11 Hardware Inst allation This section will g uide you through the ins tallation of th e motherboard. The topics covered in thi s section are: Preparing the motherboa rd Installing the CPU .
12 Preparing the Mo therboard Installing the CPU Be very careful whe n handling the CPU. Hold the processor only by the edges and do not touch the contac ts on the motherboa rd or CPU. Any physical da mage to the motherbard pins w ill void the war ranty.
13 Align the notche s in the processor wi th the notches on the socket. Lower the proces sor straight down into the socket without tilti ng or sliding it into the socket Note: Make sure the CPU is fully seated and level. Lower the load plate s o it is resting on the CPU.
14 Installing Sy stem Memory (DIMMs) Your new motherboa rd has four 240 -pin slots for D DR3 memory. These slots support 256 MB, 512 M B , 1G B , 2G B, 4GB DDR3 tech nologies . There must be at least one memory bank popula ted to ensure normal o peration.

16 Securing the Mot herboard into a S y stem Cas e Most system case s have a base with mounting studs or spac ers to allow the motherboard to be secu red to the chassis and help to prevent short circui ts.
17 24 -pin ATX Pow er (PW 1) PW1 is the main power supply connector located alo ng the edge of the board next to the DIMM slots. Make sure that the power sup ply cable and pins are properly aligned wit h the connector o n the motherboard. Firmly plug the power supply cable into the c onnector and make sure it is secure.
18 Connecting Seria l ATA Cables The Serial ATA I I connector is used to c onnect the Serial A TA II device to the motherboard. These co nnectors support the thin Serial ATA II cables fo r primary storage devices. The c urrent Serial ATA II interface a llows up to 300MB/s data trans fer rate.
19 Connecting Internal Headers Front Panel Hea der The front panel he ader on this motherb oard is one conne ctor used to connec t the following fou r cables. (see Table 2 for pin definitions) : PWRLED Attach the front pane l power LED cable to these two pins of the connector.
20 IEEE1394a (Firewire) Th is motherboar d has one IEE E 1394a onboard header. Alternatively, you ca n also connect this to your system case (if ap plicable). 1. Secure the bracket to either t he front or rear pane l of the system case (not all system cases are equippe d with the front panel option).
21 USB Headers This motherboard c ontains seven (7) US B 2.0 ports that are exposed on the rear pane l of the chassis (Figure 2). The mothe rboard also contain s three (3) 10 - pin internal heade r connectors onboard that c an be used to connect an optional e xternal bracke t containing up to six (6) USB 2.
22 Audio The audio connec tor supports HD audio standard and provide s two kinds of audio output choice s: the Front Audio, the Rea r Audio. The f ront Audio supports re-tasking function.
23 Expansion Slots PCI Slots The PCI slot suppo rts many expa nsion cards such as a L AN card, USB card, SCSI card and other ca rds that comply w ith PCI specifications.
24 Onboard Button s These onboard butt ons include RESET, POWER and Cle ar CMOS. These functions allow you t o easily reset t he system, turn on/of f the system, or clea r the CMOS. Clear CMOS Butto n The motherboard u ses the CMOS RAM to store all the s et parameters.
25 Post Port Debug LED and LED Status Indicators Post Port Debug LED Provides two-digit P OST codes to show why the sy stem may be failing to b oot . It is useful during tr oubleshooting situation s. This Debug LED w ill also display current CPU temperat ures after the system has fully bo oted into t he Operating System.
26 Jumper Setting s PCIE Disable J umper For the ease of troubleshooting Multiple V ideo Ca rds, or testing individu al Video Card’s Ove r clocking, EVGA ha s implemented 3 Jumpers you can use to disable individual PCIE slots.
27 Voltage Measure Point The motherboard is e quipped with eight vol tage measure point pad. You can use a voltmeter to mea sure the voltage you want to know.
28 EVGA Control Pan el V2 (ECP) For the convenience of users, EVGA ha s bundled an eas y to Access Control Panel: To use the ECP, simply hook up the bla ck ECP Cable to the motherboard at the ECP header loca tion.
29 If you wish to ac cess the PCIE Disable Function via the ECP, please follow these instructions: Locate the PCIE Disable Jumpers (see vi s ual guide) Remove the 3 jumper s. Connect the PC IE Cable with the Red wi r es occupying the left most pins: I t doesn’t matter wh ic h end of the PCIE Cable goes o nto the Motherb oard.
30 The Red wires should be occ upying the pins on the top row. Now, access the Disable/Enable Function a t the front of the Control Panel: From Right to Left, PCIE Slots 1,2,3. When Jumper is in top position, PCIE slot is enabled. When in bot tom po sition PCIE slot i s disabled.
31 CPU VCore Booste r For convenience of users when overcloc king, the ECP houses 3 CPU Vcore Boosters for real-time boo st of CPU VCore u pwards of + 0.1v per button. The Red LED will ligh t up when VCore booster is pres sed. When one Red LE D is lit, VC ore is boosted by +0.
32 Configuring the B IOS This section discu sses how to change the system setting s through the BIOS Setup menus. Desc riptions of the BI OS parameters are also provided.
Configuring the BIOS 33 Enter BIOS Setu p The BIOS is the c ommunication bridge between hardwar e and software. Correctly setting the B IOS p arameters is critical t o maintain optimal system performance and stability . Use the following p rocedure to verify/change BIOS setti ngs.

Configuring the BIOS 35 Frequency/Volta ge Control Use this menu to optimize system performance and configure clocks, voltages, memory timings, and mo re. Load Optimal Defaul ts Load default sys tem settings. Discard Changes Use this command to aba ndon all setting c hanges and ex it setup.
36 Standard BIOS Features Menu The Standard CMO S Features menu is used to configure the standard CMOS information, such as the date, time, a nd so on. Use the + an d - keys to scroll through the options. Use t he arrow ke ys to posi tion the selector in the option you choo se.
Configuring the BIOS 37 System Time / Sy s tem D ate Using the arrow key s, position the c ursor over the month, day , and year. Use the + and - keys to sc roll through dates and times. Note that the weekday (Sun through Sat) canno t be change d. This field changes to co rrespond to the date you enter.
