15 Shuttle and J og Dial Shuttle: In the Playback mode, turn t he Shuttl e dial to fast forward/rewind the video. In the Pause mode, tur n the Shuttle dial to sl ow forward/rewind the video. Event sign: Event signals which are small icons wit h a capital letter and red background sh ow the events on each screen.
3 4 Select sign: You can assign a camera to a display by pressing SELECT key in live mode. Dial Jog to move the select sign to the displ ay you would l ike to change camera, and then press channel key from the Chann el Panel to relocate the c amera.
1. Current date: The current date which is set in the TIME /DATE SETU P ME NU . 2. Record status: It shows R EC and recording hard dis k number. “ REC ” , it shows when machine is re co rding. “ R01 ”, the recording hard disk num ber. Ther e is only one hard disk available in this m odel, so it alway s shows R01 when recording.
The installations described below shoul d b e done by qualified service person nel or system installers. 2.1 PACKING LIST 2. INSTALLATION Please check acce ssories in t he packing be fore the inst allation .
(1) Insert a HDD (ID E) for Video Storage Insert a HDD(IDE) for Video Storage. The HDD shou ld be set as MASTER. After hard di sk case is inserted into t he hard disk tray, be sure to turn the tray key in lock p osition. Otherwise, HDD wil l not be detected.
3. MENU SETUP 3.1 TIME / DATE SETUP MENU MENU Press MENU key to enter the MAIN MENU . Press MENU key or click on the arrow at the top right corner of the screen with a mouse to quit cu rren t setting, and go back to last setting. Dial the Jog clockwise or countercl ockwise to change subentry values.
In the TIME/ DATE SETUP MENU, we define : (1) TIME FORMAT: There are two time formats that are 12 HOUR and 24 HOUR to be selected. (2) TIME: Current tim e Hour: 00 ~ 23 (1 ~ 12 if TIME FORMAT is 12 HO.
LAST To set the start week of d aylight sa ving time: Dial the jog to set the start week. 1 ST 2 ND 3 RD 4 TH To set the start date of dayli ght savi ng time: Dial the jog to set the start date. THU SUN FRI TUE MON WED SAT To set the start month of dayli ght savin g time: Dial the jog to set the start month.
(8) TIME SY NCHRONIZE: Select “ ON ”o r “ OFF ” to enable or dis able time synchro nize which can let you have correct time automatically when n etwork is conn ected. (9) TIME SE RVER: You can set the time server address where you lo cate if you conn ect to network and enable time synchronize.
3.2 CAMERA SETUP MENU In the CAMERA SETUP MENU, we define : (1) TITL E: The title setting allows you to assign a title to each c amera input. Titling with 12 characters is supported in ea ch channel. The available alphanumeric characters are: 0,1,2,3, 4,5,6,7, 8,9, A,B,C,D,E ,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N, O,P,Q,R, S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z, ( ) .
(6) REC SPEED ON TIME ZONE: TP : The TP 1~8 are sch eduled record ing time which can be set in the SCHE DULE SETUP MENU . “N” in the colum n of “TP” is the normal record in g time. NORMAL : N ormal record speed (Images per second) up to 30 IPS.
(7) SUMMARY : Dial Jog to change items in the SUMMERY table. All camera’s statuses are shown in the SUMMARY t able. The table is for checki ng camera overall statuses only, not for setting.
3.3 RECORD SETUP MENU In the RECORD SETUP MENU, we define : (1) RECORD AUDIO: YES: Audio will be recorded when machine is recording. NO: Audio will not be recor ded when machine is recording. (2) TIME S TAMP: ON: The time stamp will show on the vi deo and picture when recording.
(6) RECORD MODE: REWRITE: Continue recording. Disk will be overwritten when it is full. STOP: Stop recording when disk i s full. 30.
3.4 ALARM SETUP MENU In the ALARM SETUP MENU, we define : (1) ALARM: ENABLE: Enable alarm detection. DISABLE: Disable alarm detection. (2) ALARM TY PE: N. O. : Norm al Open alarm. N.C. TRANS. : When th e alarm is triggered, buzz er starts to function no matter how long is the alarm duration set until you set it back to N.
(4) RE TRIGGER: Re-trigger the alarm. YES : The duration time starts when an alar m is triggered. The duration time restarts fro m 0 when a new alarm is triggered during an alarm action. NO : The alarm signal wi ll not b e triggered again durin g duration tim e.
(12) MATRIX MON 1: Di splay on matrix monitor 1 when an alarm occ urs. NO CHANG E : Nothing ch anges on the di sp lay in the ma trix monitor 1 when an alarm occurs. CAMERA 1~16: Display an assigned camera in full screen mode to the mat rix monitor 1. (13) MATRIX MON 2: Di splay on matrix monitor 2 when an alarm occ urs.
3.5 MOTION SETUP MENU In the MOTION SETUP MENU, we define : (1) MOTION: ENABLE: Enable motion detectio n. DISABLE: Disable m otion detection. Note: Motion only works in live and playback modes. It is invalid when yo u are setting menus. (2) SENSITIVI T Y: The sensitivity allows users to adjust to a suitable motion detection sensitivity.
(6) EMAIL/NETW OR K: YES: Send an email / Enable alarm network when an alarm occurs. NO: Do not send an email / Disable al arm network when an alarm occurs. The email address and e-mail server can be set in the NETWORK SETUP MENU. (7) BU ZZER: Motion buzzer.
(13) MATR IX MON 4: Display on m atrix monitor 4 when an alarm occurs. NO CHANG E : Nothing ch anges on the di sp lay in the ma trix monitor 4 when an alarm occurs. CAMERA 1~16: Display an assigned camera in full screen mode to the mat rix monitor 4. (14) SUMMARY: Dial Jog to change ite ms in the SUMMERY table.
To test a motion area: Grids will turn into light red from light green when a motion is dete cted. To clean up the entire area: Press PLAY to clean up the entire motion area. To get a motio n area setting hin t: Press CALL to get a hi nt window (sh ows below) in m otion edit mode.
3.6 VLOSS SETUP MENU In the VLO SS (Video Lo ss) SETUP ME NU, we define : (1) VLOSS: ENABLE: Enable video l oss detectio n. DISABLE: Disabl e video loss detection. (2) DURATION: Buzzer noise and event record d uration of an alar m, from 1 sec t o 99 seconds.
(6) ALARM N ETWORK: YES: Enable alarm network. NO: Disable alarm network. (7) SUMMARY: All video l oss’s statuses are shown in SUMMARY table. This table is on ly for checking vi deo loss overall statuses, not for setting.
3.7 NETW O RK SET UP MENU Please Note: Since every Network Co nfiguration is different, please contact your Network Adm inistrat or or ISP for how to assign those IP addresses and port num bers. In CONFIG of the NETWORK SETUP MENU, we define : (1) DHCP: Enable or disable the Dynam ic Host Com munication Protocol.
(6) HTTP PORT: The defaul t port num ber is 80. User can change it to different port num ber for HTTP/WEB com municat ion between DVR and cli ent PC. (7) CONTROL PORT: The default port num ber is 1600. User can change it t o different port number for Co ntrollin g comment between DVR and client PC .
(4) SERVER 1 : assign t he IP address of Alarm server 1. (5) SERVER 2 : assign t he IP address of Alarm server 2. (6) SERVER 3 : assign t he IP address of Alarm server 3. 3.7.3 EMAIL In the ALARM of the NETWORK S E TUP MENU, we define : (1) SMTP SERVE R: assign the SMTP (e-mail) server’s IP address.
3.7.4 PASSWORD In the PASSWORD of the NE TWORK SETUP M ENU, we define : (1) NAME: assi gn the l ogin name for remote accessi ng. (2) PASS WORD: assign the passwor d for remote acces sing. (3) LEVEL: assi gn the accessi ng Right /Priori ty of that l ogin use r PLAY: User is allowed to pl ayback the video.
3.8 SCHEDULE SE TUP MENU In the SCHE DULE SETUP MENU, we define : (1) DAY: MON (Monday), TUE (Tuesday), WED (Wednesday), THU (Thursday), FRI (Friday), SAT (Saturday), SUN (Sunday). WDAY: Weekday, from Monday to Friday. WEND: Weekend, Saturday and Sunday.
3.9 DISK SETUP ME NU In the DISK SETUP MENU , we define : (1) DISK INFORMATIONS: Select disks, there are 4 disks in e ach ta ble. A maxim um of 40 di sks is available for this model. (2) DISK V IDEO DELE TE: The disk y ou want to delete. Press SELECT to start delete.
3.10 CONTROL SETUP MENU In the CONT RO L S E T UP MENU, we define : (1) RS 232: BAUD RATE: There are 5 different speeds that can be used to transmit instruction or informati on through the RS232 port on the device, which are 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400 and 57600 BPS.
(2) RS 4 85: BAUD RATE: There are 5 different speeds that can be used to transmit instruction or informati on through the RS232 port on the device, which are 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400 and 57600 BPS. The defau lt setting from the factory is 9600 BPS.
3.11 WARNING SETUP MENU 3.11.1 FAN FAULT In Warning Setup Menu, you will be able to do warn ing setting when the following situations occur: In FAN FAULT , we define: (1) BUZZER : Fan buzzer. ENABLE: To enable a buzzer when the fan does not work. DISABLE: To disable fan buzze r.
In HDD TEMP. , we define: (1) BUZZER : HDD TEMPERATURE buzzer. ENABLE: To enable a buzzer when HDD’s temperature is over 70 ° C . DISABLE: To disable HDD TEM P. buzzer. (2) ALARM OUTPUT: The setting of alarms which are NONE, 1, 2, 3 and 4. (3) ALARM DURATION: PE RMANENT (4) NETWORK ALARM: YES: To enable network alarm.
In NO HDD , we define: (1) BUZZER : NO HDD buzzer. ENABLE: To enable a buzzer when no HDD has been foun d. DISABLE: To disabl e NO HDD buzzer. (2) ALARM OUTPUT: The setting of alarms which are NONE, 1, 2, 3 and 4. (3) ALARM DURATION: B uzzer noise and event record duration of an alarm, from 1 sec to 99 seconds.
In HDD FULL , we define: (1) BUZZER : HDD FULL buzzer. ENABLE: To enable a buzzer when HDD is full. DISABLE: To disabl e HDD FULL buzzer. (2) ALARM OUTPUT: The setting of alarms which are NONE, 1, 2, 3 and 4. (3) ALARM DURATION: B uzzer noise and event record duration of an alarm, from 1 sec to 99 seconds.
3.12 SYSTEM SETUP MENU In the S YSTEM SETUP MENU, we define : (1) SYSTEM VERSION: Current system firmware version. (2) SYSTEM VIDE O FORMAT: NTSC or PAL System can d etect the input signal type automatically fro m camera 1 wh ile system is booting up.
(5) LANGUA GE: Syst em language can be se t in different languages. Note: The available language depends on the different areas and countries. (6) QUICK PLAY: Set u p the start play t ime of the normal pl ay mode. TIME: Quick play time, 5 to 59 minutes ago.

4.1 INSTANT RECORDING When REC is pressed, the pictures being m onitored will be recorded in the HDD. •The recording rate, r ecording quality and rec ording speed can be set in the CAMERA SETUP MENU . •A “ RECORD ” sign appears in the record status bar.
Set up the DAY , START time, END time and then enable the SET in th e SCHEDULE SETUP MENU. Please refer to SCHEDULE SETUP MENU, to see sett ing procedure and more details. 4.2 SCHEDULE RECORDING 4.3 EVENT RECORDING We define two even t typ es which are ALARM and MOTION events can be recorded.
2. After enabling an event, you n eed to set a time zone in the SCHEDULE SETUP MENU. An event recording has to be i ncluded in a scheduled tim e zone. You can refer to SCHEDUL E S E T UP MENU to set up a time zone which you woul d like to record when an event occurs.
Press the PLAY key to start pl aying back the stor ed im age/audio. The video start time depends on th e immediat e play setting in the SYSTEM SETU P MENU . (1) Playback Press the STO P key to stop playing back. (3) Fast Forward/Reverse Playback Press the PLAY key to start playing back.
(4) Slow Forward/Reverse Playback During playback m ode, press PAUSE key to freeze the play ing back picture. Turn the Shuttle dial clockwise, to star t slow forward playback. The speed will show on the status bar of t he bottom screen. >> 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/ 16, 1/32, and press ENTER at the same time to fasten the play speed.
5.2 SEARCH PLAYBACK (1) TIME / DATE Search Playback Press the SEARCH key to en ter the SEARCH ME NU . SEARCH In the SEARCH ME NU , Dial the Jog clockwise or countercl ockwise to change subentry values. Press the ENTER key to go next subentry i n search menu setti ng, and press the DISPLAY key to go last subentry in search menu setting.
(2) EVENT Search Playback You can change different event search methods if you select “BY EVENT” instead of “BY TIME / DATE” . 7 events which are ALARM, MOTION, VLOS S, A/M, A/V, M/V an d A/M/V can be selected. The indications of events show below.
Insert a USB pocket driver i nto USB sl ot on the front panel to copy. USB SLOT: COPY Press COPY key and then the copy m enu appears. Digital Video Recorder allows users to select th e c amera for co p ying image to movie file or copying EDR Viewer player.
In the COPY MENU , we define: COPY: Select Image for copying images to movie file. Select Viewer for copying EDR viewer player. DISK N O: Disk num ber. It is fixed as “01” in this series. CAMERA NO: Cam era number. You can select the video of camera you wou ld like to copy.
7. CALL Press the CALL key and the CALL MENU will pop up as below. In the CALL MENU, we define : (1) SEQ: Sequence display o n the Call/Matrix monitor. Press SEQ to switch “ON” or “OFF” of the sequence status. (2) OSD: Ch annel name display on the Call/Matrix monitor.
8. SCREEN DISPLAY SETTING In a full screen display, press SELECT key to pop up the display adjustment window as belo w: In the screen display setting menu , we d efine: (1) CAMERA: Th e display setting of the current ca mera. (2) BRIGHTNESS: The bright percentage of the current camera; from 0% to 100%.
9. SCREEN DISPLAY MODE Press MODE to switch 4, 7, 9, 10, 13, 16 and PIP (pic ture in picture) displ ays for Live and Play back mode. 66.

The icons on the lo wer corne r of the scr een are main ly for control and configuration, those on the right corne r are fo r status ind ication. If any icon is grayed, it means that the specific function is not accessible in the current mode.

APPENDIX RS232 The pin assignment of th e 9-pin D-SUB co nnector D-SUB 9-pin connector This Digital Video Recorder can be c ontroll ed by a computer or a terminal via a standard D-SUB 9-pin RS-23 2 connector.

Alarm I/O pin assignment The alarm connector, Figure 1 , is used to provide one sensor ala rm input for each came ra input. For eas y operation, an alarm e xtension board, Figure 2 , is provided to connect to the ala rm connector.
