) before turning your unit on. Maintenance If you have problems, do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Return it to your Alpine dealer or the nearest Alpine Service Station for servicing.
5 -EN Intr oduction Y ou can operate most of the functions of this unit with the monitor open or c losed (except some operations). For operations with the monitor c losed, refer to page 41.
6 -EN Basic Operation Detaching the Fr ont P anel 1 Press and hold SOURCE/PWR (P ower) f or more than 2 seconds to turn off the power . 2 Press (Release) at low er left side until the front panel pops out. 3 Grasp the left side of the front panel and pull it out.
7 -EN Basic Operation T urning P ower On and Off Some of this unit's functions, cannot be perf or med while the vehicle is in motion. Be sure to stop your vehicle in a saf e location and apply the parking brake , before attempting these operations .
8 -EN Basic Operation Adjusting V olume/Balance (Between Left and Right)/F ader (Between Fr ont and Rear) 1 Press MODE (Rotary encoder) repeatedly to choose the desired mode. Each press changes the modes as f ollows: V olume: 0~35 Balance: L15~R15 F ader : R15~F15 NA V .
9 -EN Radio Operation Manual T uning 1 Press SOURCE/PWR until a radio band and frequency appears in the displa y . 2 Press B AND/TEL. repeatedly until the desired radio band is displa yed. Each press changes the band: → FM1 → FM2 → AM 3 Press TUNE/A.
10 -EN Radio Operation A utomatic Memory of Station Presets 1 Press SOURCE/PWR to select the radio mode . 2 Press B AND/TEL. repeatedly until the desired radio band is displa yed. 3 Press and hold TUNE/A.ME f or at least 2 seconds. The frequency on the displa y continues to change while the automatic memor y is in progress.
11 -EN BAND/TEL. SOURCE/ PWR g g g g g f f f f f NO TES • The contr ols on the CV A-1004 for XM Receiver operation ar e operative only when an XM Receiver is connected. • The XM1, XM2 or XM3 band illuminates when in XM mode. 1 Press SOURCE/PWR to select XM mode.
12 -EN XM Radio Operation (Optional) Changing the Channel Select Method There are 2 wa ys to select a channel: either by channel number (n umeric order) or by channel name (alphabetical order). 1 In XM mode , press and hold : : : : : / J J J J J f or at least 2 seconds.
13 -EN Changing the Displa y T ext inf or mation, such as the channel name, artist name, and song/progr am title, is a vailable with each XM channel. The unit can display this te xt inf ormation as explained below . 1 In XM mode, press TITLE . Each time you press this b utton, the display changes as shown belo w .

15 -EN M.I.X. (Random Pla y) 1 Press 4 ( ) in the pla y or pause mode. The trac ks(files) on the disc will be play ed back in a random sequence . After all the trac ks on the disc hav e been play ed bac k once, the pla yer will begin a new r andom sequence pla y until the M.
16 -EN CD/MP3/Changer Operation (Optional) File/Folder Sear ch (concerning MP3) Y ou can select an MP3 file from the file/folder name list and pla y back. 1 When the monitor is open in MP3 mode, press and hold the Rotary encoder f or at least 2 seconds during pla yback.
17 -EN CD/MP3/Changer Operation (Optional) Pla ying MP3 Files with the CD Changer If you connect a changer compatib le with MP3, you can pla y CD-ROMs , CD-Rs, and CD-R Ws containing MP3 files. 1 Press SOURCE/PWR to s witch to the CD Changer mode. Disc Number , Folder Number , File Number and Elapsed Time are displa yed.
18 -EN DVD/Video CD/CD Player Operation (Optional) Pla ying D VD/Video CD/CD If an optional Alpine D VD/video CD/CD play er is connected to the CV A-1004, you can control it from the CV A-1004. W ARNING It is dangerous (and illegal in many states) f or the driver to w atch the TV/Video while driving the vehicle .
19 -EN DVD/V ideo CD/CD Player Operation (Optional) F ast Forwar d/Backwar d 1 Press and hold g or f during play to f ast backw ard or forw ard respectively . Release the button when y ou reach the desired por tion you wish to pla y . Pla ybac k star ts from that por tion.
20 -EN Navigation System Operation (Optional) T urning on the Navigation Mode If an optional Alpine Na vigation System is connected , The displa y shows the na vigation screen. 1 Press SOURCE/PWR to select the Na vigation mode. NO TE If the Navigation mode does not appear in the display by pr essing SOURCE/PWR , set the external setting of NA V .
21 -EN About MobileHub™ Link Connect a separately sold J unction Bo x and a por table telephone (a vailab le from Nokia) to control the incoming and outgoing calls of the por table telephone .
22 -EN Calling The lists f or Speed Dial, Phone Book, outgoing histor y , incoming histor y and incoming missed call histor y can be displa yed. Y ou can place a call b y these lists. 23 -EN SMS (Shor t Messa ge Ser vice) Operation Y ou can receiv e shor t messages and displa y the contents. 1 All receiv ed messages are indicated by an icon (on the monitor) or “ NEW MSG ” (on the sub- displa y). When the monitor is open, press and hold B AND/TEL.

25 -EN Other Useful Featur es ∗ 2 If an MP3 file contains ID3 tag inf or mation, all the ID3 tag information is displa yed (e .g., trac k name, ar tist name, or alb um name). All other tag data is ignored. “ NO T AG ” will be displa yed if an MP3 file contains no ID3 tag information.

29 -EN Illumination Contr ol T o display the SETUP screen: T o display the Setup screen, y our vehicle must be parked with the ignition ke y in the ACC or ON position. T o do this, follo w the procedure below . 1. Push the foot br ake to bring your v ehicle to a complete stop at a saf e location.
30 -EN Adjusting Color of Picture Color adjustment can be made only to video sources (D VD , Navigation system, etc). Color adjustment cannot be made if a Na vigation system with the RGB f eature is connected. Moreover , you can choose between three settings to suit y our personal preferences . 36 -EN Rear Monitor Setting The optional e xpansion bo x (KCE-104V) must be connected. If AUX/NA V . is tur ned ON (as sho wn in “ Setting the External Input ” on page 37), and a rear-seat monitor and na vigation system are connected to the CV A-1004, the picture/sound f or the rear-seat monitor can be selected from the CV A-1004.
37 -EN Other Useful Featur es ∗ 2 Setting the Visual Eff ect mode: The Viual Effect mode can be set when a video source (e.g. D VD) is selected in A UX1/ A UX2/A UX3. 1 Press and hold TITLE for at least 2 seconds. Each press toggles the setting between ON and OFF .
